Really cool to see the process…… the unbiased work/ investment in time that is greatly appreciated!! The 7 PRC was never meant to replace a gun someone already owned… the manufacturers own podcast stated such… seems like a great option for those that want a new 7 mm. I bought mine based on truth and not on the hype or was I steered away by the negativity around the cartridge. Your integrality shined bright throughout the series… excited to see the other results and the reloading series.

Tim, awesome stuff and thank you for sharing! Every video I am learning so kudos to you, Sensei! You are improving my skills and I am applying these lessons to a new .308. It's already paying off... keep up the great work and I look forward to the next video!!
I finally got my first 100 rounds shot through my new 7 PRC 24” barrel. I shot 80 ELDX hand loads going 2800 once it settled in. Using ADG brass and H1000 (AR2217)cleaned the carbon out and then shot another 20. Loaded up a test ladder using the now once fired ADG brass, H1000, and Berger VLD 180gn Hunters. I reached max book load with no pressure, doing 2919fps. So loaded up another 5 going up in .5gn increments. I got ejector marks and a slightly stiff bolt lift at 2g over max. Going 3018fps. I really didn’t see a flat spot in the graph more a steady increase. 16 fps was the smallest increase so I loaded up 6 more going back from the load under where I hit pressure and tested them again. On the initial test of 15 shots I didn’t get 2 sequential shots landing any closer than 3/4”. They were all over the place. Then repeat test wasn’t much better. I did get 2 land 1/2” apart but it was mostly vertical but only 9 fps apart. So I think I’ll load 10 up in between them and test that? What do you reckon?
Hey Daniel, it sounds like you need to punt. Your rifle doesn't like that combination and whatever you find with that combo is going to give you trouble. If it was my rifle, I would switch to 2213SC and never look back.
Thanks again Tim! I shoot/hunt/load in the SE USA primarily whitetail hunting out to 350 yards but I still try to implement most of what your teaching just a few different components. Thanks again. Hopefully 7mm will continue with some continuing Education.
Some of your vertical shift at that distance could be caused by more or less wind affecting aerodynamic jump. More wind at 3:00 would cause The group to rise slightly. Just a thought
@patrioticguy1791 correct. It's not very much though. It's .03 to .04 MOA per MPH of direct crosswind. It is a factor. But not any bigger factor than my vertical aiming error.
Another great video. Pick something up on everyone. Update on the 270 LRX load. Took it out for mule deer. Shot a buck at 323 broadside and a doe at 350 hard quartering to. Both one shot kills. Both were pass throughs. Both went less than 20 yards from where they were shot. Bullet is awesome! Highly, highly recommend IF it will shoot in your gun and you can keep the velocity up.
Great series Tim. You know you could rename this series to: "Teach a man not to be a follower", or "learn to think on your own". Keep up the good work!
I don’t have a lot of time to do this much work. For me this series has shown the value and cost effectiveness of custom equipment that is calibrated by a professional; you get what you pay for!
Thanks John, I love the 25 caliber cartridges and the 257 Weatherby specifically. But I think the 6.5's have WAY better hunting bullet choices. That said, I don't think EITHER cartridge is a good choice unless the barrel length is OVER 28 inches. If you want a 26 to 28" barrel, I think the 6.5 Weatherby RPM is the best choice (with Peterson Brass). If you want a 24" barrel, get a 6.5 PRC. If you want a 22" barrel, get a 6.5 Creedmoor and get it over with.
Good formula. Good to have a line in the sand to test to. Took your advice for the 7 saw. Going to go with the 160 CX. GRT is predicting 2887 as a pretty doable load. Going to buy a box and test to see if it lives up to that. H4350.
@SpudOutdoors thank you. I think that's a recipe for success. Start at .007 jump if the magazine allows it. Otherwise start at max mag length minus .010 N150, N550 and N540 would be great burn rates for you as well.
So much great information. Today I will chat about ammo. I have had what I would call, disappointing groups w Hornady’s Precision Hunter in my 7RM, 6.5 PRC, 6.5 CM (Tikka Tac A1) and 6 Creed in Ruger Precision. Groups between 1.5 - 1.75”. Smaller calibers love the Match ammo, but in my 6.5 PRC, a few times I needed to extract a loaded round, the round gets stuck in the chamber (or the bullet in the rifling). I doubt the bullet, because I have been following your method of load development and in hand loads same 147 ELD Match seated at same length as factory, does not have that issue. Took the rifle hunting in August and ran all 40 factory loads through the action and sorted out the ones that got stuck. No other brands of 6.5 PRC had this happen. I have more loads to test now that farming is done on the farm. And am anxious to run them to 600 yards as you have done. More excellent effort and content.
My friend Ryan Cheney did just that. Go check out his video. He was the first person on Earth to publicly test all 3 side by side. Search Ryan Cheney ELR. You'll find him.
I can not thank you enough for all this info. I'm new to hand loading, and I have learned so much from your 7mm series. My plan is to build a 7 prc, and you are teaching me variables I never knew existed. Also, without being able to get ahold of any reloader 26 coming in late to the game you have shown me there is another viable option. 🫡 thank you so much
Will say I've played with it a little. There might be something to it. I don't think it trumps having all the fundamentals dialed in that you talk about. And I think there's a possibility that it might be getting found to a point when you find sequential charge weights that hit in same area.....????
I disagree I’ve shot 300 rounds of 7 prc precision hunters and I’ve had velocities range over 100fps and 1.25_1.5moa. Hand loads with h1000 consistent 2900fps and .55” groups

H-4831sc for the win!
I use that powder for everything except 308 win!
🤠 YEP, MY FAVORITE POWDER TOO! 🤑
Great job as always.
Love the hat!
Love the Bob.
Why no 160 LRX given how well it did on prior video?
As usual great content. I have a little off topic question. Long range deer cartridge 257 weatherby vs 26 nosler, which do you recommend?

The Barnes 160 LRX that you tested in your other video has been the ticket for me. .4 moa groups out of my GW ClymR.

so does the difference in group to group dispersion go to show that what hornady says in their podcasts is correct?
Be interesting to run a Garmin beside the Lab Radar to see any differences.

Another great video - for the 7, do you go with .5 grains steps or 0.3? And how do you choose the window - for mid to max?
In that size of cartridge go .5 grains increments.

Any expericence with .300 PRC?
Thoughts on the Sherman cartridges ?
Lots of extra expense and headache for zero practical advantage in any hunting application.
@LittleCrowGunworks Do you have a favorite SA Magnum cartridge you like over these long action setups?
