One thing to me that added a lot of context to Coco's Boss Battle with N. Gin was in the flashback tapes. It was revealed that N. Gin mentored Coco in Computers in technology. So basically, this is like a Student vs Teacher fight where Coco built her own spaceship to take on N. Gin's 2 mechs. Like damn did he put out all the stops. Yeah, it's safe to say Coco definitely surpassed him.
One of the tings I loved with N.Gin in Crash 3 is also that the weapons you destroy affects the fight. If you destroy a Rocked Launcher then he cant use that anymore, so the player can if they find a weapon hard to deal with focus it and set it out of the fight.
I feel like Crash 3 N. Gin, casually is so hard, that once you get the power-up and just shoot everything out of existence makes it all the more rewarding. That boss fight is just genius.
crash 2 was my childhood game, and i always remember tiny being the hardest boss for child me to beat. still remember the first time i beat him my heart was beating out of my chest and i ran downstairs to tell my dad i finally did it. tiny tiger will always be my personal favorite boss (along with ripper roo and dingodile) and i really hope he comes back in future games!

It also could be the devs at that point were running out of memory or approaching the deadline. You can even see Cortex holding his gun but never fires it.
When I was a kid, the first time I played this fight, I found it difficult because of the time (or area) limit because I was terrible at dodging the obstacles and sometimes missed my spin attack. So I think if you keep basic story progression in mind, it's not that bad for lower-skilled players. However, after replying the game many other times, I realised I never had much difficulty with it at all. I think as a Crash FAN, it's easy, but as a newcomer, it can be a reasonable boss battle.
I noticed that in the trilogy Ripper roo and Tiny tiger have a lot of similarities. Their 1st fight is fought on a 3X3 arena, they can't be hurt directly. You have to rely on the environment. Their 2nd fight they're downgraded to the first boss, fought in an open square arena and can now be harmed directly.
I found myself playing the N.Gin fight in Crash 3 many times over, the fight is just so good, 100% deserves the #1 spot. Great rankings, amazing video, keep it up Riko!
My favourite is always facing tiny tiger in the colosseum in Rome & experiencing what it was like to fight to the death in the colosseum & taken down the gladiator & becoming the Emperor
N.Gin is honestly Legendary and always sets the stage for enjoyable, replayable boss fights in the Crash series. Well, not counting twinsanity. I mean, my dude is a glorified puzzle in that game, they don't even give him a health bar. His Crash 3 boss fight is great on so many levels, one of the most interesting settings for a time and history based game in the moon, alternative gameplay that is practically not seen elsewhere in the game in the Starfox style, yet still is able to be fun despite the sudden curveball, but also poses a solid challenge to newer players. The remixed N.Gin theme is brilliant, the extra stage gives the boss fight an additional level of weight and omph that boss fight had no business having, but it was great anyway. The additional taster bits of it being a clash of minds of the two tech giants of good and evil, Coco's only boss fight in the game and one that certainly raises the feeling of her importance in the game. Pura getting truly highlighted as Coco's loyal pet and counter part to the lovable Polar by having that moment where she powers you up. Another feature that didn't need to be there, but was awesome to see. My lone criticism of N.Gin's boss fight in Crash 3 is the story implications and the pacing of it. Which was always a defined weak-point of early Crash games anyway, so it's not massive at all. But yeah, you've just beaten N.Tropy and Uka Uka slanders you for how awful of a decision that was. By putting the master of the Time-Twister out of commision, you risk it blowing up with catastrophic consequences that threaten everyone, like how the end of the game goes. This is a great set-up of tension to build up for a final climatic fight with all the pressure of the unstable Time-Twister putting everyone indiscriminately at risk while they scramble for those last few Crystals. ...But it's so easy to forget that when shortly after you're duking it out and trash talking with N.Gin in his warp room and the tension in the air disipates and you kinda forget that this extremely sensitive time machine could implode into a black hole at any moment.
So glad you finally make a scripted video, in the style of Schaffrilas of course. This is really cool and I love the subject! 😊 I hope to see more of these.
That was a super entertaining video Riko! Great job! I think my favorite boss in the series is probably Twin's Dingo, I remember loving that one as a kid and seeing now again on the video is like, damn they really killed it with the presentation on that one.

I always thought that the Warped Cortex fight took place in the Time Twister as well, another reason why I feel it's so climactic is the use of the ruin architecture from all over the islands, the only level/boss in the game that uses it. Also idk if anyone else commented but Big TNT's came back in Mind Over Mutant.

