Episode 2 documenting the adventure of living in the woods and building a cabin by myself. More videos to come soon! Still sifting through lots of stuff! #cabinbuild #cabin #diybuilds
Another remarkable video. Honest, genuine and entertaining. I really appreciated your honestly and vantage point on imperfections in the build. The "Kintsugi" of our lives and projects are what make the journey special and I am so happy to enjoy the ride with you. Thank you for sharing with us
This video just popped up as i am hooked to off grid diy projects. And i justfell in love with this guy and his video...what a contrast to some young youtubers who thrive simply on backing ...subscribed...way to go.
You're pretty amazing in how much you accomplish in a days time. I think the structure is just fine, like you said, it's just to get you out of a tent. At least it will be solid and protection from storms. Love your sense of humor!
Cannot wait for Mystery Stuff! This video was such a delightful ride; great edits, great story telling, and a sweet philosophical discussion at the end. Made my day!
lmao dude I love your style of video editing.. this had me dead.. Also a nod to "Kyles cabin" with your reflective insulation on the floor.. I SEE YOU I be out here 😂Your flooring looks incredible to me and I think you're doing great.. it's imperfectly perfect just the way it is! Looking forward to the next video!!
Nice . Was waiting for episode 2 ... Love the plan you did Good luck 👍 Hope you get all the subs and likes 👍 👌 We have a trailer and can't wait for this summer we are going camping down to the Colorado River. .
@@TigiTweet Someone at the end of the day with a very sore back, or one that is no good for the next day. Can be a lot more than a couple of minutes lost
haha this is not an awful point to make. I actually had to do this in two different days though. I had to drop the rock and then go pick up the excavator after that. so it was a little complicated
Just found first video, thought 'this dude bit off more than he could chew', but looks like you have the right attitude and a plan, so I'm along for the ride. All the best!
You're inspiring me to finally commit to developing a 7.5 acre lot at the end of a winding road in the middle of the mountains. It's as beautiful as it is brutal to work on but documenting my struggles along the way, as you have done yourself, gives me great motivation to begin. I hope to inspire others as you have inspired me, my friend.
I used to work on 3.5 million dollar homes in LA and those were not even close to perfect (the horror stories I have) I was the stair guy and those werent even perfect. The boards will settle and if it comes to it just grab a planner and make it flat, their loud and messy but they work.
Do you think it would have just been easier to use rockwool instead of the reflective stuff? I feel like that insulation choice is gonna haunt you down the road. Great episode, excited to see where this goes!
Hey thanks for joining in the journey! Oh man, I've thought a lot about this insulation stuff... There's definitely pros and cons to everything... the reflectix is nice because it's easy to install and mice and pests won't get in it and rip it out. Fiberglass and rockwool all get messed with by pests unless you cover up the bottom with wood but then that's a lot more work. I am using rockwool in the walls though
@@zachariah_holub the pest thing is a good point. I'll be starting a cabin build here in a month or so, so it's been something I've gone back and forth quite a bit on. I'm in the PNW, so pretty mild temps more often than not and probably worth my time to deal with the rockwool in the floors. Anyways, looking forward to your videos as I gear up to go down a similar path. We'll see if I end up documenting or not, if so, I'll reach out once that channel gets started up! Good luck and keep up the hard work!
Well, you certainly don’t have to be all plumb and square, but it makes building a lot easier. It becomes a compounding error. I think you’ll regret not fixing it over time.
100% agree. the errors accumulate. Luckily the floor is perfectly level and square. It just has a few gaps I'm not stoked on... but hopefully these won't cause a huge headache down the road.
Oh man... I would love to get one of those. I looked into them for a bit actually... Maybe down the road a little more I can get one... Right now it's all gonna have to be by hand unfortunately
you're gonna make many more mistakes and will have to make more decisions like these - tear it down and try again or just live with it. that's just the way of building anything. you gain knowledge and do better next time
You should come to my property way up north. I got an old church built in 1949 that I need to tear down. Original and real two by four construction. Ima tear it down and build with the wood. No youtube channel. Just me and my generator and my hands. If I was saavy and had the knowledge to use youtube, it'd be epic. But it'll only be epic for me cause I don't do youtube, other then watch good people like you. I won't pay for one piece of wood and the amount of nails and shit I took out of my old church will make everything free cause it was loaded with boxes of nails and metal and shit.
My walls are six by three quarter tounge and groove. Roof is shakes. I got everything for free. I love this guy but he obviously bought shit. I got everything for five hundred bucks.
great video. Put your episode number in the title. ;-)
This.... ^
Thanks so much! Oh man... I guess maybe I'll have to think about doing this. Lots of upvotes here haha
Nobody’s house is perfect, but yours is yours! Well done! Keep it up
So true. Thanks a lot!
Put holes on the bed's plywood so it wont get moldy. (Don't let the moisture get trapped) Trust me bro! Ty for video, love it!

Love the reflective commentary about imperfections of life and our houses. Truth and calm wisdom! looking great and what an adventure!
Thanks a lot. Really glad you liked it. Thanks for joining in on the journey!
Keep it going. In for it, although if you come across errors, man fix em while you can. If you make too many errors, they will make each other worse.
Thanks for tuning in! And yes... I definitely will try to fix more of this stuff as I go in the future

figure out what fruit trees you want to plant and try and get some in the ground early on they can take years to bear fruit!

Hey thanks a lot! I'm in Southern Utah as well. It's a great place!
Loving your videos, how often are you trying to post?
Well I'm trying to get one out about every two weeks or so... but it will be a little loose. Just whenever there's a natural break in the progress

Oh man, its not but I do love it. Thats where the neighbors park their jeep.

Onya Zach. You should get a better hat to protect your face and ears from the sun. Melanoma is no joke.
Thanks a lot amigo! You're right! I need a nice wide brimmed one like what you've got on!
private property, you'd think this guy was trying to build something in the bush
haha yep it is my land. Wouldn't want to build on somewhere it will get torn down eventually
From another channel. You've sacrificed precision for the sake of progress. Nothin wrong with that here and there.
Love that perspective. Thanks for joining in on the journey!

Your videos are very good but the background music is very annoying while you are talking
