I've fished most of my life but you have given me so many techniques that we just learn from the school of hard knocks. Thank You Mr. Gene!!! I truly believe that fishing is GOOD FER YA!!!
Havent had time to fish in 4 days cuz i’ve been workin hard and its 90 degrees at night so i don’t feel like goin nightfishing...but i’m glad youre still out there slayin um richard gene!
Indeed it's so darn fun catching bass on top water poppers ' my all time favorite is the ol school frog and bluegill popper and the classic rebel popper black n silver ' I've caught my PB smallmouth last year with the classic rebel popper and that sucker weighed 7 pounds' awesome video gene!!!

Topwater in a light rain is magic. Most of my fishing is low pressure systems. The lower the clouds the better! Of course Gene, you know this trick. We about the same age and been doin it ever since the big war. (Talkin bout NAM, of course). 😝
That looks like me the other day on my kayak on the little Chickamauga creek! No topwater action but weedless bitsy jig and dark green watermelon flake grub trailer and a couple of 4lb Billy big mouth bass
Richard. Great, thanks. Can you comment when you cast as to how far you are throwing? The camera makes the background to be 150 yards when you are really 40 feet away. You explain everything so well. A little insight as to where & how far would help some of better understand the hunting/searching process. Thanks again for always great content.

Takes me back to fishing for schoolie bass on Ft. Loudon Lake. Caught a 6-pounder once in the middle of the 1-2 pounders. It's tons of fun. We used to throw spinners and crankbaits mostly and pull em right through the shad. Seemed to always work better than top water. You can catch em till your arms are tired. Thanks for taking us with you, Richard. It's always one of the top parts of my day.

Ive been using a jig recently too. Ive caught bluegill, catfish, carp, largemouth, and a few crappie. Remember that they are "the most movinist of fish" keep trying and good luck!!

I use a rebel pop-r in relatively shallow water (about 1-4 feet) with some success. But I've never had success in deeper water. Can you use the pop-r in deeper water (8-10 feet)?
