The simple tricks such as "come" or "lie down" did surprise me at a little, but I figured it wouldn't take that long at all considering how smart cats are. (I knew that they're underestimated compared to dogs in some ways.) However for as quick as she caught on to how to do the "high-5" it did surprise me a little more.🙂
Thank you for the informative video. Though i speak 'cat' to my precious felines, it helps to be informed, especially when it comes to their feelings. They are fascinating creatures with souls. My life dedicated to serve and protect them, they are and forever will be my top priority. ❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️
* No, not really. I've noticed that cats really watch their owners like a hawk. They are fully and consciously aware of who takes care of them. So they want to know everything that's going on with them. They will notice when you're not being quite yourself, and when you're not giving them the usual amount of attention. They really are creatures of habit and routine.
@@Catlily5they do care, and they’re loyal. My Bee was friendly with a former neighbour. I used to hear him chatting to her on the stairs. She would follow him when he did his laundry because the clothesline was on the roof. She loved getting out there. He was always mindful not to lock her out. Then I got into an argument with my roommate over a serious issue. While I was overseas visiting my mother, the roommate went to great lengths to get the neighbour on his side. So when I returned the neighbour and the roommate teamed up to make my life unpleasant. Bee wouldn’t have anything to do with the neighbour after that. I know this because he told me himself that he’d fallen out with her. No more friendly conversations on the stairs. Don’t mess with my mommy. 😂🐾😻💕
When my husband had cancer and entered hospice care in our home, our cat started laying at his feet on the bed. As he got sicker, the cat moved up higher toward his head. Cat would hiss at the nurses trying to move her so they could change his sheets. Finally she moved up by his shoulder and I knew that would be his last night with us. And it was. She’s awesome.
Sad that the poor hospice nurses had to deal with the house pet hissing at them. So sorry your husband died (janice) and with hospice care it wasn't pretty. My wife was a nurse who would have been trying to change the bedding of your husband while the cat was interfering. While the trope cat hissing at health care workers seems cool, the reality is that those nurses are trying to provide the best care they can to a dying person. It's a reality that people don't REALLY understand until they experience it. My wife died from covid recently. No pet to foreshadow. Only wonderful nurses providing the best care they could.
True story. My 13 yr old cat, Chester, told me I had cancer after I had found a lump between my right arm pit and my breast. He has always laid on my left hip, since he was a baby, and suddenly he started getting up under my right arm pit and meowing at me, non stop. He would nuzzle his head into my armpit and meow to me. That's when I knew. He told me and he was right. He knew. Could he smell it or just sense it? Well, It was cancer. I had a mastectomy of my right breast 07/27/2022. My baby boy has been my protector all along. He is my hero.
My sister-in-law took in my cat when I had a stroke and was sent to a nursing home for rehab. She was afraid her cat (a bad actor) would not be happy, but her cat actually accepted my cat and there were no fights, thank God. My SIL had a king-size bed and both cats slept on it. She told me that my cat was sleeping up against her abdomen and stomach and in fact she hadn't been feeling well. Her doctors didn't know what was wrong but she was in a great deal of pain. She said my cat "Junior" made her feel better by sleeping there. My poor SIL ended up being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and within a year, we lost her. Junior was a great emotional support to her and even though I came home from the rehab, I left him with her for 6 additional months until after her death. I couldn't have asked for a better home for him nor could I snatch him away. It is a common thing that if we were ill or had surgery and were lying on the couch recuperating, one of our cats would jump up and lie down with us, and I have the many photos to show it. I had one cat that was anti-social as all hell, just not a lap cat at all. I was fired from a job and even though it was spite and I was prepared for it, I was extremely upset. It was the only night that cat slept with me in her entire life (around 16 years).
I have definitely seen a mother feral use a special sound, sort of a trilling meow, to tell her kitten, hiding under cars, that it’s safe to come over to visit. She also meows for me, sort of a crying sound, to come out and feed her. And she’s very smart.
Yeah some of those studies are full of it. I've seen two feral adult cats, the male calling the female with a meow. It was a distinct meow; like it was directed. They were a bonded pair. I've also heard a certain meow can be a mating call. To say they molded it after babies crying is so anthropomorphic. Mammals, and mammal babies all over make noises, it isn't exclusive to humans.
Our kitty only got into my lap when I was pregnant. So when I got pregnant with our second child, I knew I'd conceived days before I could take the test, because she started curling up in my lap again. We got a big laugh about it. She also started to to howl something that sounded a lot like "mama" after a couple years of toddlers about. It was really alarming at 3 in the morning.
