Troy was light years ahead of other builders at the time with this build. You’d swear this was a 2023 build, it ties in so well with what’s being built now. Great job by RS for the up grades they have preformed on this master piece 👌
A little Googling confirmed what my memory was telling me from watching the episode of "Rides" so many year ago and this car was Designed by Chip Foose and then Built by Troy. I wonder why they didn't mention Chip's name at all in this video. I wonder if there's some controversy in this story.
@@seanjohnfits a few years ago there was a big thing about Chip and Troy building a car for Joe, and it sucked to drive, according to Joe. He was joking around when he said it, but there was some truth to it. Chip and Troy don't design/build daily drivers, they build show cars you can drive. Roadster shop builds things to be more drivable, and to show car levels of fit, finish, etc. Not many people are going to daily drive a car with a $40k paint job. I am not taking away from any of them, they are far beyond my skill level in building cars, and I learn a lot from watching them work. Also get some cool ideas from their builds. I build daily drivers, dirt cheap compared to these guys, I spend less than $2k painting one of mine and I don't mind chips and scratches in them, they are built to drive every day. Its a completely different mindset with those big shops, and seeing their paint work alone in person makes me feel like a monkey throwing poo at vehicles. Of course I build things for me, not for customers. They have their own thing they do, usually show cars and drivability isn't high on the list... and technology advances after the build is done.
You obviously know little about rad rides. You’ll find rock chips in a number of Troy’s builds. Joe didn’t have the wealth he has today. This build was way over budget and Joe was a diva during the entire build.

I was under the impression this was a Foose car, but its been a really long time since I saw the build on TV and don't remember all the details. I do remember Joe not wanting two tone.
Back in the early 2000’s Foose was seemingly doing two-tone on everything he designed then. Was never a fan of that as IMHO it would end up being a time stamp……aka tying the car to a period of time. When Joe saw the car in bare steel that’s what convinced him to go with Silver and he was right to do so even though others disagreed with his choice. Single tone in simple colors never goes out of style.
@@Apachefog same! I remember watching it showcased on Rides and thought Foose was behind it, if Troy was there I was too young and/or stupid to realize!

The exterior on this car is a work of art, now it has the internals to match. No matter how how rich you are owning something like that is still a privilege.
I remember listening to a podcast where Joe talked about this car and how bad it was to drive (including the front suspension failing and him almost crashing the car). Great to see it being rebuilt properly and back to Joe's ownership.
Not to knock Joe but I will say this. At the time of delivery the car had to meet the tv show deadline and didn't get the shakedown it probably needed. I personally know Troy always built cars that could be driven without issue. The other thing to consider is , after delivery, how was the car driven? Enthusiastically or pounded like a rented mule? One person's expectation of how a car can be treated might be different from how it was requested to be built.
@@tsaints1115 Very fair points. I know Troy is a top builder and has produced some legendary hot rods. I also don't know about Joe's driving habits, but he seemed very disappointed how the vehicle operated. He always praised the looks though and rightfully so.
What an awesome build! Im a little hurt inside that its not true to the mopar heritage, but that motor is perfect for the build! Not a single thing that i would change about it! Super rad rebuild here!!!
Roadster Shop has immediately jumped to the highest echelon of my own personal list of elite custom auto design and building outfits. Shawn, these episodes from RS are sheer lunacy -- I can't get over how brilliant these builds are. It comes down to REFINED TASTE. They simply have a more evolved and sophisticated notion of what goes into a comprehensive and cohesive build, and the results are manifestly obvious -- exquisitely executed rocketships that look and move like few other vehicles... Bespoke builds that are as unique as they are stunning, with looks that are matched only by their performance. I can go on and on, but the words don't do the cars justice. I'm just glad you guys did this run at Roadster Shop.. This series of episodes is going to be remembered for a long time to come. Thanks again to all who were involved... Thanks for reinvigorating my passion for all things cars. After decades of doing this stuff, sometimes it can be hard to find things that really speak to you and inspire your love for the art and the craft. This series of episodes certainly helped provide a needed booster shot of inspiration and wonder.
Noooooo you didn’t Shawn ! This is one of my favs .. Used a lot of ideas on my car from this …it’s amazing. Fun fact when i worked for BDS superchargers we did the fuel injection for the 528 as this was an engine used in a project truck for Hot Rod Magazine ..
Goosebumps watching this. I remember when Troy built this car. It has always been my favorite muscle care of all time. To see it redone to this level, no words. I love it even more. Knowing I put a roadster shop chassis under my 76 bronco makes me proud to be part of the family.
How much thought went into this interior really shows Love the fact they kept the gauge clusters analog and integrated most of the screens to really keep the timeless look, only change I would’ve liked to see is a manual hand break to allow a little more fun. But the manual shifter is definitely awesome
You can not NOT fall in love in this kind of build. It's stand above most of the cars builders. I think they made the cars above cars industry standards.
so Awesome to be able to drive Joe Rogan's car before he does, what an amazing piece of engineering. i want your job dude what a great shop and I cant wait to see more!
