    As many have commented, this home was full of fine antiques. I hope that you will start checking out antique malls, especially higher end ones, so you can learn and grow. Their prices were very reasonable and the quality was excellent.

      I can't get over the prices for those fine antiques! Wow. My Mother was a collector of antiques. She had a complete set of Flow Blue China...took her years to collect them.... Then years later, my dad's business went bankrupt and they lost everything... Very hard on my mother. They had to sell everything they owned, and they were in their 70s and in bad health. They both had come from extreme poverty, but my husband and I helped them.
      Viewing this sale reminded me so much of Mother and Dad.

      She needs to educate herself if she's going to continue to try to be successful with her videos and her Etsy shop. She passed by some excellent antiques that would have brought her a much higher return than the 4 items she bought. The basket was nice, but the other 3 pieces are close to worthless. She kept pointing to the door moldings and calling them "crown moldings". The term "Crown moldings" is used only on those moldings that visually join the ceiling to the walls - all other moldings have different names depending on how/where they're used. I won't waste my time watching any more of her videos until she learns a lot more about what she's doing.

    • @thecarolinabungalow

      @kevingurall5555 Just to clarify, I shop for fun and for my Etsy shop, not as an eBay flipper or full-time dealer. The finds I purchased in this video are not worthless. My channel is about enjoying the treasure hunt and sharing the experience rather than aiming for perfection. Everyone has their own journey of learning, and I’d kindly encourage more positivity when sharing critiques. Thanks for watching!

    I just found your channel. I like your calm demeanor and respect for old things. You seem like a very nice lady. My suggestion for you would be to go to antique shops and shows and chat with dealers to learn about things. There was so much there that should have jumped out at you, and many things you misnamed. I'm not trying to be snotty like some of the people commenting. You obviously have a love for old things and it's really fun to talk to dealers. They love to talk about their stuff! Sadly, people that love and appreciate old things are getting fewer and fewer.

    At about 12 minutes there is a red cloth doll. It is a Little Riding Hood, topsy turvy doll. You flip up her skirt and the grandma is there, and flip another part and it has the wolf.

    My mother had a large "Blue Boy" print that hung over a small bookcase for my entire childhood. She absolutely loved him and called him her boy. I have no idea what happened to it when my parents downsized. Tears came to my eyes when I saw him.

      It's touching to hear about the sentimental value your mother attached to the "Blue Boy" print. It's understandable that seeing it again would bring back such emotional memories! Thank you so much for watching Melanie 💛

    Impressed with your RESPECT for former owner's "collections". So familiar with homes such as this + items accumulated over the years. I too live in a home of that era. Some would describe it as "Charming" .. I just refer to it as "Crowded Chaos". ha
    Always imagine the Happy Meals served on the vintage dishes during Holidays. Oh, that small stool,, that's a 70's era plant stand aka milking stool reproduction. They were popular during the Ethan Allen Country Home Decor era.

    • @thecarolinabungalow
      @thecarolinabungalow  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your kind words! I believe it's important to honor the legacy of the former owners and the collections they cherished. Living in a home from that era certainly comes with its own unique charm and character, doesn't it? "Crowded chaos" is a perfect way to describe it sometimes! I love the nostalgia of imagining holiday meals served on vintage dishes-it adds such warmth and history to the home. And thanks for the insight on the small stool! It's fascinating how certain pieces carry the essence of past design trends.

      Usually those prints come in a really ornate oval frame. It was interesting to see them in different frames. Sad you didn’t buy both especially since they were in completely different frames than they normally come in.

    Blue Boy and Pinky usually go together but the original paintings were done by different artists. Blue Boy was by Thomas Gainsborough and Pinky was by Thomas Lawrence both in the 18th century.