Drain damage was such a hard battle for me as a kid. His bubble collums killed me because the platform would sink and I didn't know how to do tactics like slide jumping

Audio balance is definitely something I’m gonna work on improving. The scale of this video was much bigger than I initially anticipated, and it made going back and cleaning everything up a bit daunting. But I have an ideal balance to work with from the get-go now
Also fun fact about the crash 3 N. Tropy fight; if you fly over to him with a long spin and double jump, he just hits you out of existence with his fork
Very big fan of the YTP sound bits between numbers, excellent, funny detail. Great list as a whole! Nice job! I really do think they were planning on including more minibosses at the end of the final level in some of the hubs, considering that Ripper Roo has concept art of him in a TNT Pogo, and the Run it Bayou variation where it's literally a remix of his theme from Crash 1 NST. The coolest thing about the final Cortex fight in Warped is that i think the Time Twister's core is set in the area where Uka Uka was freed at the start of the game, that weird idol head on Cortex Island, i think it's Jaws of Darkness? I feel that's the intention, since the boss arena reuses textures that look similar to the ruin levels in Crash 1. Might be intentional or not, but it's still funny to think that Uka Uka gets imprisoned again in the same place as he was before.
If you just hold both jump and grapple and don’t press any directions, she’ll latch onto them every time. Completely understandable though; the grapple can be extremely wonky for sure.
Want to know the worse part for me tho. Not only did I not know that but I wasn't able to save on my PS2 so I had to beat the game in a single day each time or start from the start each Time I turn the game on. That said loved that game still
Oh yeah, ever since I laid eyes on N. Gin's CB2 fight, I knew he was my kind of guy. He definitely had my fave fights because of his mech designs; Top notch dude. I also like how he took on the music theme in various games (one was Crash of the Titans, and while you're not really fighting HIM personally, he's still playing the organ), and again in About Time (of which I pretty much quit right away because dang, those controls are too much for my simple droid mind, lol). N. Trance actually gave me a ton of problems, same with some of the Crunch fights (Crunch Time especially). It took me forever to realize how you were supposed to do Drain Damage (poor vision, especially with dark locations, and most likely a horrible TV screen are a bad combo, lemme tell you). I pretty much rage quit Twinsanity, lol. I'm stuck at the walrus who chases you and I can't get outta there even though I'm not getting side tracked by crates. :/ Before then, I was stuck at the factory where missiles shot from the floor. But I've also seen boss fight and cutscene vids from it so I don't mind not playing that much. xD The backtracking ability also makes it hard for me to relocate so yeah. It wasn't a bad game, it's just not what I'm used to, I guess.
Now that i think about it Crash 3 N.Gin Boss fight it's made even better now that in Crash 4 flash back tapes it was revealed that he taught her mechanical engineering skills and more and now they are both battling for the main Hero and Antagonist making it just incredible tbh
My issue with most bosses is how there's always a place to stay and hide where neither the projectiles, tnt or whatever simply can't hit you. It should force you to dodge, not hide and wait.
I admittedly didn’t consider how finicky Nina’s grapple is if you don’t know precisely how to avoid its problems (which the game never tells you how to do so), and with that in mind I maybe would put them a bit lower if I redid the list. But I do still stand by the non-gameplay related reasons that I stated for really liking the fight.
Uka Uka in Twinsanity could’ve been so much better if it just wasn’t so easy. His boss music was so good, but you just kill him so quick that you hardly hear any of it
Ngin technically has two bosses in twinsanity one in the Cortex fight as he is controlling the Mecca bandicoot and his fight in the crow's nest (which by the way that is the ring in the sky)
Entertaining video, kind of surprising to see Crash 3 N Tropy so low, but I definitely see how he's underwhelming considering how dangerous he's played up to be. The bosses were my favorite part of Crash 4. Too bad I don't really like the rest of the game that much.
I will hope and pray for a Crash game with N.Gin as the main antagonist. He's always been so unhinged, I could see him going against Cortex and forcing him to team up with Crash like Twinsanity. Just picture it. Crash, Coco and Cortex against N.Gin, N.Tropy and N.Transed. A giant space battle full of mind control, time manipulation and giant mechs. Maybe I'm dreaming too big, but damn.
Great list and I agree with N Gin having the best fights overall. I do disagree with Fake Crash. His fight is unique but if you can beat him in under 10 seconds I don’t think it should be at number 2. I would probably put him in the middle personally.