I remember when this car was built and taking cold showers for a week afterwards. One of my all time favorites and exactly how I would do a Cuda. Rename to slick fish !
I reckon there's at least $ 1.2m and I appreciate the hobby getting stimulus. Not to be a Debbie downer but 120k would buy you a turnkey 70 cuda funny car with a 426, supercharger, 1200hp, and trailer included. He said the modern hemis wouldn't fit so he had to go with a ls7. Calling bs on that. Remove the supercharger, add twin turbos and it would've cleared the hood. He immediately heads off to build a tt grand national. Grrrrr.
Dang I came here after listening to Joe rogans podcast with the roadster shop guys and man was I not disappointed such a beautiful car and that mercury motor is amazing 🔥🔥🔥
The car is absolutely stunning, it`s good to be Joe Rogan, I follow his podcasts, the thought and effort that went into frame work is incredible, and keeping the interior some what stock looking, but upgraded to modern times, the interior is a work of art in itself, I love stock and stock ride height, but lets face it, you put a monster hemi in these Cuda`s and they were a handful to drive, the stance is absolutely perfect, and it looks like a pleasure to drive, hats off to the body work and tucked bumpers and rear deck lid, those panels are dead flat, love the color as well, sick fish is spot on.
Good God - how good is this car WOW! Massive horsepower wrapped within high quality class. Has to be one of the best cars you have videoed Shawn? Love love love it!
Iconic is a saying we may throw around to often. This car was dope back in 2004 and Wowzers, Roadster shop made it even more iconic. When car guys l, who are able to drive almost anything out there in the wild and there impressed. You know how special of a car and moment you are a part of ❤ What a great piece of car culture.
That shot with them making the left at the traffic light! I just about rolled out of my chair over how fucking beautiful that thing is. The wheel/tire proportion, lack of roll, the stupid Cuda/Challenger profile taken up five notches, just awe! That might be the most badass custom car I’ve seen as far as all around perfection. I’ve seen others I’d prefer as far as look, and heritage, like that Torino awhile back, yet this thing…..honestly it made me cry a little bit over its beauty. No bullshit I had to rewind that turn at the light like four times and wipe my eyes twice!! Yeah. I’m in deep, baby. Deeep.
Well Joe knows what he wants and likes and let's face it the man has earned everything he has... nothing has been handed to him.i remember Joe from going to greatwoods in Massachusetts he was a security/ ticket taker he would not remember me from a hole in the wall but that's ok....I am glad I got to see him then and see him now. He's a class act.and I can guarantee he has not forgotten where he came from.great work these guy did I have done some cars but nothing like that factory resto stuff....👌👍✌️
The real star of this video is not the beautiful car, the work done or the sound of that rogan mobile, it's the respect, admiration and recognition of another master of the game. While other arts will talk down another, this was a master class in respect and acknowledgement. Inspiring.
Joe Rogan is great-the car looks and sounds great. Being a mopar fan the GM based engine pisses me off but not my car not my business. All GM-ford and Toyota funny cars and most pro mods and a lot of street outlaw cars run mopar HEMIs

@@tsaints1115 Very fair points. I know Troy is a top builder and has produced some legendary hot rods. I also don't know about Joe's driving habits, but he seemed very disappointed how the vehicle operated. He always praised the looks though and rightfully so.
Thank you for this feature, the car looks amazing and sounds so good!
Everything about this car is just absolutely beautiful. Knock it out the park for sure.
Absolutely amazing Hotrod. You can really see just from the video that thing hugs the turns. Thanks for sharing!
I remember watching this being built, Troy did a great job.
Wasn't Chip Foose part of this project? How was his name not mentioned at all in this video?
Chip just drew a concept of it. He didn't build it.
Impossible not to smile ear to ear. Much respect.
They took a very unique car and made it cookie cutter. It's not that impressive of a build.
What a masterpiece, so impressed by attention too detail, choices on interior are spot on. Love that it goes to JR, he will truly enjoy this one 👊
THE GAP ON THE HOOD THOUGH!!!! YUCK (FRONT DRIVER SIDE) WTF, HEELLL NAWWWW
When the builder got behind the wheel the whole video had a change of pace. Hell ya
So simple and clean build, nothing that pops at your face. Just simple beautiful details like the interior door handles.😍
omg i thought this was just built.. wtf 20 years old. IM IN SHOCK. truly timeless
Really cool you were part of the original build. Gotta say, this thing is now a perfect driving car and still looks as good as it ever did
Goosebumps watching this. I remember when Troy built this car. It has always been my favorite muscle care of all time. To see it redone to this level, no words. I love it even more. Knowing I put a roadster shop chassis under my 76 bronco makes me proud to be part of the family.
