I now own every single CLANK! expansion as well as every base game. They take up so much room on my shelf. It is all your fault for introducing me to this series. Thank you.
I used to do the "getting the 5 point treasure to start the mad dash to safety" bit until my brother did it and I crunched some numbers and realized it wasn't worth it. Not only is it not fun, you'll also will only be filled with starter cards that WILL slow you down. Giving enough time for other players to reach the upper area. It's a red hearing for beginners to teach them a lesson, it's better to be ambitious than to underachieve in the game, which fits with the kinda "Master Thieve" narrative it sets in-world!
I love how the flavor oozes through when you play Clank. It's not just the cards that have the flavor, but the artifacts, the board, and everything else really help you feel like you're in that setting (space, pyramid, dungeon)
DireWolf Digital had a hand in making this! Nictotraxian, the dragon in Clank, is a card from their CG Eternal! Both the board game and card game are pretty fantastic.
Seeing how much you like Clank (and deckbuilders in general) I *definitely* have to rep Tyrants of the Underdark. It's a similar idea of marrying a deck-builder with a tabletop game, but instead of a looter/adventure game, you play as the leader of a Drow house trying to seize control of territory in the Underdark through politics/military force. I *love* deckbuilders myself, and from Ascension, to Clank, and even ol' Dominion, Tyrants is hands-down my (and my playgroup's) favorite. While Clank has more random elements to it and focuses on risk-reward, Tyrants is more focused on politics/strategy. Though, to be fair, politics can be pretty random in its own right, depending on your playgroup! Seriously though, seeing how much you love this game reminded me of my love of deckbuilders and, by extension, Tyrants, and I think you'd love it too. Not saying you need to buy it or make a video or anything (it is on the pricier side), but I'd at least bring some friends to an LGS that has a demo copy and give it a try, I think you'd enjoy it.
This was one of the first boardgames I ever purchased and I haven't regretted it yet. It's such a fun game to bust out if you have time for 2 matches, since people always want to replay after learning through the first one.
Now I want to see your opinion is between Base game Clank! vs Base game Clank! In!Space! Also I want to see your opinion on Imperial Settlers because it is one of my fave games because there are so many combos to be had and its nice to see your tableau grow.
If you like the concept of a deck-building game with an accompanying board that the cards affect, I would recommend Tyrants of the Underdark. It's a bit longer and more in-depth than Clank, but I really enjoy the area-control aspect of it.
FYI: Black Pearl card is part of the Sunken Treasures expansion and not the base set. You can tell by the watermark underneath the text (as with all of the expansion cards).
@@ProZD All the more reason people should go pick up Clank! and it's expansions. The game is that cool that you personally don't normally take the expansions out! And I love the fact they they are coming up with new mechanics for new boards like Expeditions: Gold and Silk. Thank you for an excellent video.
Clank is one of my favourites! It's a great spin on deckbuilders by having the physical component. I've never not had fun playing the game, even when I lose terribly.
If you're ever in Virginia for some reason come to Crossroads Tabletop Tavern. We're a full restaurant/Bar and game store. We have over 1400 games and you can try them out while eating great food
Hey ProZD, you should check out Dice Forge. It’s basically a deck builder but instead of building a deck you each build a pair of dice (they have detachable faces). As someone who loves deck building games I’ve had a lot of fun with it and I think you would too!
me while watching mechanics: why don't i just pick up the stuff nearest the entrance and leave? sungwon: basically if you play with someone like that, don't play with them ever again. me: oh.
there are definitely some pretty overpowered cards, but the game's short enough that for me, it's just part of the fun, seeing which cards you can snatch up
ProZD yeah I just feel that it needs expansions in order to have a decent amount of playability, maybe my friends and I arn’t creative but it really did seem like whoever managed to grab this card or that card early on won.
I have the base game, and like you I love how it combines deck building with the board game dungeon crawling. Super fun. I have been meaning to get the expansions for a while. Any specific ones you'd recommend over the others? Or are they all good? I want to try out Clank! in Space as well. I heard it fixes the "rush to first artifact, leave, end game early" strat that is annoying. Not sure how, but that is what someone on Dice Tower was mentioning regarding the two.
My mom gave me a copy for Christmas last year, and I have only played it once because my friends don't want to learn a new set of rules. I will keep this video on hand for future playthroughs. I need a little bit of clarification on when the dragon's rage increases. The one time I played, we moved the dragon after each attack, and it got up to five cubes per attack very quickly. When should the rage increase?
Regarding the Clank, it seems very interesting but I generally don't like games that eliminate players during playtime. How often do players actually die in the dungeon and have to just wait for the game to end?
As someone who is pretty new to board games this seems interesting to me, but should I get Clank, or Clank in space? I hear they're both good so I'm not sure, but I do generally prefer fantasy to sci-fi. Any advice?
i'd recommend original Clank if you're new to games, they're both very good, but Clank In Space is slightly more complicate, plus Clank has the fantasy dungeon theme. if you end up liking Clank, THEN i'd also recommend In Space because it adds a lot of interesting mechanics while still being familiar to those who played the original
Clank also has 3 different boards/expansions to spice things up if you do end up liking it. Space has only 1 expansion that mostly changes some of the gameplay. Go for Clank, it has better variety and is the better game in my opinion.
I actually think Clank In Space is much better than the original game. It has more interesting mechanics, and vastly improved on the endgame, changing the way it works to make it even more tense. Overall it just feels like a straight up improvement from the original game, although it is more complicated.
it really depends on my mood, i think In Space has much more interesting cardplay with the color combos and i like the mechanics they add, but that game feels like a race from start to finish. if i want something where i feel like i can enjoy the crawl more before the race, Clank is what i'll pull out (that, and the expansions add really fun new flavors)

