Richard Gene, you are a humble man, who loves to fish, and is willing to share with anyone. Those of us that watch your channel, and feed off of your wisdom, are better for it.
You do have a great channel & don’t let any negative comments bother you because we all have a great time watching you, we learn a lot & love you man. Keep it up & God Bless you Mr Richard.
The reason why this is a great community is because of you are good at showing people how to fish in a way that is very informative and very good natured. It's a reflection of who you are...keep it up Richard Gene ...i really enjoy it.
Always enjoy your videos; down to earth, good tips with a few antics along the way. Thanks for the time and effort you put in to share your fishing experiences with us!
You are the greatest Fisherman ever. I wish I had just had half of your knowledge and experience. I live in west Tennessee and been wanting to fish Lake Guntersville. Maybe I'll get to meet you when I do.
Hands down the best way to catch bass is with live bait... shad, bluegill, shiners, crawdads, etc. I think using plastics these days is part of this whole "everything now" culture we live in. Nothing beats taking your time and doing a job all by hand. Great video Richard.
Richard, your the Bill Dance of the average Joe with the best video and audio out here on you tube. Watching your videos is the next best thing to being live on the water.
I very much appreciate your channel. I especially appreciate that you give a lot of practical advice without taking half the time trying to sell a product. Most of the fishing I do is bank fishing from some property I own on the Ogeechee River in SE Georgia, and fishing in an 8.5 acre lake on the same property. The lake was drained in 2016 for dam repairs and the fishery is still recovering. Its stocked with normal suspects, bass, bluegill, red ear and channel catfish. It has a huge small warmouth population that exploded while the water was low for the dam repairs. In fact we have so many baby warmouth that we ended up having to restock the pond with adult bass rather than babies. Oh, the pond also has a fair amount of redbreast sunfish as well. Those washed into the pond when the pond up stream overflowed in the recent hurricanes. I guess I will go ahead and risk boring you by explaining how we ended up with so many warmouth. We had to keep the pond drained for several months for the substrate on the bottom to dry out enough for us to get the heavy equipment across the creek channel without sinking to China. One escavator did try to cross at the wrong spot and sank in the mud to about an inch of the window. It had to be pulled out by two other escavators. Anyway the creek and the bowl of mud at the base of the dam did not have enough water to sustain the bass or crappy that were in the pond, but the bluegill, catfish and redbreasts survived and the warmouth had a million babies. There was never more than a smattering of warmouth in the pond before, so we had no idea how many were in the pond. The pond filled back up with Hurricane Matthew and received a bunch of redbreasts from the pond upstream when the water around that dam. To this day I don't understand why we did not get any bass out of that but we didn't as best as we can tell, just big redbreasts and big bluegill. We did not realize that we had so many baby warmouth, so we did what game and fish recommended. We stocked the pond with bluegill, red ear and catfish in November and all seem to survive just fine. We waited until April to put in the bass to give the pan fish time to grow, but meanwhile the warmouth also grew and when we put the bass in, they ate every one as best as we can tell. Since then I've put in about 80 adult bass in from various ponds and I went ahead and put about 200 more redbreasts in from the river after talking with the fish hatchery owner who indicated that I might as well since we already have them. (I like them better than bluegill, but they only do well in a pond with a sandy bottom and lots and lots and lots of trees and stumps in it which this one has.) So bottom line. I have a pretty diverse fishing playground. It's just that most of the fish aren't very big yet. I am starting to catch some of the babies from the adult bass I put in, so that has me especially excited. The bigger warmouth are pushing five inches long now, and in a couple of years we will have the best warmouth pond in the county. God bless. Marcus
I love it Richard I love bass fishing I fell in love with it when I was just a kid and I love it you did a fantastic job me and Daddy used to go out and use shiners minners back years ago you brought back a lot of good memories I can't wait to get out there and stretch a tight line as soon as I can love the video keep up the great work tight lines to you
Another great video Sir, it is great that you talk and teach how to's instead of playing music and just fishing. Those kind of videos are not any different than the normal person out buy themselves fishing. To my opinion that is not a fishing video it's more like a music video. I would much rather listen to you tell how when where and what to use in your opinion. So that's what I do I watch your videos and a few select others. Thanks and God bless.
Your the BEST the Hell with the rest brother!!!! Haters will be haters...they can watch a cooking or cleaning channel if they don't like you!!! We love ya Richard keep being yourself 👍loved the video as always!!! Awesome catches by the way....Gl in your future fishing trips!!!
I AGREE AND DISAGREE. THIS INCREDIBLE ANGLER OUGT TO BE ON BONA FIRE TELEVISION!! HE'S EXPERIENCED ENOUGH AND STRIKES AN EXCELLENT BALANCE OF INFORMATION, ENTERTAINMENT AND EVIDENCE!! HOW HE IS A CARPENTER AND NOT A PROFESSIONAL ANGLER,ONLY THE GOOD LORD ABOVE KNOWS!!
