I've had 2 banshees, a 97 and 95. My buddy had a 98 and it had stock pipes and I loved taking that thing out at night!! So quiet and a blast on backroads

Beautiful Banshee. I remember being a teenager back in the 80's reading the 1987 Dirt Wheels magazine, which tested the new 1987 red and white Yamaha Banshee, it had a top speed of 74 mph. The magazine said that was the same speed as the 1987 Kawasaki Tecate 4, and only two mph slower than the 1987 Suzuki Quadracer 500 which tested a 76 mph top speed.
We were in early 20s when my buddy got one of those. It was absolutely frightening!

It was a massive difference between two different sets of pipes lol.. I've noticed that a lot of Banshees on TH-cam make it up to about 72 or 73 so I was actually quite happy. But I am at sea level so it gives it a little extra power lol.
Do a video shifting gears so we can see have to shift correctly on a banshee but she’s dope for a stock🔥

After takeoff I never touched the clutch again drag racing don't use the clutch except for take off when I'm drag racing don't have to use it.

Bought one new back in 2003. Put on fmf gnarly pipes and silencers and rejetted the carbs and it was pretty much perfect. Would pull the front tires a few inches just gassing it in 4th gear without trying to wheelie. No idea on top speed but always thought it had to be 80+. It sounded like it hit the rev limiter topped out on really cold days but not sure what rpm the limiter was or how fast it would be going when it hit it. Gone but not forgotten.

Had many banshee’s, toomy pipes are the best and jet it. There’s nothing like the power band on a sheee. Never let off the gas just bang then gears. I raced many cars and made them look stupid with the sheeee!

I remember the dealerships lying to me back in the day when I was a young boy in saying that the Banshee was 91 mph from factory lol...
I wish Yamaha would bring back the banshee I would buy one I'm 42 I had a 2001 for 15 years I used to jump it 65 ft I never had any issues with it other than swingarm bearings and rear bearings I ran it 28 to 1 never had to rebuild it always started first second kick I beat a 660 raptor it would pull it in fourth gear it was stock never did anything to it

I have the stock tires on the banshee still so the rear tire should be 10x09-20. I'll check later on for you though.

My bike is a 300cc 6 gear and it hits 83mph stock
And the gears are really short because its a enduro machine
So it has a sprocket for lower end
Imagine it having a normal sprocket like a track bike

seems like all sportquads top out in the 73-75mph range, my ltz hits limiter at exactly 73mph, TRXs also do like 75mph max

To be honest a raptor 700 only hitting about 73 is sad because my grandparents have a 700 cc Honda four wheeler and I hit 65 on it and it’s a utility four wheeler

Those stock pipes are probably full of oil residue they cake up fmf letting that bike breathe!
I bought these stock pipes new off the shelf where they had been sitting in a warehouse for 20 years. They only have about 5 to 10 hours on them so they should be pretty clean.

That is a question I have had for a long time! The only thing I can think of is that they achieved more low end torque by making it more restrictive.

I used to eat banshees alive on my bone stock 660 raptor had a Barnett clutch in it stock 20 inch tires and it would run 77 2 78 mi an hour and I weigh 250 lbs and that's with a stock Hayabusa clock in right beside me so it's all in the rider to but I promised you I would eat most alive on the dirt pavement to
Ave had 4 Yamaha DT125Rs an the expansion pipes were bigger than YZ 125s they bended around like a 200 or 250 an I made one faster than any YZ RM OR KX around
mines a bit fast. i got mine built tho. 4 mill fmf slip ons, pro circuit exhaust v force reeds 370 big bore kit porbably does 110-115 my guess

I've tossed around the idea only for the sake of my viewers. It's always been my dream to have a banshee a mint one at that and I could keep it forever but I also know that I would like to continue bringing new machines onto the channel to give you guys tons of entertainment and knowing that the banshee is an asset that could bring two or three nice machines to the channel based on its large price tag is something I've battled with.

I swear I half 2 b the only person who didn't put FMF's on a Banshee lol. I put Procircuit Platinum pipes with the round 304 silencers on my 01 & I hava set of custom Dynoports on my 02 10mil 521 stroker monster. Havnt dno'd the monster yet, but my friend haza 410cheeta built 03 108hp & the monster de-fucking-stroys it!!.
Topped out 6th gear like that and chopping the throttle can be fatal for 2 stroke

Good question! I definitely enjoyed the power of the Banshee more with FMF pipes on but I specifically bought a mint condition Banshee as I was shooting for the all OEM look and the only thing that had been modified on it was the pipes so I bought some OEM pipes that had been on a shelf for 20 years and put them on to complete the all OEM look.
I don't understand why 4 wheelers got the stupid thumb throttle and not a twist.......but anyways I got 300 dollars can I buy this shit?