How much thought went into this interior really shows
Love the fact they kept the gauge clusters analog and integrated most of the screens to really keep the timeless look, only change I would’ve liked to see is a manual hand break to allow a little more fun. But the manual shifter is definitely awesome
I remember when they first built this car on the show RIDES. It's still one of may favorites and I'm a chevy guy. great video as usual!
Sick fish has always been one of my favorite cudas ever 😊
I feel like the Sick Fish belongs to all of us for the last 20 years . Heard the stories glad it's back on the road
We all wish our cars handled like that. Think Joe will be happy. Nice episode.
Thank you very much RS for sharing Jose Cuda with us. Clean well-organized a beautiful! Car
One of the cleanest, absolutely sick looking cars I've ever seen. What a masterpiece.
Same for me
You can not NOT fall in love in this kind of build. It's stand above most of the cars builders. I think they made the cars above cars industry standards.
Amazing work by RS and Jeremy is legendary top of the game for design interiors.
Had to watch this again, anything RS puts their talent to is worth seeing more than once. The respect they have is world wide.
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, what a beautiful ride. So glad it's back and BETTER!
Insane how flawless this car is in looks and drivability!!
so Awesome to be able to drive Joe Rogan's car before he does, what an amazing piece of engineering. i want your job dude what a great shop and I cant wait to see more!
I remember when this car was built and taking cold showers for a week afterwards. One of my all time favorites and exactly how I would do a Cuda. Rename to slick fish !
what a build!! Joe Rogan is a lucky man! Driving a machine like this every day must be one of the best feelings!
Ingenious rebuild. Top notch work.
Absolutely sick car! They knocked this build out of the park!
Sweet ride. Its like 1% of the original car but still the best Cuda build I've ever seen
That is one sweet ride. Some of the best fabrication and attention to detail I've ever seen. The handling is unbelievable.
When you got Joe Rogan money.
His podcast is ....ok?!!......
Rogan money is F U MONEY
I reckon there's at least $ 1.2m and I appreciate the hobby getting stimulus. Not to be a Debbie downer but 120k would buy you a turnkey 70 cuda funny car with a 426, supercharger, 1200hp, and trailer included. He said the modern hemis wouldn't fit so he had to go with a ls7. Calling bs on that. Remove the supercharger, add twin turbos and it would've cleared the hood. He immediately heads off to build a tt grand national. Grrrrr.
yup wild with that boat motor in it.
@@minibikemadmanthat’s funny I thought it was a boat motor 😮
Dang I came here after listening to Joe rogans podcast with the roadster shop guys and man was I not disappointed such a beautiful car and that mercury motor is amazing 🔥🔥🔥
This build is exceptional and that high revving Merc is wonderful!
This is the most extraordinary sound I’ve ever heard from any V8. Seriously, ANY V8. The sound is actually beautiful. Wow. 😎😎😎
This is an AWESOME channel guys. Keep up the good work! I’m always anticipating every video. That property owner needs to chill out a bit much 🤣😂🤣
Good God - how good is this car WOW! Massive horsepower wrapped within high quality class. Has to be one of the best cars you have videoed Shawn? Love love love it!
The epitome of a pro touring build!
Iconic is a saying we may throw around to often. This car was dope back in 2004 and Wowzers, Roadster shop made it even more iconic.
When car guys l, who are able to drive almost anything out there in the wild and there impressed. You know how special of a car and moment you are a part of ❤
What a great piece of car culture.
The RS guys did an incredible job with this gem
Mind blowing Cuda 😍. This channel is absolutely next level, thanks for sharing these wild cars with us Shawn 😎🤙🏼
Roadster shop has absolutely taking over the car builds. I don’t think they get the credit deserved
Deeep.
32:07 are we going to say that was tire smoke or a Merc burning oil?
The new wheels look really good👌🏽
What a killer car! Do an episode when the owners take delivery
I remember watching the episode when they built it back in 2004. This car is stunning. BTW, all cars built by Troy is stunning.
Super clean!! The 70's Cuda has such great lines and they improved them here.
Been witness to twin 1500hp Mercury engine's on song it's such a sweet sound that just love's to rev
So happy Joe's going to get to enjoy this. He's talked about it a lot, along with the fact that it just "wasn't right", and was so happy the Roadster Shop was going to update it for him.
.
Well, I think they knocked it out of the fu©king park with this one 🔥
The real star of this video is not the beautiful car, the work done or the sound of that rogan mobile, it's the respect, admiration and recognition of another master of the game. While other arts will talk down another, this was a master class in respect and acknowledgement. Inspiring.
That engine has a super rad sound. Of all the engines to put back into that car.. that's pretty proper!
That build is unreal!
Joe Rogan is great-the car looks and sounds great.
Being a mopar fan the GM based engine pisses me off but not my car not my business. All GM-ford and Toyota funny cars and most pro mods and a lot of street outlaw cars run mopar HEMIs
I hear ya but personally I love that SB4 from Mercury
