I notice how much symbolism is in the music specifically comparing himiko here and nightglow
"For a chance at least to live in your way" basically together with the cutscenes prior to this really proves that himiko wanted to see kaira and others grow and in a way she did from beyond the grave

Literally just means inheritor of the flame
Story about not getting vengeance for the fallen but instead carrying their legacy to keep their names clean cause vengeance isn't going to make the fallen happier, however, when the fallen knows that the child they prepared for battle is willing to sacrifice everything for their legacy and the sake of their family makes them happier for them because they know they thought them that they need to protect all that is beautiful in the world, Himeko died but Kiana didn't wanted vengeance because she knows Himeko would not want her hands to be filled with blood so instead Kiana just carried on their legacy to protect all that is beautiful in the world and that is why Kiana didn't accepted the fact that the Dark Sirin disappeared leaving her for good, so instead Kiana promised Sirin that she'll carry on the burden of Sirin as well as her Sirin's sins

And I loved the symbolism, because in the final burst of power that engulfs HoD... She expresses her utmost grief and hate at having to say goodbye.

Not just the "hope you're fine with it". If you listen to the words, its the exact same thing as Himeko in final lessono. They translated it as "are you done?" here. But its that same "anata no kougeki wa owari. Sore nara watashi no han ne" and then I had difficulty transcribing the last line, but that's the "hope you don't mind" part.
As close to a literally translation is "you're (anata no) attack (kougeki) is over (wa owari desu). In that case (sore nara), my version (watashi no han)" and the "ne" kind implies as suggestion, kinda like "how about my turn" or "how about my version". Personally I like the translation from final lesson a bit better, at least for the first part.

From white comet, valkyrie ranger, HoV, void drifter until now HoF. Kiana's character growth is one of the most amazing and natural character growth there is. Our girl have grown so much captains. And i'm proud of her.

I like the little detail of Himeko disappearing from Kiana's eyes. It took her a bit, but she finally let go of her to move forward by herself and finish the battle. Well played, Mihoyo. Well played.
i mean she already did during the frozen time scene, want to stay so Himeko will always exist there but then finally move forward.
For me, that scene with the flame Himeko is more like show Kiana "i always there watching over you" like she promised her.
I see it more as her becoming part of Kiana's power, the "warmth of the Sun."
Honestly I see it as her moving forward as well as her forgiving herself for what happened to himeko

And for some reason in that particular scene my head refuses to hear the 'brightness of the sun' instead I keep hearing the brightness of the soul...
I LOVE how herrscher of flamescions gameplay absolutely suits her story and the name "everlasting flames". She burns herself just like how she sacrifices her entire life to stop the honkai but in the end she never dies because off the barier (friends) around her. and when she loses all the bariers she gains health to make a one last stand. She is a flame that lasts forever.

Yeah, seems like she didn't just learn martial arts from Fu Hua, she learned how to be utterly unkillable as well, and I love every second of it.
She literally fights with the power of friendship. It's cheesy as hell but I don't care. It's always tearjerking to watch.

There are few things better than that troupe when it's well executed and man, honkai really executed it perfectly
Speaking of Kiana... Why is it that most animation movie before Kiana uses any Herrscher's power, Kiana would stay in her White Comet battlesuit with jacket. Yet in the gameplay that has been shown. Kiana would actually be in her Void Drifter form.
Why didn't they just use VD form even in animations movie?
Especially in this movie scenes where Kiana gains Himeko's sword and used VD red variation forms in the game. In the game before this movie, Kiana has been fighting the Herrscher of Dominations using the Red VD form. Then... Why the animations movie put her with White Comet form?

Rewatching this after Final lesson I realized that the battle is the same as Himeko, from the catchphrase, to kiana cutting the vines (like himeko when cutting the light strings of HoV) until the last hit with the barrier from HoD (Himeko did the same with the black barrier on the last clash against HoV).
Even they put their last strenght with the help of their memories of their friends (I think Kiana is remembering that last strike from the battle of Himeko and that's the reason of the smile and last appearance of Himeko).
All this fight is like a tribute to Himeko. God bless Himeko, the greatest teacher of all.
Me too and after i watched both cg's i started playing honkai and after i completed chapter 25 yesterday all i can say that they hit me harder then first time i saw them.

