My pleasure! Chiamare is not reflexive therefore it involves 2 or more people. You call someone else. “Ti chiamo”, I’m doing the action and you are receiving my call. Chiamarsi, being reflexive, involves only one subject at the time. “Mi chiamo Edoardo” is only about myself, nobody else is involved. It is the same with all reflexive verbs. Many verbs can be used either in a non-reflexive or in a reflexive way. Sposare/sposarsi Chiedere/chiedersi Fare/farsi Svegliare/svegliarsi And more.