Another thing I disliked about N. Tropy's initial fight is The fact that he just stands there for no reason when it is time to deal damage. He is a boss that quite literally lets you beat him, and he kinda ended up doing that a lot. What's the point of being an all powerful master of time if you just give up and let your adversary beat you?
Was that bit with darkside at the beginning a reference to regular pat? As that was basically the same clip he used in his kh1 boss ranking and even had a similar sounding way of saying “boss battles…”
I do watch Regular Pat, but that’s mostly just a coincidence; I wanted to have footage of bosses in general and I had a Kingdom Hearts speedrun I’d done recently to work with.
I just want to thank you for putting crash 2 ripper roo under crash 1 ripper roo, I hate it when they put the crash 2 version above the other… It sucks that ripper roo doesn’t have a good boss fight yet, Even if he was in crash 4 he would’ve been a hazard, he deserves better (I’m not biased because he’s my favourite crash character)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone put C2 Ripper Roo above C1 Ripper Roo before; that’s such a wild take lol. But I’ve seen some crazy opinions in my time. The C1 fight actually has some degree of depth to it, whereas the C2 fight has literally nothing lmao. Roo is definitely a cool character and I’d be very onboard to see him be utilized again in the future.
@@RikoKSB it’s not common but it still happens when the first is objectively better… also important question, you know how crash 2 tiny is this impenetrable threat which you have to outwit, well wouldn’t crash 1 ripper roo be a similar concept but less physically threatening? (Also I have no idea why crash can’t knock over a kangaroo/dog hybrid in a straight jacket but whatever)
I was shocked when I saw you put The Evil Twins’ boss fight at the end of Twinsanity so high up. I’ve seen a lot of people absolutely dunking on this boss fight, including both me and the almighty Caddickydick. This fight is usually just seen as fiddling around and praying Nina’s phase of the fight and general mechanics actually work, and then just running around the maps and shooting the two idiots as Cortex and Crash in the Mecha Bandicoot for what feels like 30 minutes, so I can’t really see what makes this fight that charming.

What I liked about "4th times a charm" is that the mask power is optional. It makes a decent boost in challenge to not use it.

Pretty damn well written, specially for a first script. Only thing i noticed was some audio mixing being kinda funny (some places had the mic louder and whatnot. Not view-ruining or stuff, but a bit distracting when it happened)

Audio balance is definitely something I’m gonna work on improving. The scale of this video was much bigger than I initially anticipated, and it made going back and cleaning everything up a bit daunting. But I have an ideal balance to work with from the get-go now
The twinsanity dingodile fight was spectacular... Definately my favourite one when i was a kid.
Also fun fact about the crash 3 N. Tropy fight; if you fly over to him with a long spin and double jump, he just hits you out of existence with his fork

Great list! I personally think that Cortex's boss in Twinsanity, ESPECIALLY as the first boss, is pretty awesome.

I really do think they were planning on including more minibosses at the end of the final level in some of the hubs, considering that Ripper Roo has concept art of him in a TNT Pogo, and the Run it Bayou variation where it's literally a remix of his theme from Crash 1 NST.
The coolest thing about the final Cortex fight in Warped is that i think the Time Twister's core is set in the area where Uka Uka was freed at the start of the game, that weird idol head on Cortex Island, i think it's Jaws of Darkness? I feel that's the intention, since the boss arena reuses textures that look similar to the ruin levels in Crash 1. Might be intentional or not, but it's still funny to think that Uka Uka gets imprisoned again in the same place as he was before.
If I remember right, the bubbles in Drain Damage actually stop you from moving forward, acting as a wall. It killed me once, but thats about it.
I’ve walked through them multiple times with no issue so idk about that.
I could never get past Nina's part of the twin boss battle only because of how janky the lock on was with her hook grab was for me.
If you just hold both jump and grapple and don’t press any directions, she’ll latch onto them every time.
Completely understandable though; the grapple can be extremely wonky for sure.
Want to know the worse part for me tho. Not only did I not know that but I wasn't able to save on my PS2 so I had to beat the game in a single day each time or start from the start each Time I turn the game on. That said loved that game still
Oh yeah, ever since I laid eyes on N. Gin's CB2 fight, I knew he was my kind of guy.
He definitely had my fave fights because of his mech designs; Top notch dude.
I also like how he took on the music theme in various games (one was Crash of the Titans, and while you're not really fighting HIM personally, he's still playing the organ), and again in About Time (of which I pretty much quit right away because dang, those controls are too much for my simple droid mind, lol).
N. Trance actually gave me a ton of problems, same with some of the Crunch fights (Crunch Time especially). It took me forever to realize how you were supposed to do Drain Damage (poor vision, especially with dark locations, and most likely a horrible TV screen are a bad combo, lemme tell you).
I pretty much rage quit Twinsanity, lol. I'm stuck at the walrus who chases you and I can't get outta there even though I'm not getting side tracked by crates. :/ Before then, I was stuck at the factory where missiles shot from the floor.
But I've also seen boss fight and cutscene vids from it so I don't mind not playing that much. xD The backtracking ability also makes it hard for me to relocate so yeah. It wasn't a bad game, it's just not what I'm used to, I guess.
Now that i think about it Crash 3 N.Gin Boss fight it's made even better now that in Crash 4 flash back tapes it was revealed that he taught her mechanical engineering skills and more and now they are both battling for the main Hero and Antagonist making it just incredible tbh
It does make it even better after 22 years, even if it was partly unintentional. 😭