The whole animation is a great 'tribute' to Final Lession.
It's interesting to note that after "Final Lesson", every time Kiana catches a glimpse of Himeko(amazing grace, meteoric salvation, the chapter 25 and etc), the teacher is far away, she sees Himeko's back, as 'an ideal of Valkyria to be achieved', but that she can't reach, still needs more.
But after she smashes through the HoD's shields at 5:38, she senses Himeko's presence... and had to LOOK BACK in time to see Himeko's smiling figure disappearing.
This time Himeko was the one who saw her student surpassing her, both in power and control of the core of the flames, but also as an altruistic valkyrie, just as Ragna had once taught her, and Himeko passed on to her 'fairies'. This time it was Himeko's eyes that filled with pride seeing Kiana fulfilling her promise.

Literally word for word. Don't trust the subs, she actually asked something along the lines of, "are you done attacking?" The subs are just copied and pasted from the original CN video, but they are close enough to correct to get the story across.

Here's an extra fun fact, if you play both videos together, final lesson and this, they'll say it around the exact same timing too.
I actually think the subs are quite in line with the voiceline, since she also said "Monku aru?" which roughly is similar to "Any problems?"
Fun fact: the hotter the fire is the colder it looks.
Blue flames means she - obviously - exceeded Himeko's ability to use the core.

The moment Himeko fades away and passes her hopes onto Kiana always hits me the hardest. My tears become a flood each and every time. I love this song so damn much and it slaps for the animation.

Speaking of that scene and the song, as that scene takes place, the lyrics "Turn into a moon that always tells the warmth and brightness of the sun" is a perfect description for it. Kiana being associated with the moon, that reflects the sun's (Himeko) light (Flames)
It is not Himeko passing her hopes. It is Kiana finally accepting that Himeko is and will always be gone. That moment is still painful to her, as you've seen with the gaze she gave.
But she turned that into determination. For a brighter future, and a world where people fight for all that is beautiful in the world.
@@bosssnake1000 I'd argue it's both actually. Kiana had long since begun to accept Himeko's passing back in Arc City, but with the events leading up to everlasting flames, those doubts started to re-emerge. And you're right, this is when she fully accepts it.
That being said, in the scene where Kiana meets Himeko prior to this battle, she does indeed pass on her hopes to Kiana (This was also the central point of Final Lesson and Meteoric Salvation) Himeko did what she did for Kiana because she believed Kiana had the potential to grant the wish they both wanted. That short moment where she appeared before Kiana's final push was symbolic of that. The line in the song even goes "Turn into a moon that always tells the warmth and brightness of the sun" which could be seen as a metaphor for Himeko (the sun) passing the torch to Kiana (the moon) to fulfill their goal

i love the subtle change kiana got in each core she is given.
Sirin/HoV core makes her hair long straight from braided, like indicating she's now free,
with Bronya she's got the hairpiece for her hair and earrings,
with FuHua she''s given a pair of gloves and upgraded the blade,
and finally with Himeko she's got the wing and the fiery cloak
Also, I just realized, the sword that Kiana use is just the lower part of Himeko's shattered sword, we can see it's glow the moment kiana reach it, later on we see it's slowly reconstruct with every core she received
It's a nice touch and subtle touch. And also kind of begs the question as to whether or not the Herrschers were meant to be a separate being to begin with. Cause it seems as if one person bearing multiple Herrscher powers can produce exceptionally higher results, if not a completely new type of Herrscher, as shown here. Kiana with four cores becomes the Herrscher of Flamescion. Would giving one person every Herrscher Core result in the most powerful Herrscher imaginable, or would it result in that person simply possessing too much power and self destructing?
@@brandonhawker6597 i would say the core is like multiplicative, so yes having a multiple cores gives more power. But i think there's also a limit per individual before they selfdestruct. (Like old HoV - sirin had 6 cores, and kiana/k-243 already dying carrying 3 cores)
Also i don't think HoF is absorbing all the cores she's given (except sirin core that's essentially herself, and maybe gem of haste - himeko, + fenghuang down)
I guess it's like power ranger/kamen rider thing when they borrow their friends power 😂
@@InFinicious True, but I believe it's been stated that K423 was only dying because she hadn't suppressed Sirin yet, and was actively denying her status as a Herrscher. I believe it's stated that once she fully accepts it, she's fine. At least that's what some are saying. If this is to be believed, then she should be fine now at least, to possess more cores than she was originally able to.