Every night my cat Tiger gives me and my wife "ni ni lovings" When I'm ready to go to bed he soon joins us in bed, sometimes he will sleep with us and other times he just kneads into the blankets, and snuggles up against us. Even when he's asleep elsewhere and I go to bed, he always has that 6th sense awareness and wakes up to go join us. And when I wake up the next day, he lays in my lap after I've had something to eat. He is so precious and such a sweetheart. Cats are such an incredible blessing and a phenomenal joy to have!
How accurate of you to say "I am owned by two cats" and "they are great at training humans.” I read the motto: "A dog has an owner, a cat has staff.” Being myself currently owned by two cats as well, I will modestly say I have received impeccable training!
I cat-sat a lovely little ginger named Pelle (along with the people I lived with at the time) for a few months. I was really struggling with my depression at the time, some days worse than others. One day I was glued to my bed. Couldn’t for the life of me get up. Not even to get a glass of water. Pelle is normally a very independent cat. He doesn’t particularly like people touching him. However on this day, he snuggled up with me in bed and spent the entire day with me. From when I woke up until evening. ❤🥺I will forever treasure those moments. If it weren’t for his support, I don’t know if I would have me it through that day.
My cat knew I had PTSD, at the the time I was having nightmares and wetting the bed, so she did it too. I took her to the vet who told me she was sensing my anxiety. I sent her to live with my daughter and it stopped. I wish it was that easy for me!!
My cat sits his sweet body right over the lower part of my abdomen when I have my period. The warmth and purring is so comforting when I have cramps. Also, he knows I love making up songs, some about him. He slow blinks at me when I sing out sometimes. Other times, he rolls his eyes and lays his head down like "do you ever stop the shit?" Lol
I've shared the past ten years with a pair of lovely cats. They are sisters. I can definitely distinguish their meows, purrs and the pacing of their walk from each other.
My previous cat and I were very close. I could always tell what he was feeling just from the look in his eyes. Whether he wanted attention or planned on doing something, he shouldn't. Fred was definitely my morning alarm clock he'd get upstairs and start crying at my bedroom door to wake me up so he could get his morning hug, unfortunately last year I found out he had a tumour and he had to be put to sleep. It's taken me almost a year to get over losing him. I now have a new kitten, but she's a lot of hard work. She's mostly at the stage where she wants to play and fight everything. I also keep an eye on her at 8 pm because that's when she goes completely wild, and I have to keep an eye on her until it's her bedtime. Nia's a lot of hard work, but she's very sweet when she wants to be.
I will admit having to put down your precious kitty is one of the hardest things to do 😢 but taking in a kitten is very rewarding. It may seem tiresome in the beginning but will definitely be worth it ❤️
i love the name Fred for a cat! Wanting to get another one SO badly, I miss having a cat, but unfortunately I was surprised gifted a bird....still debating the wisdom of getting a hyper new cat. Maybe I'd foster an elderly cat who needs love for a while instead.
My cat Alex was like that when I first got her, went completely crazy and I didn't get any sleep until the 2nd day and then when she turned 6 months old that was a nightmare
Yes! My guy jumped on and off my bed like a ton of bricks BUT when I had a migraine he climbed up so softly I'd barely feel him. He'd sniff under my nose then gently lie close, but not too close and purr. Then he'd softly get down. He'd repeat his pattern until I was finally well again then he'd be right back to his old ways. My lovely buddy.
Our cat Tiger was particularly fond of my younger sister. One day when I stayed home from school I noticed Tiger came down the stairs from his napping place right about 3:15 to wait for her. I could tell he had just been sleeping because of all the yawning and head shaking. Incredible.
My cat Charlie usually sleeps by my feet at nighttime, I’ve had several surgeries and every time I come home from the hospital he sleeps right next to my face and stays with me day and night. He purrs and let’s me pet him for hours and hours on end and as soon as I get better he goes back to his usual spot. Cats are awesome, sweet and so loving!
7:31 Cats will also use a certain purr called a solicitation purr, which has a specific higher frequency, also thought to mimic the frequency of a baby crying.
At one point I had 3 cats. All of them taken in because they needed re homing. One thing they did that delighted me was greet me when I got home after work. As I pulled into my parking spot there the would be. All three of them crossing the lot to say welcome home (come feed me). How I loved and enjoyed them. ❤️🇨🇦
My roommate of 12 years, Twinkle, expects me to go to bed at the same time Sunday - Thursday. She wakes me up five minutes before my alarm goes off Monday - Friday. She doesn’t behave the same way on the weekends. She knows what day it is and what I should be doing.
