    All of the options menus are different now; it's like Windows watched your video and changed everything to intentially make it more difficult or impossible to change these settings

    A really important one in my opinion is the power management settings in the Windows 10 Control Panel. Just set them to high performance if you're a gamer, it can make a huge difference on how much power your GPU is allowed to be distributed and increase your framerate in demanding games.

    For the night light one, I find that F.lux is better. It's automatic like the nightlight, and it does it gradually, catering to the person depending on what time they get up. Letting the screen dim when the sun sets. I find it much better to use than the windows night light.

    I've been using computers since they first appeared on desktops in offices. A long time. But the changes of the last 10 years or so have me on my ninth nerve. A LOT of it seems unnecessarily complicated, using far too many steps to accomplish simple tasks. When I have tried to get help understanding these things, I've just gotten more confused by techies who use an arcane language I do not get - but when I played this video and made the changes I wanted to make from it, the instructions were so direct and the language so accessible, that I had NO PROBLEM. Consequently, I am subscrdibed to this chanel and will stay tuned. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

    I also recommend adjusting Windows Update settings to be less intrusive, UAC settings to be less annoying, and enabling the Ubuntu bash shell so you can run Linux scripts and apps.

    • @Rudxain
      @Rudxain 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rationalraven8956 But that's not the same thing as having native Bash. Although it's still useful, but slightly limited in the things it can do (No WSL system can install stuff outside the VM, AFAIK)

    • @rationalraven8956
      @rationalraven8956 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Rudxain what's your point?

    • @Rudxain
      @Rudxain 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rationalraven8956 what I mean is that WSL is good enough, but it cannot replace bash being directly executed by the system (without "emulation"). Because WSL is kinda like a VM, and has some sandboxing rules for security reasons, even when the account is admin.
      Accessing hardware directly (like USB devices, or external HDDs) is harder and limited. And as I said, it cannot install software outside of the VM (unless it's done indirectly via API)

    Thanks. When I moved back home, after an accident left me disabled, word got around that I was a "computer guy" Well the town is only around 1400 souls and at the time the nearest computer repair service was well over 100 miles away. So after a quiet week or so as we unpacked our belongings, the phone began ringing, I was suddenly the most popular guy in town. Well things have changed over the past 20 years, and computer guys have come and gone, hell I even taught some young folks to take over for me. Still, even though I have pretty much told everyone that I no longer work on any machines, I get the calls, and it's hard to turn folks down, so off I go, limping along with my cane in one hand, and a flash drive in another. This type video helps a lot, when questions come up, I have a list of videos that I forward to them. Saves me a trip and gives you a few clicks.

    Of course, Microsoft has changed or removed a lot of these "settings" that perhaps you should do a more up-to-date video. It would certainly help a lot of us who are only recently moving to Windows 10 after the non-support of Windows 7. Nevertheless, the information in this vidwo is certainly helpful Thank you.

      Try Malwarebytes. I have been using it for years when fixing PC's. Theres a free trial, but you can use it still after trial is over. You can also change settings so it doesnt disturb you. ADW cleaner is also great to use. I highly recommend to stay away from AVG and Avast. They are both annoying, and AVG used to be good, but now like avast its really doesnt keep find any viruses if any and seem to use up resources.

    Now I see why Microsoft were pushing Windows 10 so aggressively, offering it as a free upgrade to Windows 7. They were keen for maximum users to switch to the new OS, in order to track us 10 times harder. I expect they will announce the discontinuing of the support for Windows 7, any time soon, to speed up the process.

      Wizardofdoom internal memory... Put it on an external. Also once you upload the video you can delete the files cause you can use TH-cam to MP4 to get it back on the pc

    • @Wizardofdoom2
      @Wizardofdoom2 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheFlyingRat Internal memory is much easier to keep track of than external. On some occasions it may also be cheaper. Him keeping it on them, it is very unlikely from how seriously he takes his security, but it is still possible for someone to hack his account and delete all his videos. It's also much more convenient in case he messed something up and needs to do a re-upload.