Himeko made Kiana who she is today, and she still lives in her, just like the sunlight is always on the earth, even if just reflected by the moon. Kiana literally reflects the light that Himeko had.
It gets even more beautiful with the fact that the fight scene here is the reflection of Final Lesson.

*Kiana has a big impact for everyone's life (me inclued)*
Kiana's development in the story is among the greatest of all games I've played. I remember actually crying during starfall because I could feel how heavy it was for her-Himeko had sacrificed herself for her...Kiana felt an unbearable amount of guilt and loneliness that it completely changed her character. Not to mention how she was constantly fighting off HoV for control-the fear and anxiety she had that she would lose control and basically destroy everyone and everything she cared deeply about. But she overcame it all-what a redemption arc it was.
I cannot imagine miHoYo topping this, both in terms of impact and emotion. This animated short is truly the perfect synergy of music, storytelling and emotion.

Im feeling like it is more an opposing ideal to Kiana's will to defend all that is beautiful.
HoD's power comes from the negativity of thousand, even millions of depressed and abused people. Its ideal isn't wrong, because it is an aggregation of everything negative. But Kiana is still fighting, to defend a world worth saving.
And at the end of it all, she made it.

It might sound silly but there's some days where I feel very down and am very tempted to give up. Ever since I played honkai I always get reminded of Kiana and how she overcame her obstacles one after another and continued to persevere. Sure she herself was at a low at some point but she got through it and that gives me motivation to carry on.
Whenever I remember this, Its like a light in a dark tunnel. It motivates me and shows me the way. I'm 23 and there were several low points in my life, some worse than others, and I even lost myself for 4 years but now I finally stand up for what I want instead of what others expect of me, and have been doing so for months. I always fear that I'll lose myself again and become the me that I was back then, always dwelling in negative emotions and turning to alcohol. Whatever happens in the future, I can only hope that I will remember Kiana and her journey, as well as the people who have helped me throughout my life, to give me strength and the fire to continue persisting for my family and the life I desire

So those three lines were literally sung by Mei, Bronya and Kiana respectively as well.

She’s great. But that’s a bit of an exaggeration. Overall Kania as a character is definitely above average, but there are far more characters in series that are much more fleshed out.
If you’re looking for amazing character writing, someone like araragi from monogatari, or Subaru from Re zero can fill your criteria ten fold over.
Kamijou touma and subaru want to know your location.... Honestly i like otto more than kiana. Kiana is generic shonen mc with the power of family or friends to achieve success. While otto is a character that are may look more generic he isn't. Anyway kamijou touma (LN version) is one of mc i admired the most. He doesn't need power or any friendship power even tortured by a god and died bilion times just to crush his mentality. Well if subaru and touma switch places i think both can withstand those torture they both goes through. (Doesn't include the anime version of touma). He does have the power to become a godlike being but he simply doesn't want to.
Gurren Lagann has a great one, and i tell you this...Kiana's arc is in some ways, strikingly similar to Simon's, other than their different beginnings (Kiana's bubbly at first, while Simon starts off shy and traumatized)
This scene had me smiling and crying at the same time, it's incredible the development that kiana had until now, along with Fu hua, Bronya, Seele, Teresa, Einstein, Tesla and with our wonderful Himeko. Thank you hoyoverse for creating such a character and creating the best story of all your games. PEAK GAME 😭😭😭

kiana is such a beautifully written character and is by far one of my favorite, if not my top favorite, characters that has come from mihoyo’s games. we’ve seen her grow and suffer and laugh and cry, we’ve felt her loneliness and her strong ties with her friends in action, and how even when she gave up on herself and felt like taking her life was her only option, she had the people who she loved bring light into her life the same way she did theirs. and all of her struggles, her best moments, her worst, her happiest, all of them amount in this moment to show the growth she’s went through to be able to love herself and accept herself and to find the strength from within to keep on living, and not just to keep on living, but to live with purpose and to live with love and to protect the beauty of the world and the people she loves because she’s seen the ugly and she’s felt the pain of this world and yet she was able to take control of that pain and turn it into something beautiful and something to share with those she loves because she uses the power and the things she’s learned from the people she cares deeply about and turns their power into her own. her friends, her lovers, her mentors, they’re all people she finds beauty and strength in and whose strengths she utilizes as her own because those people used their strength to protect her and never have they left her when she was in pain. ive never seen a character utilize the power of friendship in such a way that was believable and beautiful and in a way that lets you know just how much these experiences have shaped her philosophy and her reason to live and to see the light in living. and i can’t stress enough how important it is that these experiences and that these friendships are important to HER and that even though other people are the source of her power, it was ultimately kiana herself who had to learn to love and accept herself because self love and acceptance does not come from anyone else but yourself. i have so much to say about her and about this video in specific and how much of an important mark it is in her character development but that would require a 2 hour ted talk to go through. in conclusion, i really love this girl, and as someone who has always struggled with self acceptance and who has always loved the friends who have loved me and shown me light through their own light, kianas struggles feel just as important and real as my own.

