The one on the bracelet is my favorite. That carving is fantastic. She’s a gorgeous Bacchanite!

Ok, so most cameos were carved in Naples, Italy which has been the center of shell carving for centuries. Most of yours are 1920-1930. The finest cameo is the bracelet and the one without the bezel 1880’s. Most cameos represented Roman or Greek goddesses or gods and mythology. The ones with grapes in their hair are Bacchantes or the followers of the God of wine Bacchus. The ones you referred to as stone or not, but are pink conch shell and Angel skin corals. The Victorian one with the knot is a classic Roman lady with a veil. Men are rare. I have a 14kt large shell cameo of Abraham Lincoln. I also have a shell cameo of the Virgin Mary that belonged to Olivia de Haviland! Wish there was a way I could show you mine. I buy unbezeled cameo and make a bezel out of beads, pearls and gems. Hope this helps! Love your videos!!

To me, the little left facing girl with her hair upswept look like she has a oriental look to her face. They are beautiful!! I bought a lot on Ebay a couple years ago and there were some cameos in it. Several out of their settings. The lady I bought them from said several times that one in particular that was really pink. "May be worth a lot and I should have her looked at" I never have, but maybe I will after seeing your collection. BTW I loved that seller, she was just so sweet. I haven't bought much these days but I think her shop was called Rocky on, or something like that. I highly recommend her. TFS, Lori

I use to collect cameos, they are beautiful..I learned that if you slide the cameo across your bottom teeth, plastic slides real smooth & easy, real cameo shells feel glassy. Try it, you can feel the difference.

I think someone took an antique cameo and made a beautiful bracelet. And for the short hair one I think the young girls would take their longer hair and pin it in to make it look short in 1900 TO 1910. No sure but I think I saw that somewhere.

Great collection of cameo...The cameo with short hair early at the beginning of 1900 the woman had long hair and bend their hair to the INSIDE as a hairdo...I believe that was 1920 - 1948...

Have you ever looked on the back of your old shell cameos to see if it’s been signed by the Master? Only the best ever were signed. I was delighted to find one of my beauties was Master Signed recently. 9ct too, You pretty much can only see the signature scratched in with a torch. There also worth more when they are signed. 😊

The cameo on the bracelet “floats” so it has some give when you open the bracelet to put on your arm. If it is mounted flat to the bracelet it could crack because of the pressure put on it when you expand the bracelet to wear.

I'm new at this, but I bid on an auction and won. It was a cameo encased in a very muscular silver ornamental pendant and it came with it's own silver case. There was another heart pendant which opened also sliver. The three were 28 grams silver. This all looked really old like early 1900s. It was a real bidding war. I have no clue what the real value is since it is definitely antique.

In regard to upturned noses, anything in the 20th century should be considered modern, including celluloid objects. When deciding if a nose is upturned look at the silhouette from the lip to the tip, how angled up is it? Also look at the silhouette from the brow to the tip, is it a bit scooped like a ski jump?
Roman noses typically have a straight silhouette from the widow's peak to the tip of the nose and would be considered too big to be pretty today. Straight profiles have a slight angle at the brow. Upturned noses have a scoop, an upward curve.

Roman noses are very large, pert upright noses are tiny. Age is not the only difference. Italian made cameos favor Roman noses, while northern Europeans favor the pert tiny noses. Neoclassical cameos, think jasperware, have the straightest, longest forehead to nosetip lines.