So true and I've noticed that when my work week is off kilter (like a holiday weekend), they are confused. They still get fed at the same time, regardless, but they are confused if I sleep in when normally I wouldn't, tugging at me.
I have a mixed cat, she sleeps with me and goes outside when I go to work. Same thing cat wakes me up 5 10 mins before my alarm. On weekends she doesn't bother. As soon as she here's me pull up she runs to the door and sits down facing away from me towards the door
Cats are just a wonder sent to us to make us humble. It's impossible to understand them but at the same time we think we know them well. One thing is certain : when cat needs something it will get it no matter what .
I have two cats of my own but am daily visited by a number of strays. They have their own individual way of telling me when they want to eat and will even reply to me when I talk to them. Cats are far more intelligent than most people believe. When my Lucy comes in during the night she jumps on my bed and lets me know she wants fed by head-butting my chin. She doesn't do this lightly and there is no way I can avoid waking up and feeding her. She learned this from another female who unfortunately died earlier this year. I love all my cats, even the feral ones I can't touch but who are great company for me.
Semplicemente adorabili ❤️❤❤
One of my cats is a very smart girl. Over the years she not only developed ‘sign language’ and actions to communicate with us, she even created certain vocabulary. She has specific words for things which excites her, like lizard (Wang wang), birds (cit cit), and also use singular sound to acknowledge positive/yes/ok, while plurals are negative/no/I don’t want.
My cat of 13 years died 2 months ago from cancer. She taught me a lot. With her I finally figured out why cats meow at the door but don't go when you open it (it means "Let's go", not "let me out"). I taught her the "what's up" head shake. She was very hilarious doing it. And I always knew when she needed something. She would yell and I'd ask her to show, she would lead me where the help was needed. She knew my schedule and by the time of the alarm she was already waiting by the bed. And she could complain! I could come from work and she would tell me "all about it". I once asked who abused my cat while I was gone, my husband "me.. who told you? But I did not mean it. I offered her a treat, she came and I realized we were completely out". She did not talk to him anymore that day lol.
When I brought my rescue cat home, I gave him some treats and he responded with “arowl”. So the next time I gave him some treats I said, “arowl” and my cat looked at me in astonishment and probably thinking that I was getting smarter.
I've learned to interpret Norman's body and verbal language. Last week he was intently looking under the stove, I pulled out the drawer and discovered a treasure trove of ping pong balls (his favorite toy). Tonight he was looking intently at the closet door. Turns out his kitty sister Gabby was shut in there. When I get home from work he yells at me until I sit or lay down and relax.
Cats are amazing creatures. (I wouldn't give up mine for the world) If there are any owners that have the time to do so, I'm sure you could train your own to do some tricks. I was able train my smart, sweet heart to do simple things like "lay down, come, & high-5" ❤❤😍
The best part of that is the time you spent together during training. ❤ We were asked to take a little guy who was abandoned at our small local private airport in the middle of nowhere. We named him Dozer because he is like a bulldozer of affection. "You will stop what you're doing right now and succumb!" He's determined and relentless. We're going to start training very soon. He's incredibly smart and I'm so excited to start training! He's already super happy and uninhibited and tickling his brain can only help to keep him a happy kitty.
@@lonnagardiner1728 Thank you 🙂 It breaks my heart when animals get abandoned but when they’re rescued by such SWEET people like yourself that bring hope for them it’s good to know that there are still such WONDERFUL people that still care. Best wishes to you and your new cat. 😇
My cat used to wait in front of our bedroom door a few minutes before my gf got up to go to work. As soon as she'd open the door he started meowing (sounded more like talking really). He didn't want food or anything, she'd just pet him and talk to him and they did that pretty much everyday for the last years of his life. When she'd come back from work he'd often jump on the hood and start trying to get her attention through the windshield. I'm more on a bit of a night schedule and we had our own rituals and every time I'd come out the bedroom I'd wait about 2 seconds and hear him jump off his favourite couch and run over to see me. I've had numerous cats. I still love all of them even if they have passed away, and I'm not sure I can't take another heartbreak....call me weird, call me weak, I just miss them so much.
Cats definitely know their owners voice. I have proof. I talked to my cat on the phone and she was rubbing up against the phone and rolling around on the floor. It was precious.
Reading all these comments about how their cats helped them brings so much joy to my heart. It seems like just the other day I got my cat but she’s already 9 years old 😞 it’s gonna be a tough one when she goes, but hopefully not for a long time
i miss my cat Knuckles so much. He was 21, beautiful, and pretty mellow in his old years. Very intelligent, put up with a lot of cross country trips and late night partying. My old boy. There is nothing like a cat, and I say this as someone who right now has a dog and a bird but misses the purr of a cat.