best part of crash 3 N. Gin fight is he screaming in the space as you defeat him and he falls to earth: "Not Again!"

My issue with most bosses is how there's always a place to stay and hide where neither the projectiles, tnt or whatever simply can't hit you. It should force you to dodge, not hide and wait.
I couldn’t put the evil twins up that high with how the fall damage works sometimes. In a better game it’d be a good fight
I admittedly didn’t consider how finicky Nina’s grapple is if you don’t know precisely how to avoid its problems (which the game never tells you how to do so), and with that in mind I maybe would put them a bit lower if I redid the list.
But I do still stand by the non-gameplay related reasons that I stated for really liking the fight.
Finally, some major love for that Fake Crash fight
Uka Uka in Twinsanity could’ve been so much better if it just wasn’t so easy. His boss music was so good, but you just kill him so quick that you hardly hear any of it
Ngin technically has two bosses in twinsanity one in the Cortex fight as he is controlling the Mecca bandicoot and his fight in the crow's nest (which by the way that is the ring in the sky)
“Crow’s Nest” lacks comedic value.

Entertaining video, kind of surprising to see Crash 3 N Tropy so low, but I definitely see how he's underwhelming considering how dangerous he's played up to be.
The bosses were my favorite part of Crash 4. Too bad I don't really like the rest of the game that much.
I will hope and pray for a Crash game with N.Gin as the main antagonist. He's always been so unhinged, I could see him going against Cortex and forcing him to team up with Crash like Twinsanity. Just picture it. Crash, Coco and Cortex against N.Gin, N.Tropy and N.Transed. A giant space battle full of mind control, time manipulation and giant mechs.
Maybe I'm dreaming too big, but damn.

Great list and I agree with N Gin having the best fights overall. I do disagree with Fake Crash. His fight is unique but if you can beat him in under 10 seconds I don’t think it should be at number 2. I would probably put him in the middle personally.

Another thing I disliked about N. Tropy's initial fight is The fact that he just stands there for no reason when it is time to deal damage. He is a boss that quite literally lets you beat him, and he kinda ended up doing that a lot. What's the point of being an all powerful master of time if you just give up and let your adversary beat you?
Now if we were ranking all the boss fight SOUNDTRACKS... Drain Damage and Crashes To Ashes are definitely top 3

I do watch Regular Pat, but that’s mostly just a coincidence; I wanted to have footage of bosses in general and I had a Kingdom Hearts speedrun I’d done recently to work with.
I just want to thank you for putting crash 2 ripper roo under crash 1 ripper roo, I hate it when they put the crash 2 version above the other… It sucks that ripper roo doesn’t have a good boss fight yet, Even if he was in crash 4 he would’ve been a hazard, he deserves better (I’m not biased because he’s my favourite crash character)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone put C2 Ripper Roo above C1 Ripper Roo before; that’s such a wild take lol. But I’ve seen some crazy opinions in my time.
The C1 fight actually has some degree of depth to it, whereas the C2 fight has literally nothing lmao.
Roo is definitely a cool character and I’d be very onboard to see him be utilized again in the future.
@@RikoKSB it’s not common but it still happens when the first is objectively better… also important question, you know how crash 2 tiny is this impenetrable threat which you have to outwit, well wouldn’t crash 1 ripper roo be a similar concept but less physically threatening? (Also I have no idea why crash can’t knock over a kangaroo/dog hybrid in a straight jacket but whatever)

I was shocked when I saw you put The Evil Twins’ boss fight at the end of Twinsanity so high up. I’ve seen a lot of people absolutely dunking on this boss fight, including both me and the almighty Caddickydick. This fight is usually just seen as fiddling around and praying Nina’s phase of the fight and general mechanics actually work, and then just running around the maps and shooting the two idiots as Cortex and Crash in the Mecha Bandicoot for what feels like 30 minutes, so I can’t really see what makes this fight that charming.