Genshin impact is great and all, but Honkai has been with me since the beginning and the emotional baggage it brings is amazing 💛 I’m always so invested in the story
I understand the attachment but for real Genshin is still a newborn compared to Honkai, we are still in the build up phase and might be in until we reached every or most of the region, then real shit will go down and we won't be prepared.
I've played honkai 4-5 years ago and it wasn't a great experience. its only after I've reconnected through Genshin and Honkai's wonderful trailers that I am enjoying the ride now.
I neverp layed Honkai, only Genshin, and it makes me a bit sad that it looks so much more epic and amazing. The cutscenes are great and I wish I could play it for the story, it reminds me a lot of Evangelion ... but another gacha, nah ... :/ It looks amazing though and I wish Genshin's story wouldn't be as lame as it is

There's also "senchou" that ALSO means "captain" of a ship, but not an armed one. In Honkai they use "Kanchou" because we're in front of a "armed" (both the vessel and the valkiries) ship.

Even now this still makes me cry. Damn you, Honkai. One of the most beautiful stories I've ever experienced.
I've replayed the CN dub too many times that it's more natural sounding to me (as many pointed out, especially the puppet's voice) even though I don't know an ounce of Chinese. But JP has many good parts as well:
- Kiana's shouts (that Fire! and the shout at the end gave me the chills)
- Bronya's struggling voice (on par with Hanser's. Each gives a different, but fitting image)
- I prefer CN Fu Hua's calmer voice in this scene, but this version shows Hua's new resolution and the determination to live even more clearly.
The talents behind this game, no matter the country, are so good it's surreal.
Tbh, i think JP Kiana is too cute, way too much cuteness in it. It doesnt match her growing. Her voice should change after become void drifter but she didnt. She changed voice in this animation but it's too late. She shouldnt use high pitch in this animation instead she should use a calm, resolutely and determinated voice here.

The large gap between white comet and void drifter's cn voicelines was indeed great and showed clearly the line before and after Final Lesson. Character growth and the feels strike in waves. I enjoy cn dub a lot whenever a new animated short comes out.

However, I think kiana's voice in jp was also impressive, in a different way. The jp VA did not lower her pitch for this animation (or any of them, in fact). Kiana's voice remains high-pitched when crying and even whispering, which is extremely hard to do so consistently. A trauma can completely change someone's personality, but not necessarily their voice as well. A high-pitched Kiana saying depressing things/showing her resolution was quite the punch to the gut. Her voice being high is a reminder that all these maddening events happened in 2 years.

In short, I don't think any of them is really better than the other. There is no absolutely correct way to potray character growth. Both dubs are good, but each nailed it in a different way.

Most CN dubs are way too soft for them to feel natural especially Kiana she's barely audible. JP dub mostly have superior pitch then CN and More depth to their Voice that's why i don't prefer CN anymore despite originally staring with CN voices.
No matter CN or JP voices, the fact that they recreate some scenes from final lesson, it's make me cried and proud of Tuna. Good job Mihoyo.

The way Bronya and Kiana said "Fire", man Rie Kugimiya and Kana Asumi didn't hold back
Their " Faya " felt a lot more satisfying for some reason.

I go back and rewatch this short
I end up in tears.
Whether it be Kiana grasping onto Himeko's sword once more and getting back up, Bronya being by her side and lending Kiana her powers, Hua and Kiana soaring together like a comet, Kiana's herrscher re-awakening, and of course... Himeko's final look at her, with a smile full of pride and satisfaction, knowing that her job in this world is finally done and can be transferred to her disciple.... I always end up bawling ir all out.
Despite how terrible this world is during these trying times, this short always manages to give me hope.