My cat Tiger-J gets me up in the morning, so I would feed him. If I don't feed him right away, he pats at me with his paws 🐾 or nips at me with his fangs until I get up and feed him.❤
Nope, my cat taught me all that stuff within a few weeks of adopting him from our RSPCA , he was two then and fourteen now and still checking that I haven't forgotten anything.
When I was working on Amtrak trains, my cat knew what me putting on my uniform meant and would sit with her back to me as I dressed to show her disdain. And when I returned on the third day, she would be waiting in the front window watching for me. We also had fluent conversations. It was a two-way chat.
I love your videos. And this video reminds me of my furbaby. I have to spell out certain things to Chewy and people because I've taught my cat Treats, Greenies, 7 am, 7 pm(time means food time) My baby hangs around when I have study time with the Bible. She likes to play with the pen
My 13 year old female Ragamuffin can understand when I speak to her and can tell time. 🙂 She gets a treat between 4:30 and 5:00 every afternoon. She'll find me and meow at me letting me know it's time. I have a dog and a parrot too. My cat doesn't react when I call their names, only hers.
Strangely my cats does not show any reaction when saying "treats!" or "food", even though they've heard it for years. They do react when saying the other cat's name, like directly looking in the direction of the Window (which they use to go in/out from) to see if the other cat is coming in.
When we got our cat from the shelter, she refused to sit on our laps for a good 7 months or so. Then I had my gallbladder surgery, and she hasn’t left my lap since and that was over 2 years ago. My cat also likes to start knocking things over when she wants something and not getting it lol.
I have two cats who are best buddies, and they do meow to each other. In the morning, one will be sleeping with me, and the other is somewhere else. The one by me will go downstairs and meow very loudly. The other one will come out from where he is and the two will begin early morning play. Sometimes after awhile, they will both come up to my bed and meow to wake me up to play.
Could you make a video on how to deal when you have cat allergies? I have 2 cats for 13 years (they are brothers) and only 6 months ago I started having hives, and now I am almost completely alergic to them. I write this from a HOTEL near my house where I am spending the weekend to get my allergy down to start immunotherapy. I will never let go of my cats but it seems I am on to some seriously tough year ahead of me.
How odd to suddenly develop this serious of an allergy to them! Do they go outside? I'm wondering if maybe they're getting into something (like a plant) and that's what you're allergic to instead. Anyway, I've seen these wipes that are used for quick clean-ups for cats. Would help remove either the dander or saliva you're allergic to short term. They're sold pretty much anywhere there's a pet department. Good luck to you!
@@terriwetz6077 allergies can build up slowly but the symptoms will usually show up suddenly as your sensitivity gets past your threshold. Also, tool 6 months from minor hives, to major whole body hives and finally airway block, for about 4 months I was going to dermatologists and delayed going to an allergist too much.
I am allergic to cats. My newly aquired cat eats Purina LiveClear food which is a miracle food in my opinion & allows me to live with a cat. Takes about 3 weeks to fully kick in and the cat has to have this food as at least 75% of it's diet. I also keep an air purifier going and wash comforters & vaccum hair frequently. Your reaction sounds intense so I dont know if it would work for you but has been excellent for me - never thought I could live with a cat! Best wishes to you!
@@heidihertz1902 Ty for suggestion, will check with their vet because they need urinary diet since both (as brothers) already shown kidney issues (13yo so they need some adjustments). I am already using purifiers and clean bedding as often as possible.
My husband used to get onto our cat when she'd scratch at the upstairs carpet, where his office is. One day he left to run an errand and she was still up there. She meowed a few times to make sure he was gone and then started scratching at the carpet. She knew what she was doing. I went up there and got on to her and told on her when he got home. Cats are smart.
@@EasyTiger.01343 Heh, well she passed away in May but we're getting another cat in September. We have plenty of scratch pads and a post + we're getting a cat tree. I'm sure any cat would still scratch at the carpet. We just gotta catch them in the act.
Some cats prefer to scratch on a horizontal surface. one can get a carpet"sample" ,often for free from a carpet store.put it where the kitty is scratching on the floor for them, where they naturally want to scratch. That way they have their own special place that is ok for them to scratch, and it will protect the carpet. their "scratch places" are often territorial,so one should take it as a complement that the kitty chose that place to "scratch". Best wishes.
My car know when it’s breakfast and dinner time and will start fussing if he doesn’t get it. I also had a cat that would meow softly and get in my lap when I was upset.
