This is all great stuff, and trainer melissa you have no idea...alot more you can do with the indo board...pushups one leg up pushups, squats, anything with dumbells i, use my indo for burpees, also can overhead squat 135# with a bar... really like the lower back and delt laird is doing with the freemotion and the ball have to try it...

They looked pretty good to me trainer Melissa. I think the precise point is not to sit on a machine and isolate a single muscle. It's to try to incorporate more than one muscle group - especially the core - into one exercise. This seems like a good technique to make your workout more intensive.
I now see an extra use for my kettlebells when I get my indo board. Well, that is if the Party permits such exercises. What say you Dragondoor comrades?

Some weight training is good, But I know what you mean. Too much bulk and your sluggish in the water.You need a very lean swimmers build . How many pro surfers are yoked? There lean and fit.
Body builders can't swim because they aren't swimmers. Nothing to do with their muscle mass or lack of fat. Your comment makes no sense. Also, isometric is a word still. Laird definitely knows what's up.
I lifted weights years ago, had my own gym in my garage..my "two cents" is, surfers don't really need to lift weights all that much..the flexibility is good and isometric (don't even know if that word is used anymore) is good but muscle mass is counter productive to swimming in the water. I had friends with 2% body fat, body builders an would sink like a rock when swimming. Endurance, flexibility and some strength is good, then again, maybe Laird knows something I don't. :))
