I am a Farmer from the States. You have done a great job with your Farm, and your channel! Everyone hopes that everything will be alright with your cattle!
Karen that was a bloody powerful message you presented that came from the heart, fair play to you for doing that. Without doubt the the stress and pain TB causes to farmers and animal is totally unacceptable and surely would not be accepted in others sectors. The biggest frustration is while the authorities and department do nothing , nothing will change they have to tackle the root cause to salvage the situation. Yourself and fathers work ethic and and animal welfare deserves so much better. I wish you well
Good on you for Speaking up about this! The Stress on all the Farmers including yourselves is unbelievable! I just watched “Sisters in Wellies” TH-cam channel… They lost I believe 27 cows 🐄! Thinking of you all! ✌️🇨🇦🚜
Say it like it is Karen, as you put it, there are solutions, they can be simple like a vaccine or hard trying to control the wildlife. Someone in government over there and over here needs to pull their socks up and get this problem sorted once and for all. Our next test is in February, I will keep everything crossed for us both.
A great speech Karen , it's long overdue to eradicate this disease in cattle . I can't believe all these farmasutical companies can't come up with a solution to it . Well done for pointing out that it ruined livelihoods of farmers, and also the constant worry when it comes to testing. ❤
The cattle need to be vaccinated. It doesn't matter if the test can't distinguish between a vaccinated animal and a TB carrier once milk is pasteurized and meat cooked.
You have a lot of valid points, no control of culling wild deere has to be looked @,I just hope and pray that you're lovely herd survive this ordeal, keep the faith that 2024 will be a good year for you and your dad 😊
I'm sorry for your loss Karen and I would say you are right about the deer, because most likely they are picking it up from wildlife, badgers are most likely the source and they in turn are passing it to livestock,tb has been around too long, it's time to eradicate it,I agree with everything you say 100precent and I congratulate you for the courage and strength for speaking out.thank you Karen ❤
Well said Karen, you are 100 per cent right in everything you said. It's about time the farm leaders in this country start looking for answers. There has been protests on a number of occasions regarding beef prices and so on, start protesting about the TB crisis. I think there are too many vested interests, a lot of money being made and no one gives a dam about the person like yourself that cares and has a love for their animals. Oh but we must protect the wildlife while we slaughter cattle. I'll tell you one thing, if these affected animals had no value and nothing was to be made out of them, this would be sorted long ago. Hope everything goes well for you Karen.
Hi Karen. I lost 60 cattle in 2011 to TB. and when you are an animal lover it is hard. Totally agree with everything you said! I have been saying it for years, if they can test for TB in the factories why do farmers need to test at home and if they have TB, the cattle go in to the food chain anyway! 🤷♂️
Our farm has been a closed herd for over 20 years, this year we had 8 cattle go down with TB for the first time in 45 years ( Cornwall UK ) i agree with everything you said.
Great video. We’re on 4 monthly tests due to “high rates in the area”, haven’t had a reactor since the 80’s. Last time the vet was out I said it felt like they were just going to keep testing until they find something, the vet agreed it felt like that. It’s a crazy system.
KAREN Congratulations you have nailed it. I often think that the Department dont want to eradicate TB in cattle. as you said it has been done in other countries why not in Ireland. Too many pockets would loose their lining. You are a wonderful young lady doing your best . Keep doing what you are doing and speaking the truth and let everyone know what THE POWERS THAT BE are doing to us all. I know exactly how you feel. Keep up the good work Love your videos and your honesty.
Hi Karen, totally agree with everything you said and not to mention the stress you have to put up with and the worry now until next test, where i live we no deer until deforestation and now a few farms have gone down as a result, on a more positive note where only one animal was involved and the rest passed ye probably got there on time and usually the next tests are clear tests best wishes.
Karen, the cattle look nice and clean and healthy. You know how to give wonderful care to your animals. I am so sorry your system is broken. Hopefully the system will be improved very soon. Blessings to you.
I am new to your channel . As a fellow farmer, I completely agree with you. You've shown an incredible amount of restraint and compassion with your words. The people in power should listen to farmers like you, who actually see first hand, the devastation this disease can cause. God willing, you won't lose any more animals. Well said and all the best to you and your family. Keep the faith.