I have 3 cats at the moment... They all know when I'm speaking to them individually if I use their own name before a sentence... They also know from my tone if I'm telling one of them off for bad behaviour such as starting a fight... The guilty party will look ashamed/petulant/feisty depending on which one it is while the others watch with interest, knowing that they are innocent 😂 😸
Folk who say cats aren't 'as intelligent as dogs' have rarely seen/had a cat. My 10 year old girl-cat is incredible. When I cry she stays closer to me, when its treat time she reminds me (very vocally lol & bizarrely even if shes been asleep & missed the time herself haha) she's an indoor cat so her 'gift' to me when i come in is what used to be a spider, always on the floor where i sit, she follows me from room to room, and bless her when i start getting my bags ready to go out she gets a bit twitchy as she knows I'm going out (I hate that she doesnt like me going out but needs must) Shes not one for constant fussing & its only ever on her terms lol but I know when she wants attention & she gets it. It amazes me just how intelligent cats are and how they have routines they like & stick to, little creatures of habit. ❤
We domesticated a feral cat, that was living in filds around us. On the beginning, he didn't meow, he only his or made squiqi sounds. His vocalisations are different to our previous home cat. We've tiched him "sheba" So when he is hungry he will make a sound similar to that. He is still shy whit his meow sounds 😊 Having a feral cat that decided to trust us is completely different experience
@jonnyneace8928 Long story short. We've moved to static caravan in a middle of nowhere where he was living, his territory. He was hunting rats, mouses etc. We've started to feed him, and allowed him to do everything on his own paste. It took him over a year to allow us to touch him. 3 years later and he became biggest cuddles loving cat. He have his own catflap so he can do what he wants. He only trust us. We didn't plan to live for long in caravan, but now it would be unfair to move out and abond him. Also unfair to take Tyson with us from his territory :)
@jonnyneace8928 He was exploring our environment on his own paste. First time when he saw a TV he ran away. He was scared of sneezing, beer can opening etc. But step by step he got used to sound. Now winter time he will only go out to toilet, or to try to catch a mouse We feel very humble that Tysos trusted us, and chose us as his humans :)
I wake up pretty early, for once, I slept a little longer and woke by feeling 4 little feet walking up and down my thigh! My cat rarely meows, which I'd never experienced before (my last boy would "talk" back and forth forever). So if I hear a meow, I'm checking straight away. Otherwise, she'll do her squeaky little meow if food is involved!
Two things about this. 😸 The first is that one of my two cats does meow at and to the other. He does this when they're playing or if he's looking for her. When I adopted him, I was told he had not been exposed to other cats, and he had come from a "bad" situation. They didn't elaborate on that. Both cats, Bobo, the Tabby male, and our female torti, were cats that came from either abusive or troubled situations. The second thing is Bobo helped me recognize I was seriously sick! Both Bobo and Cinnamon did, but Bobo especially. Long story short, I have a growth that's still currently being treated on the right side of my breast. It's actually so small it's not visible, able to be felt, but Bobo knew! He typically likes to sleep with me or sit with me on my chair. Last month, he started literally nuzzling in the crook of my right arm. But, he was also acting differently. He would go hide under my bed for an hour or two, and my daughter even commented he acted, "depressed". I took him to the vet, and he checked out physically ok, but the Vet told me I looked flushed 😳. I had been feeling nauseous, tired, but I had started a new medication recently, so, thought nothing of it. Again, to make it short a few days after Bobo's visit, I, MYSELF was rushed to urgent care with a high fever, on the verge of whatvthe doctors said becoming Sceptic. I was immediately put on antibiotics and thankfully am doing better. Though I am still taking antibiotics now, I realized Bobo apparently noticed my illness long before I did. He's still playing Dr. Bobo as he continues to insist on sleeping in the crook of my right arm. He has Nurse Cinnamon because she began sleeping on my leg, lol. I was not a cat person until I adopted them. I love them so much and learn so much from them. Btw, I enjoy the channel very much. It's helped me to make sure my kitty angels are happy, healthy, and living their best cat lives. A big Thank you from Bobo, Cinnamon, and myself.
It’s strange. I suffer from depression and high anxiety. I don’t know what triggers it . But my three cats . One of them jumps on my lap and starts purring . Letting me pet them and calm me down.
I can smell sick too. Once my nephew slept over. When he woke up in the morning I could smell he was sick despite him still behaving normal. I told my brother in law when he picked him up. He didn’t believe me. That night I got a text saying that yes he is indeed sick.
