I flew into Telluride once. Coolest approach ever. This video shows it perfectly. You feel like you're flying right at the mountain, then at the last second you make a tight little turn and the runway pops out from nowhere. I loved it!

The Cheyenne 400 is a Beast! And I mean that in a good way.

It literally holds all turboprop climb records. It is certified to 41,000 feet (crazy for a TP) and until the Piaggio came along was the fastest Civilian prop plane of all time. On top of that its short field performance is stunning.

My Uncle was head of Worldwide Sales for Piper. He flew with Yeager on most of the records the 400LS set or broke. The rate of climb video is online.

Love that Westbound approach. (Runway 27) I thought the "turn inside the road" approach was just for the 121 operators such as Great Lakes...

I've been into Telluride 3 times in my 32 year (so far) career - first time in a Citation III, twice in a King Air 300 (always left seat). ALWAYS landed to the east and took off to the west. Would you have had greater than 10 knots tailwind component if you'd landed to the east?

32 year career here as well. Landed in Telluride so many times in different jets and the Cheyenne I don’t know the number. And, I don’t land at Telluride with any tailwind. If the wind is 5 knots from the west, I land 27. It’s not that difficult.

Take a Piper Archer at night into Gunnison Co. with 4 gallons of fuel remaining.

Was someone in position while you were still back taxiing on the runway? WTF? Technically, that's an incursion right? That's your runway until you are clear.
