Just as a heads up to everyone: the stud by the fuse box that he pointed to is hot. Not a ground wire so be careful not to arc your tooland hand when removing it. Also the wire that he's referring to by the started is also HOT. The starter grounds itself to the drivetrain through mating and 2 bolts. With that being said you should remove the ground from the battery before attempting any of these services. Keep safe 👍
My man, I’ve had the same problem for several years now and replaced the alternator and battery three times each cost in multiple thousands of dollars and still got stuck on the side of the road so I came across this video and shook the ground terminal that’s in the engine compartment poured some water on it and got my car started again. We were having the exact issue on our 2015 Traverse and I cleaned the hot (red) points in the engine compartment with a wire brush and Electrical Parts Cleaner, put them back together carefully, being sure not to ground myself, and we are back in business. Just wanted to say thank you for this video! My Traverse wouldn’t start, only clicking noises. Watched this video, found the compartment behind the passenger seat - and the negative terminal there had a huge amount of corrosion. I took a wire brush (and a hand vacuum to capture it all, also a mask to not breathe it in) and cleaned it well (removed the terminal and cleaned it throughout while disconnected). As soon as I did that - the car started right up! Also as I reconnected the Negative terminal there - I got a tiny spark, which gave me a hopeful sign that this would start back up.
Brother I was stuck at work and hotter than a hornet. Found ur video and it fired right up. For me it was just gowd awful terminals they use, everything was clean just poor contact. And that positive you showed actually has two heavy wires one stacked atop the other make sure those have no build up between them. Thanks bro saved a lot of anger.

The post up under the hood in this video is POSITIVE 12V, Sorry just thought that i would say something? The lug up under the hood few inches away towards the drivers side fender is the negative post no wire attached. And both are meant for jump starting the car only. And yes even the Red Positive wire can become corroded up under the hood just like the Chevrolet HHR. And back at the battery terminals.

Rapid clicking means u have a bad connection, which could be what you were saying, cleaning terminals. But if it just makes one click. Then you need to replace your starter.
I have rapid clicking and also i just replaced the alternator, the battery light would still come on and off intermittently when driving. Could corrosion be the reason it won't start now? When I turn the key I hear a sound that to me sounds like a fan mixed with scrapping. The lights come on but car does not start.

Sometimes if you don't have the bolt tightened enough it will still "click" because the plastic around the bolt broke and it felt tight, but was not, so had to liquid weld underneath to hold post in place while I tightened the nut! Always check relays, fuses, wires, connections anything that is ready there before you throw money at it! Good job on the video bro!
I have this problem the other problem I have every 4 months I’m changing my passenger dim head light bulb. Exhaust too. It use sound like a clicking sound thinking shit a head gasket. Got censor fixed by the exhaust and exhaust fixed went away. Now it’s back. The worst vehicle I’ve ever own. I have a 2011 traverse.
Been using hondas and Toyotas for almost 20 years And decide to get a traverse a couples years ago because the family was getting bigger But problems started with mass air flow sensor , air compressor Stability track problems and more every time I fix a problem Honestly I get tired and stressed of this car And decide to never going buy a GM car again
That is the Positive connecter it goes to the starter , alternator and battery it is Not the ground !! the ground is to the left of the fuse box you put the ground to jump the car .
Ok chief... ill get on this this week. Wifes traverse was at mechanic for 3 months.. he told us engine was toast. Was going to do the breaker bar thinh on the engine bolt but b4 i did i hooked upnher battery to battery charger like you did and tried to crank it after 3hrs of charging but 4gelot to switch charger to start and all i hear is starter clicking noise. Car has plenty of oil. Ill donehat you didnand uodat u. Many tks bruh 4takjing the time
Was having same starting issue. However I ran through the gears and that got it started. Think it might be a linkage issue on mine and maybe some of y'all's.
Good work detective. I had the same problem with a riding mower. I have a 2011 acadia( same as traverse ) that will crank but not start. Compression is low so I'm taking the timing cover off to see if that is messed up.
@@christalone0188 Nope, still working on it when I can. Its a complex car and mine is complaining about no signal from the gas pedal but when I put a meter on it, there's a signal coming out. Those 2 wires go behind the dashboard and they are hard to backpin on the ECU. The throttle body seems to be a common problem with these and the timing chain is kind of cheap.
I am going to try this today. I just replaced my alternator and the car started working but the battery light still goes on and off when driving. Today I went to start it and it foes not start but makes this noise that almost sound like a fan trying to run mixed with scraping. I purchased a starter for shipping but just canceled it in case that isn't the issue. I'm going to try this but I am wondering what do I need to disconnect so that I don't unalive myself while trying this. I pray this is it.
Traverses battery is under the back seat and has ground lugs to the frame. And the positive has a long wire to a terminal under the hood for jump starting. The grounds on the frame is the problem from moisture and road grime.
@@dolmyers I ended up taking it to a shop. They found out that the wires to the battery and starter we're shorting out somewhere. They replace the battery cables and then the car works fine
Are you sure this solved the issue because I found someone who said they had to just let their car set for an hour and it would start again everytime this happened. And my friend just did that work his and it worked.

I’m having this problem right now! The car radio and lights are on but it won’t start and even gives off the clicking noise you mentioned!

Either relay fuse or the starter
And after you remove the corrosion clean them use a low voltage grease to prevent further erosion or get a splash shield if possible

Having the same issue! Gonna try this but wondering is it just those two grounds you showed or is there more to clean?
Make it a habit that when you change your car battery you also clean your terminals.

You just don't know a traverse. There's a ground lug on the fire wall and the positive is covered with a red cap.
