I wouldn't call myself a PC veteran by any stretch, I just feel confident with how much I know from a few builds and lots of hours spent watching videos/reading articles. There's always more to learn and maybe there are some corrections that can be made to what's said. For example: Jay said Afterburner has to be uninstalled from safe mode to fix it running too strong an OC from boot. I learned, from some other comments, that you can actually just hold ctrl on boot to override the settings that were in place.

I will say this. Overclocking may not "break" a GPU/CPU/etc., but it will reduce the lifespan of the component. Now, some say, by the time you actually start seeing it fail, it'll be long obsolete by then, but as for me personally, I highly value reliability, so I don't think the small gains with overclocking are worth it at the end of the day.

This video, and "what to do after building a pc" video, were extremely helpful. I was having that "PWR" issue that you said people were freaking about. But your explanation of what I was looking at was very insightful. I have an evga rtx 2060 12gb and had a 500w 80+ bronze power supply. Was "freaking out" about the PerfCap Reason I was seeing and bought an 850w 80+ gold full modular. Was still having the "issue" so I started digging. So PWR reason for being capped is that I'm hitting the limit that can be drawn from the motherboard? If so, the part that currently holding me back is my motherboard. Still having PWR, VRel, and VOp being the cap reason after maxing out the power limit in afterburner.

I think GPU manufacturers should have more focus on that... GPU's for a big part are getting faster because the gpu's are growing in size and they cram more power into them. They're not getting much faster because they develop more efficient GPU's. With the current RTX cards and this new RX 6xxx cards we have some very powerful cards that will work fine for 99% of the market... so let's keep the performance where it is now and try to (dratically) reduce the power they use.

When I did use Nvidia GPU's, I liked them less when their program demanded I log in with some sort of account. Yeah bugger off. Glad manual drivers exist. I do agree when I do look at GPU's I check RAM amounts along with size and price. Oh, and if my PSU can handle it.
