For everyone wondering how could this happen/what happened with Hayato, here's a short rundown of her route: Hachiman stumbles upon a frustrated Miura on the rooftop, and she goes on and on and on about Hayato, how she wants to know more and whatnot. Realizing she opened herself up to Hikio of all people, she was like "forget it" and Hachiman was like "there's no way I can forget", which actually makes her smile. During Valentine's, a downcast Miura stumbles upon Isshiki and they have a conversation where "something genuine" comes up, and now Miura wants to grasp that, too. So she decides she's gonna try and get her feelings through to him with chocolates. She starts waiting for an answer, but one never comes. Then, pretty much the whole cast goes to a ski lodge (the same seen in the Haruno flashback in this vid). At night, Hachiman hears some crying, and yup, it's Yumiko. She explains that she's been waiting for a proper answer from Hayato, but nothing has happened so far. That she knew this would happen, but she really wanted "the real thing" she heard about from Isshiki and went ahead anyway. So Yumiko asks 8man what he would do, and while 8man initially suggests letting things settle down, she's like "there's no way I can do that", so instead he suggests confessing directly, and she says she'll think about it. So next up, she drops by 8man's room before going and confessing to Hayato. 8man gives her a little pep talk, and she requests 8man wait for her to return. She goes and confesses, and of course, she's rejected. Cue a crying Ashi-san being comforted by Hachiman, who cheers her for trying her best despite knowing how it was going to play out. Yumiko says that Hayato's answer was very "bitter", which 8man compares to good medicine. She then says she confessed for her own satisfaction and that she'll get over Hayato for Hayato's sake and freedom (since he's always pressured). To which Hachiman says that Yumiko is a very cool person, which flusters her. He also points out that Hayato gave her a straight answer without something like "I can't decide yet" because she's important to him in his own way. Yumiko accepts that, and also thinks that 8man really has a great insight into people. Then it's back to school, and the popular clique is chatting normally. Yumiko's confession didn't seem to have an effect on their dynamics (then again, they probably don't know). BUT THEN... when Hachiman gets up from his chair, Yumiko's like "Hikio, where are you going?", and he's like "to buy some juice". And then she's like "Get me some, too!" , and Yui's like "oh god oh fuck". So when 8man's back to the classroom, he only has one can of juice and Yumiko's like, why don't you have a can for yourself, you'll probably need a drink after chatting with us! This surprises the 8man, as he thought he was only being the errand boy. Cue Hayato signaling to get 8man a seat, and the group asking him to sit down with them. Cue Yumiko asking Hachiman what his plans to review for an exam are. And so, we get to this video. It's pretty clear that the whole "fetch me x or help me with y" thing is just an excuse for her to have him around. tl;dr - Ashi-san is delightfully clingy to anybody that shows her kindness and care.
i honestly liked this one since they never really talked or had any sort of relationship throughout the show so it's interesting to see how they would fill that gap with this ending

COULD THIS BE EVIDENCE THAT MIURA IS BEST GIRL? probably not but that doesn't stop me from being impressed with how similar the relationship of Miura and Hachiman in the VN are to those fanfics...
I still didn't understand how the chemistry works behind this route. But I agree with what Yukinoshita said in 1:07 that she's the type which will ge atached once you open her heart. After all, Yumiiko is a maiden herself.
This route is just straight up impossible in the anime lmao, like...they're two person from different worlds. There must be some kind of error in reality itself for these two to be together
I mean it really just depends on the circumstances the writer gives a pair. For example 8man and Yukino are pretty much forced to spend time together thus making them connect to each other getting to know one another. 8man and Yumiko never interacted that much so it makes this seem impossible but each route in this VN is pretty much a different story of their own so it gave the pairing a situation where they connect and develop.
I read this route imagining 8man having a nightmare, something like "8man falls asleep, then... *video plays*. *video ends*, he suddendly stood up, shocked, cold sweat run thought all of his body"
In this one hayama rejected her, if you do the rarer but correct steps you end up helping her a lot and she ends up making you her servant in a way just to get to talk to you, that's why she tells him her favorite drinks
They do get along. If you go by the Anime Yumiko she was depicted to be “evil” thors Hachiman because they removed all their interactions but in the LN she does recognize his worth. They being friendly thors each other is not wrong. Also iirc this VN settings were “supervised” by Watari Sensei himself.
