Well, this isn’t Fate, so just because the author wrote or took part in writing the VN, it’s not going to be canon unless said otherwise, the LN is the real canon and the VN just shows us all the possibilities, so people should just enjoy the VN (and pray it gets localized so I don’t have to learn Japanese just to read it), but otherwise, it’s not gonna be canon. Besides, the VN has a Komachi route.. like.. come on..
Sensei was 100% best route. Throughout the whole anime hachiman constantly talks about how she is best girl more than he does for anyone else. Im pretty sure he would've been happier with her.
FRASH 18 Well she is best girl. As in literally best girl. Shizuka & Haruno were always a trump cards in the series. Shizuka is S-Tier Specs woman if it was IRL after all. That was always the point. Throughout the story 8man has stated how Sensei is among very few people he truly admires, yes he could have been happier with her if it was not for the “flaw” of being older. At the end of the series you come to realize that they love each other in a platonic way and respect each other. Which means that this VN ending more than fan service is more like a wink or thumbs up for the readers that loved both characters. Also is the best ending in the game.

In the bounds of the series and totally objectively, yeah, sensei is best by a lightyear but strong love is nothing if not subjective and so this is unrealistic for the actual series, hachiman lucking out in the vn, speaking objectively and from a purely degenerate perspective, is pretty ridiculously heartwarming though. though i can't help but grin when imagining hachiman as a vn protagonist

But throughout the series he went on a date with Yukino, Yui, Hiratsuka Sensei, Iroha, getting a relationship with Kawasaki, Ebina interested in him at some point, Shiromeguri senpai admire him, getting a close relationship with attractive Haruno. And that's all happen within a year. Damn I'll pay for anyone who can animate every possible route he can take