Hi Karen You 100 % right in what you’re saying. Im sorry to here ye have TB it’s a scourge of a thing. I’m a dairy farmer I too am locked up but unfortunately for me with 4 years. We had one brake for 6 months in early 2022 but are still lucked up. I’ve lost 180 cows to date to it 40 of these in the last 5 weeks out of a heard that was at 220 but unfortunately I can’t maintain my numbers anymore I’ll be drying off this year with 130 cows and given hundreds of calves away for free. I too feel there could and should be more done. Its sole destroying to see your hard working and efforts be loaded onto lorries and driven out the gate. I also could write a book on the department for ya at this stage. On there shear lack of care I find. The question I keep asking is how did Australia manage to eradicated tb starting in the late 60’s early 70’s by 1997 they go there statues of being TB free and they had the exact same testing methods we still have today. I keep asking the department how did Australia manage to do it and we can’t. It’s beggars belief. Sorry for the rant 😅
Very sorry about all this situation. I've watched it on other channels and it is impressive. Here on the Azores we have been free of it for about 12 years, after the last case in S. Miguel Island of a 150-cow farm had to all go. Hard measures for us farmers but on this part (could not say the same for other aspects of farming), the state system has worked very well going from the EU to National to Regional governments. I subscribe to your words and for anything to work it has to work on every branch of the government hierarchy and between who is responsible for farming and nature and wildlife conservation (I do not know how bureaus are organized over there...). Unfortunately, here we have a growing number of cases of people promoted to places of counselling that are more green activists than scientists.
I could not agree more Karen, well said and I feel for you and your family and every other livestock farmer out there. The very best of luck to you in the future
Fair play karen. So sorry dat you had u have this problem. Having experienced TB in 2020 i losted my hole herd it was heart breaking. As you say unless wildlife is sorted its never guna fix the problem. Stay safe karen and family im always here for a chat
Great video Karen, spoken from the heart. In our area of Fermanagh we are overrun with deer and TB is rampant. Nothing is being done about it just keep slaughtering our big pets as we know our cows.I have lost one dog with lime disease and our current dog has it now plus I have been tested myself and am waiting for the results. There needs to be a serious cull on deer but it won't be done. I dread to think what the next 10 years will be like. Keep your spirits up Karen and enjoy the farming it's in the blood.
That took guts. Well done for speaking up and highlighting this issue. I'm in my 60s and as long as I remember TB has been an issue and it's hard to imagine that it hasn't been eradicated. Like almost everything in our lives nowadays it's been monatized by everyone involved especially the government and their greedy corporate buddies.
I hope the powers that be would listen to videos like this karen , a hard working farmer that does her best for her cattle, there isn't a farmer that hasn't a story about TB Break down, take care & fingers crossed for a clear result next test👍
Well said and explained 👏 agree 100%. I was told by vet years ago when I had TB not to worrie that it doesn't spread amongst cattle in the shed. Found that hard to believe but its what I was told.
I 100 % agree with you Karen. Fair play to you for telling the story straight. Hopefully that will see the end of TB for you. Wishing you the very best.
Well said. The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over in the same way and expecting a different outcome It doesn’t work. Until the root of the problem is solved nothing changes👍
I knew you would come back strong you are a great voice for small rural farmers the deer are riddled with it not enough People now shooting anymore deer is another problem being ignored in this country years agosto People rock care of these problems themselfs to mano do gooders now Who dont have a actual club where there food comes from keep up the good work and your intress
I feel for you in Ireland and England with the problems of TB. Living in Scotland not having to deal with TB because of how heavy handed we had been with the first cases of TB and the wildlife. The problems we have in Scotland is idiots importing pet cows, goats, pigs, alpacas from England and Ireland without having them tested
Great Points karen I agree with everything you said you hit the nail on the head it's so sad killing animals well before their time it's heartbreaking for the animal and the farmer something is broken that's for sure...16 days is way to long to leave an animal it's disgraceful I really feel for you and hope you have no more reactor's but as you say it will be very lucky If you don't...Everyone can see how emotional you are about your farm and rightly so sending you lots of hugs ❤
agree with everything you said you have to tackle the source of the problem ---just watched the sisters in wellies video about there TB problem and said the same thing tackle the source ---stay strong and keep safe and lets hope none of the other cattle have it
Great speech and I agree 100 percent. I lived in the UK in the 80s and TB was a problem then. its still an issue but only affects a small percentage of the population so the government doesn't seem to care to fix the problem. They can come up with a supposed vaccine for Covid in a few months but can't find a fix for TB in several centuries. Follow the facts or follow the money. I imagine the money is where the problem is. It is so sad that this is still causing farmers so much stress and heartache.
Great points made all true and none of them can really be debated. The only thing that will be debated in the argument is how badger and deer culls will affect the wildlife ect despite either of them having no natural predator . There will be no talk of the impact on farmers or their business’ or their health. The system is definitely failing but nobody will try and change it. Keep the head up your doing great
Keep your head up Karen you are an inspiration and I can see how difficult this is for you and your family. You made some extremely valuable points there.
It sounds like y'all need some of our USA Alabama folks to travel over and take care of that deer population for you. They would have in under control in one hunting season. I have loved watching you and your cows since I found your channel. I hope that y'all get solutions instead of more problems. As the good Book says, the love of money is the root of all evil.
