In my city, they usually just open up the road. There's rock outcropping all over the place, it's typical to have a rock hammer laying around on construction sites. Recently, they needed to have a pair of pipes go under an active railway. Bedrock at that location is quite literally right under the asphalt. They dug a pit, set a horizontal drilling rig and pushed a steel pipe with tooth straight through the rock.
In many cases, it is impossible to directly excavate the ground to lay pipelines. In fact, most problems encountered when laying pipelines are encountered. At this time, the new method of horizontal directional drilling can perfectly solve this problem!
