My dad had an old RS turbo. The 1.6, and he nodded it. Also a custom version (with the side indicators) I think he said it was near 400HP. Went off the clock, and because they were light it flew. Fast enough to keep with a new 458.
i remember late 90's when v8's werent turboed much and when they were they still werent crazy HP, now there are 2 litres pulling 1000hp its crazy hows things evolved and became cheaper too
My favourite bit purely out of nostalgia is that big single exhaust, brings me right back to the 90s looning around in a s2 RS turbo, this thing could bend light though! What a weapon 💪

T5 is a 2.5 engine. This is a 2.3 at least in the states it is. Ive got a volvo s60(2.5 base) just sitting around. I may take it out and modify it just to get the better exhaust manifold flow(5 plenums instead of 1) and take advantage of the twin scroll

Honestly we came with 0-60/62 decades ago. Maybe it was a great measure of performance in the 80's and 90's but now the cars are soo much faster. I think we need to use the 0 to 100 mph.
Not all cars are equal and all have their purpose. F1 great cornering and acceleration. Rally cars perfect for dirt and being airborne. Thrust SSC perfect for straight line speed. Bumper cars(Dodgems) great for slamming into each other. I think my point is this is not for wet country lanes then attempting 0-60 times. More suited for outrunning the plod in those dual carriageways. 🤣

Traction from the mk 2 focus RS is bloody impressive even on road tyres but 350 ish seems to be the limit in the dry before you start cut back the power in 1st and 2nd.
@@kevbarry7453 A lot, the Mk2's were made in very small numbers with places like NZ only getting 12, South Africa around 50 So the RS part costs the most. I've got the 3 Dr ST for a time attack car and its same engine with different rods and Turbo, so cheaper to build it up. but it is a lot of work.

@@jobu9737 plenty of 2.5 T5's in the States, the Focus ST and RS uses a variation of the engine that initially appeared in the Volvo S60R/V70R.
It's an I5 engine not a T5

JoBua mk2 RS has a 2.5 5 cylinder which wasn’t available in the states whereas the mk3 has a 2.3 litre

Traction from the mk 2 focus RS is bloody impressive even on road tyres but 350 ish seems to be the limit in the dry before you start cut back the power in 1st and 2nd.
So how much does 900hp cost? Interesting that it is powered by Volvo.
This car was designed when Ford still owned Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover and Aston Martin, that's why Ford was able to use the Volvo Turbo !!

@@kevbarry7453 A lot, the Mk2's were made in very small numbers with places like NZ only getting 12, South Africa around 50 So the RS part costs the most. I've got the 3 Dr ST for a time attack car and its same engine with different rods and Turbo, so cheaper to build it up. but it is a lot of work.
