    *Correction* Always export with a loudness target of -16 LUFS. Hindenburg will detect whether your file is mono or stereo and give it a 3 dB penalty if it is mono, making peak/RMS ratio the same as stereo. (Time stamp 25:32)

    Since my very first podcast setup - around 2013 - I was never able to get a smooth sound after a software update rendered my audio interface unusable - Thanks Roland! I resurrected my Audio Technica AT3035 microphone, purchased a Yamaha AGO6 and tested it out with Hindenburg after initially watching this video. Sweeeeet! :-) And then took advantage of their Black Friday deal. Happy!! Thanks Buzzsprout!

    Thanks for this excellent tutorial -- you did a fantastic job here! After so many years of trying other DAWs, then not liking them and always reverting back to Audacity, I really think Hindenburg has hit the sweet spot with this product. I got it "free" with my Focusrite Vocaster One, and while I really like the Vocaster, to me Hindenburg (Lite) is worth the price of the whole package.

    Hey bro, does it auto fade in and out when you do random cut or clear? Reaper usually do that so we don't have to manually set it everytime.

    • @Buzzsprout
      @Buzzsprout  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey there! It looks like Hindenburg doesn't auto-apply fades after cuts like Reaper, so you'll have to adjust fades manually to smooth edits. It's designed for ease and podcast quality, but tweaking details lets you control your sound.

    Looks good, keen to try the 90 day trial. I'm sure I could research this... but it may be useful for other folk to know... I didn't see any magnetic/snapping when you were moving tracks around. Is this possible?

    • @Buzzsprout
      @Buzzsprout  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not magnetic, but Hindenburg does assume that you want your tracks touching each other and will default to that when moving tracks. You can override it by pushing the track past that point, but it's something you have to intentionally do

    I finally pulled the trigger and I like it so far. I recorded one VO audition with this and it sounds smooth with my upgraded hardware, Rode NT1a and Focusrite Vocaster One. Now if I can find a way to import my Audacity podcast templates into Hindenburg so I don't have to build them all over again that would great. I tried importing an aup file but that failed. I'll need to try something else. It will import a finished podcast in mp3 format and play though.

    Has any Audacity users purchased the non PRO version of Hindenburg Journalist, and if so why? I've downloaded the trial version today, and elected not to include the PRO trial version as I know that I will not be investing over $400 CDN at this point in time, but may be willing to upgrade down the road. Based on my limited use of the trial so far, I can see some benefit to purchasing the basic version, but as of yet I'm not convinced. Would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

    I'm feeling like I've outgrown Garage Band, I'm a Mac guy 100%. Would you recommend Hindenburg or Logic Pro? To this point, music production hasn't been a hobby of mine, so not a huge issue for me. Thanks for any thoughts!

      And is the direct Hindenburg/Buzzsprout integration compatible with Magic Mastering?

  • @memoriesofamoonbird
    @memoriesofamoonbird 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I use Logic Pro X and have been engineering with it for over a decade. Do you think there's any reason to switch and purchase another product when I'm already versed in this one, have my workflow and plug-ins, etc.? I'm open to it if there are solid reasons to switch.

    • @Buzzsprout
      @Buzzsprout  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're happy with your Logic Pro X workflow, then it's probably best to stick with it.
      The only reason to switch from that is if you think Hindenburg will save you time and still maintain the same audio quality.
      One thing to set your mind at ease - all of your plug-ins should work in Hindenburg, so you should still be able to do all of the same mixing and mastering that you do in Logic.

    Great tutorial. I’m new to Hindenburg Journalist and plan to use it for my podcast. Since you’re using Hindenburg to auto process your vocal track, do you leave the processing OFF in the Rodecaster Pro?

    • @Buzzsprout
      @Buzzsprout  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It definitely depends on your preference and taste. In general, we like to record clean audio (no effects) into the Rodecaster Pro and all of our mixing and mastering in Hindenburg. But if there are some effects you really like on the Rodecaster, it doesn't hurt to do a bit of processing during the recording

    I'm trying to decide whether to get Hindenburg. How does recording an interview in Squadcast work with it? Does it import two tracks or one. If it imports two tracks and I need to delete something, is there a way to delete from both tracks at the same time so they remain synced?

    • @Buzzsprout
      @Buzzsprout  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi James! Yes, you can use Squadcast and Hindenburg together really easily. You import two audio tracks and can edit them separately.
      To be honest, you'll likely be deleting large portions of both tracks because you often only want one mic to be live. So you'd delete my track while you were talking.
      But yes, I believe you can delete the same location on both tracks at the same time. - Alban

  • @ripka17
    @ripka17 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    ok ok ok.. where do i start... I understand that you don't have to be an audio engineer to edit a podcast. You don't even have to be a Producer working in a radio station. BUT, when you are putting up a video for Buzzsprout, whom i have a great amount of respect for, I would be sure not to use phrases, I don't know what that is for. S for solo is for getting your pre fader levels for that particular channel. so in your DAW, if you press that s button, imagine all of your pre sets like your Volume control which you DO absolutely need for each channel is bypassed so you can get a level of your unprocessed raw audio. so if you have a compressor, EQ, Noise Gate, and your channel level set and you want to find out what is happening on that channel, ie. you may have a ground loop hum or you may have random peaking or maybe you just can't get the channels to match up (tip here, use your volume, Channel slider, to equal out your channel incoming audio.) but you can press your solo button and get your raw levels on each channel to set your gain. yes, gain is not a volume control bus, it is a measure of how much sound you are actually allowing to come into the mic. think of it like a dam. when you open it up more water flows. same thing with the gain. when you increase the power or Gain in power to that preamp, you let more sound flood into the mic and on down the channel to the fader. I would be happy to collaborate with you on your next audio, live stream, or video production project you do if you would like to be sure your hitting all of your cues. however, great video. I do think the others are just as easy to master but after you learn one, they all pretty much operate the same way.