Have always had a, or cats, around since as long as I can remember. They all had their own quirks and foibles. However, they all shared a common trait; summed up in one word, MANIPULATOR.
My cats bite my nose to wake me up for breakfast 🍳🥞! Lol. The mommy kitty did it for fun and could and would sit and giggle at me. I was shocked!!! They are not anything like we were told growing up. So much more to them. They also thought it was funny to turn off the lights by jumping up and hitting the switch and running out the door. They understand most English...it's amazing. They all 7 knew their names very young . And can phrase meows in forms of questions and exclamations. They are as smart as any human and much more loving and trustworthy ❤❤ have a great day!
I was in a car accident & at the same time my cat went bananas my neughbors said. They heard him howling & scratching at my front door. Cats know way too much & grieve!💜🐾💜
I thought kittens meowed at their cat mothers for attention. Most pet cats are usually taken from their mothers at about 8 weeks old. The human owner (or guardian if you want) , responds to these meows, so the cat carries on doing them if it gets the response from it's human parent !
I have a former feral stray that now yells at me when its late to tell me to go to bed. As soon as I pull the covers on me he jumps on me and kneads me with both his front and back feet. He get so excited he sometimes trips over himself. If I try petting him during this he will meow and back up like I am ruining his experience. He only accepts pets when he finishes kneading and finds his sleep spot. I love my crazy cat.
My cats know exactly when I'm supposed to wake up, and strategically position themselves on top of my phone to muffle the sound of the alarm. They just want to be in bed with me all day :3
Interesting video. I did notice raising foster kittens that have never been around baby humans that the foster kittens that had a mother cat learn to meow to their mother or vice versa for attention or food or if they didn’t know where their mother is. I saw one kitten that didn’t know its mother was taking time away from it by hiding under a cabinet constantly meow for the mother to hopefully comfort her it to get food so in my opinion cats didn’t learn to meow to humans from human babies but that’s something they did by nature to their original mother cat and they probably learned learned that they could get humans to behave in a certain way so just to bring them food pay attention to them.
Technically, mama cats and kittens do meow at each other. Once the nursing time is over and they're off to their new homes, the meowing between cats stops. They'll growl and hiss to protect their owners and their territory. Always get you cat fixed. If you live in a city/town/village, check the leash laws because 9 out of 10 times domesticated animals, including cats, are required to be their leash (in control of the owners) at all times that they are outdoors. Our police officer friend had their cat harnessed and I asked him why and he said that the law required it even though the cat was in the back yard, she was harnessed, on a run line, with a tree to climb. You need a harness in case the cat gets caught on the tree so it doesn't hang itself. We just keep our cat indoors. LOL...much easier that way.
My kids adopted a cat from an animal shelter and was warned he wasn't friendly. When he warmed up to me I said I would take me. It took me 2 years to calm him down but he never tried to hurt me. He became loving and loved to have his ears scratched. I was talking to him and told him I had a bad day. He took off in a run and I didn't see him for two days. I always thought his first home mistreated him but to remember a hated word years later is amazing. That word is not used in my house. EVER
If I am in a different room in my house and I call my cat Maxwell's name, he will always come to me. Also, if I just say the word "food" he gets excited and goes to his feeding station. I know there are other words he recognizes because he will have a physical reaction to them. Cats definitely have a vocabulary they learn from us humans.
I remember when i was a kid my cat was sleeping at the foot of my bed. You're right about them knowing routine. The alarm went off and i snoozed it, which is something i rarely did. Then that cat got on my chest and slapped my cheeks. Thats me been told.
One of my cats has a specific, highly pitched cry that he makes if he wakes in the night and he can't remember where I am. I also think it's when he has a bad dream, because there's a specific tone of fear and disorientation. It makes me fly into the landing to talk to him in a very low, soothing voice as he comes up the stairs. On those nights, he goes back to sleep, glued to my left hand side. My other boy, who sleeps at my right shoulder, barely opens his eyes before he's snoring again.
Jawning is contagious right? I noticed our cat jawning after my mother as they both lay on seperate couches watching TV at night. First our cat jawnd silent but my mother jawns loudly everytime, so lately our cat imitates her loud jawn with the same voicing. Since our cat noticed this got our attention and my mother always respond with calling his name and "oh you must be so tired" he now uses this to signal us he wants to get petted while he stretches and rolls on his back acting all cute. But he will only jawn loudly when he is on the couch and my mother is around. He will also notice my car by the motor sound from far while he is outside and is at the door to geet me when I visit my mother. I saw him running throug the neigbours gardens while approaching in my car. Then he gets some extra food by me outside the feeding schedule. Before he starts to eat he makes shure to thank me by bumping his head to my arm or leg. He sometimes even had bitten and scratched the newspaper outside the door in the morning on weekends out of frustration because my mother sleept longer than usual and he couldn't get in and get food. He gets thanked when he brings mice as gifts but he knows my mother dosn't like him to catch birds and he got scolded everytime he brought a bird. He dosn't like to eat those smal birds eigther but as we found later he kept a secret bird collection in the barn.
