The 2016 Rocky Mountain Blizzard models -50 and -30 both have 150mm and 197mm front and rear hubs, making these bikes true fat bikes. The Specialized models sport a 135 front hub with spacers, yes spacers and a strange 190 rear hub. Many other fat bike manufacturers are creating these 135x170 bikes and calling them fat bikes. The 9zero7 models are true fat bikes that claim the same hub sizes as the 2016 Rocky Mountain models. I'm a former owner of a 135x170 fat bike (2015 Norco Bigfoot)and can honestly claim that the new Rocky Mountain models to be far superior to anything in the 135x170 hub configuration. They are way more trail compliant and exhibit more of a true trail bike bike handling experience given their aggressive steering tube angle of 68.5 degrees. The Blizzard -50 is a joy to ride pretty much over any terrain. These Canadian made fat bikes most certainly should have made this list, but as I've read here this list is a European list of the most commonly purchased fat bikes in Europe. Fat bikes are a complete blast and it's great to see the sport of fat biking grow so quickly all around the globe.
Just bought a Salsa Blackborow and it is rockin'. Specked out components, Sram, aluminum, 4.8's and redesigned frame equals a blast! Probably not on this list because they were out riding instead of taking pictures...
The top fatbike is the one you have in your house. Is the bike that share your fun everyday. Do not let anybody say anything about she. She is YOUR bike.
I just test road the 2015 specialized fat boy pro at a bike shop this past Saturday in Saratoga Ny. I fell in live with it immediately . Right now I own a 2012 trek 4500 like new that I would like to sell towards the far boy pro
+Ronin Kadosh Hola Depende que tipo de downhill vayas a practicar Estas bicis tienen mucha estabilidad a altas velocidades pero no es una bici especialmente echa para dh Ten en cuenta que son mas pesadas y frenan peor que una de DH
Guys, I have Question Please give me advice: The Cable Break or Hydraulic break ? Cable is easy to maintain and cheaper. But Hydraulic break good but expensive, and Maintainent? like have to check see if it bubble inside or fluid level? Any professional please help! Thanks
Paul Mitroi Fat boy has a "carbon" fork that is mostly aluminum with no thru axles front or rear, is heavier than most other comparable frames and comes with low grade hubs.
Maybe they author should have clarified why they chose these as the top 5. I suspect the ranks are based on features for the money. Also note these are higher end bike, and my personal opinion is the $2100 "Fat Boy" from Specialized is the best deal.
Some good choices in that mix but definitely not the Top 5 models available. Most of these companies are just getting their feet wet in the world of Fat design and production. 9ZERO7, Borealis, Fatback, Salsa and Surly who are all the market pioneers didn't seem to make it to your show.
Thank you for your comment The Top was made in Europe and the problem is next-all the important producers of Fat bikes dont sell here My favorite is 9 zero 7 Are the best
+Fat Bikes Canada Agree! Maybe the title of the video should say, "Top 5 Fatbikes I saw today". They are nice bikes, but the Scott Big Ed is nowhere near something like a Borealis or Salsa Beargrease or Muk. In the next 3 years I believe the mainstream companies will be all caught up, but right now its the original Fatbike companies that still have the edge.
+Fat Bikes Canada If a supposed contender comes with Vee Rubber it automatically gets a bad mark in my book. No offense but their tires are yuk. I am not giving a nod to QBP but it seems they have it figured out on the fat tires. So many of the tire brands out there have the dreaded auto-steer effect on dirt and I have found the Vee's to be the worst when it comes to fat bike tires. I have rode most of them too.
+Fat Bikes Canada Agree completely. I've ridden or demoed quite a few fat bikes and the best to me is the Salsa Bucksaw. I didn't even care for the Trek Farley shown as No. 1 in this video.
+Fat Bikes Canada , I have the first production year Moonlander. For the then $2499 MSRP I felt like I got seriously ripped off, to the point of I won't even bother to look at anything with Surly's name on it. I also have Trek's Farley 7, which is a good bike aside from the fact that the top speed is pretty low. My personal favourite is my Heller Bloodhound, it's the lightest and the fastest of the three I own.

Salsa Beargrease would blow these bikes away.

Wow...how about a 21 pound Fat Bike www.lamerecycles.com/ that rocks at the races and is used as a 50 mile a day commuter...just saying.
