    Lol. Sometimes you think you need new gear. When you really just need to learn how to use what you have. Great video.

    Hey, I too have the same vlogging setup and my issue is the hissing sound (white noise). I have searched the whole internet but nothing worked for me. Can you help me with the same?

    Hey,
    Official video says to set the level between -12 and -6 db.

    Thanks for the great video! Has anyone experienced white noise while using this setup? I’m on manual mode peaking at around -12, and I have a level of white noise which is rendering my videos almost unusable.
    I thought to start with, that it was the M50’s preamps being a bit rubbish, but having seen videos like this, I’m starting to wonder whether I have a faulty unit or cable. Thanks!

      I still get a lot of white noise and a really awful Tinny sound , I’ve changed the cable and still nothing 😭 lowered the manual setting and the audio is still bad 😭

    • @TominSweden
      @TominSweden 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mr_SeanHill I got in touch with Røde about this, they were super helpful and even borrowed an M50 to test alongside the Videomicro. Unfortunately they said that the white noise was a by-product of the poor preamp in the M50. Super disappointing.
      For now I’m using a denoiser in post which is not ideal. I’m looking out for a Videomic Pro (or pro+) to pop up so I can pick one up second hand, as that’s got a +20db gain boost which will basically eliminate the noise.

      I have the same problem and I have tried two Rode microphones and one from Seinhenser
      Is it the camera itself? I don’t think I can return it anymore 😵😵

    • @TominSweden
      @TominSweden 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fercortes1d it’s definitely the camera’s preamp. I bought a Røde Videomic Pro+ and the problem is solved, because it has a +20db gain function. Any powered mic with a +15 or +20db switch will do the trick.

    How do I get rid of the hissing

    • @MichaelSteighner
      @MichaelSteighner  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same microphone? Same camera? Not sure. I would make sure that the jack is plugged in all the way. Sorry, don’t think I’m much of a help there. Have you tried the mic on another camera?

    • @MichaelSteighner
      @MichaelSteighner  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, make sure your input gain is turned down on the camera. Try to record at around -12 DB.

      I recently bought the Canon m50 creator kit which came with the rode mic. The hissing is so bad. Thank you for your quick response. I'm a new sub. Much appreciated

      @@MichaelSteighner I'll try the mic on my GoPro 8 Media Mod, and see if there's a difference

    • @RADERFPV
      @RADERFPV 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jamaicangreatdane3123 The "creator kit" come with a different Rode mic than this one. I'm sorry to say, the one you have is known for hissing, that's why it's rarely sold on it's own any more :(
