- Hey, friends! In today's video I lead you guys through my move-in process to Brown University! I moved in last Friday, the 25th, and I am super excited for the upcoming schoolyear! Freshman orientation started two days ago: Saturday, September 2. I am starting my channel to document my college life and share advice on the college process. If you are a rising senior, or even an ambitious high school student, my upcoming videos will be super helpful!
I am a 17-year-old incoming freshman at Brown University double concentrating in Philosophy, and Cognitive Neuroscience. I am an artsy-fartsy crafter, and an ambitious scholar. Follow me as I navigate the college system as a first-generation student in the Ivy League!

Dorm life was definitely one of the highlights of my freshman year! I couldn't take 10 steps without striking up a conversation with someone! :)

How did you make so many friends so early in the school year? I'm so excited for college in the fall but I'm kind of scared that I won't make friends.
Christina Myers I moved in early because I was accepted to a preorientation program! Honestly, it was such a great experience and everyone who is on campus early gets to know each other sooner than when the rest of the class arrives. I had great luck with my dorm assignment as well! I've developed great friendships with my dorm mates! Don't worry about making new friends yet- everyone is coming in fresh and new. Every person you meet will be very eager to get to know you!

Everyone has different forms of socialization! Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone every once in a while. I hope you find that people are very friendly!

Thank you! And Nguyen is a very common Vietnamese last name! :) I think I read somewhere that approximately 40% of Vietnamese people carry that last name.

Congrats and welcome to College Hill!! And you can raise your bed to the highest level. Just look up videos online about raising a dorm bed frame! It requires another person to help so I had my step dad help me

My dream school is 15 hours away, and (not saying i will but id really enjoy it if i did) if i got accepted idk how i would travel there because i dont think my parents would enjoy going 15 hours and back 😂
You WILL get accepted! Everything will work out in the end- one way or another! :) haha and at that point I think it’s best to just fly rather than drive 😂

Fae, my college is a 15 hr drive as well. I suggest really making it more of a fun sight seeing road trip. If you can, leave a day earlier and stop by fun places along the way or arrive a day earlier and explore the town a bit to get to know it! Think of it as a last family trip before you’re out on your own 😊

Hey can I just ask how you already knew a lot of people if it was your first/second day? Thanks
By nature, I’m a very social person! Haha I like to talk and make friends from the get-go, but that’s just my personality. Everyone is a bit different. However, from what I’ve found, People at Brown are super nice and it just takes a simple hello to start conversations. Every first year student is looking to make friends and get to know other people so the beginning of the year is very social and amicable. I arrived on campus a week earlier than regular move-in for freshmen because I was a part of a preorientation program, so that helped me get acquainted with campus earlier.

Joy Natanael all essays are personal and very different, varying from person to person. I wrote mine how I felt best conveyed my personality and aspirations.

what your SAT AND TOEFL ??
Joy Natanael I scored in the 98th percentile for SAT, 99th percentile for ACT, and I've always been in school in the United States so I was not required to submit the TOEFL. English was my second language but I scored well above the threshold for English support when I was tested in kindergarten, so I never received ESL instruction. That being said, I have native/bilingual proficiency in English. I was born in the US and have never lived outside of the US, so I am not an international student.
how many subject you took for SAT ??
Joy Natanael I did not submit any of my SAT subject test scores. I took 3 but decided to not submit any of them because I scored really high on the ACT.