My cat is very cuddly and always makes me smile. It’s cute that he follows me around. But when I go out and come back and I pet another cat, he doesn’t come straight away.
Experts keep saying cats do not meow at each other, but I caught mine on camera when I leave meowing and responding to each other. Not only that, but people put go pros on stray cats and cats meow at each other when they play, hunt, or are looking for each other when there are no humans around for miles. This needs to be re-researched.
Yes, I think the experts are way off on this, which makes me wonder if their videos are just repeating what other self proclaimed experts have said in their videos. I have noticed a similar pattern with movie reviews on websites. They just copy others, and you can tell they probably didn't watch the movie.
Cats do speak with each other using meows. I saw a video where a cat was going around town, and they spoke to each other with meows. They also have a silent meow that they use with each other; at least silent to us. I saw this firsthand when we separated one cat from her littermates.
I have a chronic illness that is controlled by medication. Over the past six years, my medication has changed a lot, and every time it does, one of my cats will stop curling up on my lap and only wants pets on sporadic occasions for 1-2 months until she gets used to my new scent. Remarkably, she has such a good nose, but it is also a bit upsetting to suddenly stop having cuddles. I am always very excited when she wants cuddles again.
Did any of these things surprise you? 👀🐈

Yes, I thought that kittens meowed to their mothers. I didn't think it was a specific cat to human behaviour.
My cats seem to know when I’m sick, but it never stops them from reminding me that it’s dinner time 🍽
Their hunger overrides you being sick I guess.
@@Catlily5 well, it is all about them, after all!
@@nickimontie No I disagree. I think that they care about us as well.
😅😂

🥲🥲🥲😻😻😻🐾🐾🐾❤️❤️
🤗❤❤❤
love this story about the cat hissing, that's so wonderful. Hope you are doing well today.

Beautiful story.
I’m glad you’re doing much better, may The Lord keep blessing you and Chester ❤

My cat was really gentle with me when I returned home after a heart bypass. Once I recovered, he was back to his normal rambunctious self.
Hope you are feeling better. Cats are awesome!
Yes, absolutely, they are much more intelligent than we think ! 💙💙💙
huh
I have definitely seen a mother feral use a special sound, sort of a trilling meow, to tell her kitten, hiding under cars, that it’s safe to come over to visit. She also meows for me, sort of a crying sound, to come out and feed her. And she’s very smart.
I took in a feral kitten 3 years ago. He doesn't purr or meow but talk s to me with the trilling voice. He's incredibly smart
@@pamelapalmer2832It’s a greeting, yes?
Cats picks up on your feelings, my little white leopard becomes demanding for more attention when i'm stressed. His way to say 'calm down!' ❤❤❤
Leopard??!?!?!
Great video. I am owned by two cats and the relationship is deep. I love my cats. They are great at training humans.
Such a blessing from that cat.

They're so special!
How are you doing now?
😄
Purring is great meditation for our souls.
I make up silly songs about my cat and sing them to him, as well. He usually comes and gives me a head-bomp afterwards.
That's cool that you write songs!
So you perform them?
Do you have a TH-cam channel?
I'm so sorry for your loss😢
Lol just like a 3 yr old 😂
I will admit having to put down your precious kitty is one of the hardest things to do 😢 but taking in a kitten is very rewarding.
My Midnight (black cat) always knows when I'm in pre-migraine and migraine stages. He makes sure to stay nearby and even cuddles more.

I was sad and my cat came to me and went like MEOWWWWWW so I think he new I was sad❤

Yes he did Cats sense emotions my cat does this as well😁😁
My cat will pick up the tiniest scent of me whenever I'm not feeling well or not in a good mood. She knows how to make sure I'm ok.
My cat seems to know when I'm emotionally messed up. A few times I cried bad and my cat just stuck with me all night which is unusual, more affection
@traybern Yep! And she also fusses if I come home late from work. 🤭
Same, wakes me up couple of minutes before the alarm ❤ At weekends she does too but quickly gives up and sleeps in with me.
never knew cats knew all these things. thanks for this informational video
😂
Aww, I love this.
