Our governments philosophy for the last 50 years has been - "don't do anything today, when you can make it someone else's problem tomorrow" 👍 The UK's infrastructure is case and point. Where has the money gone?
@@dogbreaththe3rd851 What an absurd answer. The UK spends comparatively little on helping the poor. As is obvious if you are paying attention, UK governments since 1979, neoliberal all, have been ensuring ever-larger amounts of wealth go to the corporations and to shareholders.
Modern buildings have always been ad-hoc Victorian buildings pulled down (stone) replaced with crap, go visit a showhome be careful not to put your hand through the wall.
Seriously? The cost of helping poor migrating people is tiny. The cost of repairing our infrastructure is far larger. Schools in the UK have a maintenance and repair backlog of £11.4 billion-more than a third of buildings in the school estate are past their initial design life. The figure for the National Health Service is £10 billion, and for the courts, £1 billion. Outstanding repairs on roads total £14 billion, and another £6 billion on bridges.