I saw purple skies last night. How many syllables does the word bass have it sounds like 2 or 3 Beyasse catch us a big beyasse. Often time my mouth was larger than my britches LOL. Thanks Gene nice fish i believe your happiest fishing and you would fish forever pretty good beyasse. Real windy here today just north of Atlanta Ga. 7-19-18 its atleast 20mph at times yip yip yip gotta beyasse on big fiyisshe on. I am laughing watching this you always look so happy fishing you have fun. Thanks Gene.
I don’t see how anyone could give a bad comment about this channel. Like you said... it’s their opinion and opinions are like smells. Every bunghole has one. Just keep them good videos coming Mean Gene!
Peace Richard! Can you do a clean and cook video on crappie and bluegill? We know you are the man with the fishing pole. We wanna see how you get down with the fillet knife and frying pan! That would be great
I almost never get as much bait as I want when I'm casting and ready to go fishing. I bought a bubble bucket and go cast the night before now. I add some bait keeper to the water and just a small amount of crumbled dog food. You lose some but a bubble bucket and bait keeper helps a lot.
You can definitely tell you been throwing a net trying to catch at ol bait!!!! Thing that sucks is when I go striper fishing in winter and can't buy a dozen jumbo minnows, and I really want some of them striper FILLAYS and I head to lake boat in tow, throw net in my bucket, and I just know I can catch me 2 nice 10 pound striper, and I forget to bring my rain suit, and it's cold as all get our outside, and I have to throw net for 30 minutes to catch bait and get all wet and cold as cann be, but I ain't a goin home until I catch my 2, run out of bait, or it gets dark, so you just kind of tough it out. Feel good and proud on the good days, have fun. And get a good meal. On bad days you still have fun, but you go home hungry thinking about them fillays and cold, whewwwwwwwww weeeeee you talkin bout cold. Done it before and my pants and coat freeze from water getting on me from net and it's so cold. Still though. Them fillays just call my name!!!! 😆🤣
Richard I think you're my long-lost brother. It's strange how life works. I lost a co-worker and friend last year. He used to call me brother. And you remind me of him so much. Or is it he reminds me of you, or just maybe you're a lot like me. Keep doing what you're doing brother.
You just tell me who it was Richard me an elmo a getum ...nice vid man you should try that big dam you fished with live shiners i think there are big ones there you pulled them in...lol. Thanks
Thanks for the great videos. I have used some of them to help educate my son and honestly myself. It’s a pleasure to watch you fish. Keep up the great work. If you ever get to northeast Georgia I would like a chance to show you some of my local spots.
Richard another great video. I do have a question. If you were to have to move to another location after you catch those shad. How do you transport them? Thanks
this method works good, also live blue gills and bream, u can catch catfish and bass on them here.. caught nearly 17 pounds with 3 bass on big live bream..
Man you know everything about your local waters. I wish we had a guy like you in Florida, our freshwater systems are so shallow the fishing is drastically different. I don't think Florida makes people as smart as you so I'm SOL
I noticed you got a shower of rain with the sun shining. Old folk used to say that the devil was beatin his wife when that happened. Funny how stuff sticks in your mind after so many years.
No telling how long that's been around. Probably a lot longer than you and I. My grandparents had a ton of them old sayings. I miss hearing stuff like that.
Awesome Gene ,it's a lot of fun to stick those big ones! Very addicting!!!! Thanks for the videos ,big Jim. I'm going to try making some my self here in California!
Catfish Heaven It’s legal in many states. I’ve caught a number of whoppers on big bream but large shiners will out fish them every time. Bass are very careful about eating bigger bream. They’ll hit em and let em go numerous times to try to kill them before they swallow them . Bream have very strong fins and I’ve found several big bass floating dead that had large bream wedged in their mouths. It’s just difficult to find shiners around here.
ya its hard to find shiners here too, plus u never know what u are gonna catch on the bream, ive had huge blue cats eat them, flat heads, and bass love them..
Richard Gene, you are a humble man, who loves to fish, and is willing to share with anyone. Those of us that watch your channel, and feed off of your wisdom, are better for it.

I noticed you got a shower of rain with the sun shining. Old folk used to say that the devil was beatin his wife when that happened. Funny how stuff sticks in your mind after so many years.
Wayne Swicegood
My Grandma used to say that. I haven’t thought of that in years. Thanks for bringing back a memory from my childhood.
I first heard the term, "Devil was beating his wife" from a school mate when I was in the 2nd grade in 1958.
No telling how long that's been around. Probably a lot longer than you and I. My grandparents had a ton of them old sayings. I miss hearing stuff like that.
I heard when it's raining and suns is out and you hear thunder!