The sequel Clank in Space is apparently even better, though I haven't played it yet.
it's very good
Monochrome Pen
but in space, no one can hear you Clank.

I never put that connection together! That's super cool!
One of the first deck builders we bought but it's our absolute favorite. Own every expansion for both regular & space as well. It's that damn good.
Question: what other deckbuilders do you own?

Clank is a really great game. It’s like trains (bored game). It more logical. Though in clank, I played the space ship board

I love deck building and I love games with a good theme.
oh wowsers!!! some of the past card/board games have looked a bit tame or complicated, but the story and look and rules seem AWESOME!!!!
You've hearted me, that means i gotta go buy this game now! I love your channel sunnywong!
Finally a game I actually own.
I'm glad it took 47 episodes to get there. It's the Star Trek number.
I love clank! Great combination of a deck builder and a board game.
FYI: Black Pearl card is part of the Sunken Treasures expansion and not the base set. You can tell by the watermark underneath the text (as with all of the expansion cards).
whoops, i tried to take out all the expansions stuff before hand, but that one slipped in

You made a really good video explaining the way the game works. You made it look very fun.
oh my gosh this is the game that inspired Hermitcraft's Decked Out!!! It looks like so much fun!
My favourite christmas board game ever since the video got released!
Clank is great game and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. Every person I've played it with had a blast.
Subbed for the memes, stayed for the quality content.

Bought this after you're recommendation. This game is fantastic
Take a shot whenever he says "clank", lol.
I played this game at a board game cafe with friends. We all agreed it was the best one we tried.
I PLAYED THIS TWO WEEKS AGO ITS AMAZING
Played this game last week! So much fun!
Looking to get the expansions!
I recognize those pieces from one of your skits. 😆
Boop, boop, bododoloop.
I know what im picking up at my LGS next time
I fucking love Clank! and Clank! In Space
One of my favorites...
Ive played this game, its so much fun! Theres new expansions
I love this game!
Clank is pretty fun though it doesn’t really go in too much depth. There is a very clear “best possible deck”

listening to this on x2 speeds it sounds funny
So an entire game made about the moment Bilbo burgled from Smaug. ok
Review Settlers Of Catan.
