- The 2006 Portuguese Motorcycle Grand Prix, is a race that is still talked about to this day, for 2 key moments that happened. One being the accident involving the 2 Repsol Hondas, which saw Hayden lose the lead in the standings, and the other being the infamous photo-finish, which ended up being a catalyst in Rossi losing the 2006 title. In this video, I talk about that race.

A lot of Yamaha's reliability issues costed Valentino the title for sure, but seeing that joy inside Nicky's eyes during the parade lap in Valencia is one of the most emotional moments that I can remember about MotoGP. Missing so much the Kentucky Kid, happy he has achieved his dream
I remember watching the Portugal race in Eurosport. Their commentary team of Toby Moody, Julian Ryder and Randy Mamola was a great combination and added something extra to an already exciting race. Two thousandths was all it took to swing the championship. Pure class from Rossi when he pulled alongside the newly crowned world champion Hayden to congratulate him.
They made jokes about how Honda will pay Elias millions of dollars in gold if he wins the race as well 😂
It was also, if I remember correctly, the last satellite team win for a very long time.
Yup for nearly a decade I believe the next satellite win was Jack Miller at Assen in 2016
imo even if rossi would end up winning in estoril, hayden had the pace to win in valencia, he ended up playing it safe after the pit board told him that rossi's out, giving his p2 to capirossi and stopped chasing bayliss
Very interesting., I enjoyed that. Cheers from Australia.
_I do wonder about the long complicated title ^ if it will drive away viewers._
_Rather than "implicated" perhaps 'decided' would be more click friendly?_
Yep, basically (not that we didn't know it at the time) Rossi lost his 10th title by 0.002 seconds 💀
PS: 4:50 the screen went black.
That wasn't an error, that was intentional.
@@JWTalksMotorsport May I ask why?
@@UncleJoeLITE Probably copyright.
@@UncleJoeLITE Probably was for dramatic effect. The commentary is all that needs to be heard to know what went on.
Ahh good ol days of entertaining Moto GP season 😂