We were asked to take a little guy who was abandoned at our small local private airport in the middle of nowhere.
click training is a very easy tool to teach your cat some simple commands. It really works.
Saw a act in Las Vegas that had trained cats in it. The. Had a lovely time showing off their tricks.

Sounds like a happy home.
Good luck😻
How odd to suddenly develop this serious of an allergy to them! Do they go outside? I'm wondering if maybe they're getting into something (like a plant) and that's what you're allergic to instead. Anyway, I've seen these wipes that are used for quick clean-ups for cats. Would help remove either the dander or saliva you're allergic to short term. They're sold pretty much anywhere there's a pet department. Good luck to you!
@@terriwetz6077 allergies can build up slowly but the symptoms will usually show up suddenly as your sensitivity gets past your threshold.

When I cry she stays closer to me, when its treat time she reminds me (very vocally lol & bizarrely even if shes been asleep & missed the time herself haha) she's an indoor cat so her 'gift' to me when i come in is what used to be a spider, always on the floor where i sit, she follows me from room to room, and bless her when i start getting my bags ready to go out she gets a bit twitchy as she knows I'm going out (I hate that she doesnt like me going out but needs must)
Shes not one for constant fussing & its only ever on her terms lol but I know when she wants attention & she gets it.
He is still shy whit his meow sounds 😊
Having a feral cat that decided to trust us is completely different experience

Now winter time he will only go out to toilet, or to try to catch a mouse
We feel very humble that Tysos trusted us, and chose us as his humans :)

My cat rarely meows, which I'd never experienced before (my last boy would "talk" back and forth forever). So if I hear a meow, I'm checking straight away. Otherwise, she'll do her squeaky little meow if food is involved!
Two things about this. 😸
The first is that one of my two cats does meow at and to the other.
Enjoyed video. Yes cats are smart. Love them💕💕💕💖💖😺😺😺😺😺😺😺💘💕💕💖💖💖💖💘😺😺😺😺
My rescue cat lets me know when my glucose is low even before my meter alarm goes off.
Have always had a, or cats, around since as long as I can remember. They all had their own quirks and foibles. However, they all shared a common trait; summed up in one word, MANIPULATOR.
When he said “treat” my cat hating dog lifted her head up
My cats bite my nose to wake me up for breakfast 🍳🥞!
❤🤍❤️♾️🌚🏜️☑️
My cat knows my credit card number and if that little jerk orders _one more thing_ on the Internet…
Wow cats truly are Amazing.😊
I was in a car accident & at the same time my cat went bananas my neughbors said. They heard him howling & scratching at my front door. Cats know way too much & grieve!💜🐾💜
I thought kittens meowed at their cat mothers for attention. Most pet cats are usually taken from their mothers at about 8 weeks old. The human owner (or guardian if you want) , responds to these meows, so the cat carries on doing them if it gets the response from it's human parent !
2:43 Amazing
I have a former feral stray that now yells at me when its late to tell me to go to bed. As soon as I pull the covers on me he jumps on me and kneads me with both his front and back feet. He get so excited he sometimes trips over himself. If I try petting him during this he will meow and back up like I am ruining his experience. He only accepts pets when he finishes kneading and finds his sleep spot. I love my crazy cat.
My cats know exactly when I'm supposed to wake up, and strategically position themselves on top of my phone to muffle the sound of the alarm. They just want to be in bed with me all day :3
My cat knows everything about me even my pin number for my bank card.
With all of the things my cat knows about me, I'm sure glad that they can't talk ! ! !
One of my cats will tap me to get petted and if I don't respond right away she will grab my hand with her paws and pet herself, it's cute to watch
😂😂😂😂😂 I talk to my cat all the time I explain my day to her 😂😂😂
Technically, mama cats and kittens do meow at each other.
EVER
I don't know what it is but just the mere presence of a cat makes me feel happy.
Cats are such excellent judges of people. If a cat approves of a human you can bet that human is a good, decent person
I remember when i was a kid my cat was sleeping at the foot of my bed. You're right about them knowing routine. The alarm went off and i snoozed it, which is something i rarely did. Then that cat got on my chest and slapped my cheeks. Thats me been told.
Our cat knows how to get our attention - Simply shut off my wife's CPAP machine. VERY effective!
I ❤ cats
They're in my head !:-) 😼
Cats also know when they are being talked about by you and your spouse. At least mine does.
Have terrible migraines. When im having one my 2 cats will lay on the bed with me and just chill.
I knew some of this but wow it is amazing how much they know.
2:15 .. jeah I have the feeling too I am my cats human .. not the other way around :D