Young lady I’ve been following you for a long time you speak so much common sense you should be chalking for the position off chairmanship off the ifa this tb crack has been going on since I was a child I’m now 67 your abreathe off fresh air good luck
WOW!!!! what passion you speak with about the situation you find yourselves in with the reactor, there’s an old saying,if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,but in these cases on Ireland, obviously there is a problem, that needs fixing
Thank you for the update. Interesting to see how countries handle TB. You cattle is looking very well and healthy. Fingers crossed that it stays that way!
We have lots of deer here, we see so much deer fencing going up to protect all the tree planting. Many badgers too, we keep a night camera on the feed store but powerless to stop them breaking their way in. Our neighbour also had a reactor on his closed herd and has been shut down all summer. Stressful times. Thank you for explaining it all so well and hope that was an isolated case.
very very well spoken, I had no idea what ineffectual bureaucracy and poor government policy you had to deal with when dealing with TB . Leaving herd animals alone for that long is not right and the question of the unusable vaccine was mindblowing. We have a problem with White Tail Deer here and every time some sort of cull is suggested the usual crowd start screaming the place down but they don't have to deal with the consequences. good luck and thanks for the videos, I learn a lot.
Lost for words very interesting video losing one is one thing but the uncertainty you face is daunting living with the fear year in year out. As you rightly said the problem is being painted over, culling the wild animals is what needs to lessen the risk.None native animals should be eradicated if proven to spread disease, other country’s do it so should Ireland.
Super speech Karen. You put into words what we all feel. TB is a industry where lots of money is being made. The stress on small farmers that have a reactor is unreal. The department has gotten so hardened to TB that they do not understand the mental suffering the loss of a animal causes. Karen keep your head up and hopefully all will go well. It is so sad to see top class stock being destroyed.
Preach it Karen!! The end game is the elimination of small farmers/landholders and moving all food production to large corporate farms. If you want to keep your family farm and family genetic herd intact, then you are going to have to fight like hell. Don’t give up! Fight! Organize and fight!
Well said Karen you spoke amazing the TB is keeping vets practice going and that was a vet told me that they can develop a covid vaccine in a few months but yet TB vaccine can't be developed because at the end of the day its about money not about animal welfare or about farmer welfare keep up the good work you are an amazing girl Karen Ps I not a farmer I work on farms and do at least a days testing with different vets every week
Great video karen well done you have great stock and pets made of them the dears should be tested fingers crossed you will have a clearer test in March
Karen at times like tb you for a young lass have a lot on your shoulders , you should be so proud of yourself, the livestock want for nothing , I really hope you can get a cull on deer 🦌 problem , can the government sit up & listen to your cry for help , Karen keep up the excellent work you do nothing but love & attention to your livestock omg the emotional story 😢 you are one amazing young dedicated lass god bless ❤
Omg Karen, my heart breaks for you. I hope you get thru this. Everything you say makes total sense. Just know, whatever the outcome, you did everything you cud.
Since the deer population went out of control here in Dunmanway Co Cork the TB is totally rampant here 😢, we are scared of the test coming up in March, it was a video of truth Karen. Keep up the Great Work Karen & your Dad.
First of all I want to give you a big hug 🤗 not easy loosing cattle I lost 5 to TB test in May I know what you went through it's a 💩🤬and I agree and said most of what you have 😮i'am lucky we've done 2 60day test both were clear and I hope you we be too🤞🙏🤞may be one day someone will listen to farmers and sort it Take care 😘
It sounds like you are pretty spot on in your thought process. Though I do hope it turns out the be a one time event, and your next few tests go well, and you can return to a normal operation. Sadly, when it comes to government action, they just never run all that efficiently, and a lot of it is because of reasons you mentioned, there is little incentive for those who have some money and power...which are not the farmers. All you can really do, is hope for the best, keep doing what you do, and caring for the animals the way you do. It is interesting to see the difference from how things work here in the US and other countries, but it would be nice if they looked at places like here where TB is not really an issue, at least not in my state, we don't even test cattle unless they came from out of state, and maybe just if it was a known TB area....it would be nice if you had that level of security there.
Well done for using the platform you have created to highlight the issues, the systems we have in this country and the potential impact the alternative approach would have to the industries that developed band income stream from this scourge. There is a huge amount of research, which is not being used to develop a single mitigation to problem.
God help you Karen. Take this from me unfortunately you will remember this tb outbreak for the rest of your life. I can see and feel the pain in n your voice. U are on the verge of breaking down. God help you. I ve been there where you are now. It’s not easy. I can compare this to loosing a family member. City people at the time laughed at me saying won’t u get paid for the animal s. No money will compensate for the anxiety and pain are going tru. My aunt at that time told me if I was passing a small country church that u never had been In before pop in and say a prayer. It does give u some solace. God help you and your family.
Karen well said it seems to me that the here in the uk anyway the government dont want farmers they wouid rather import our food not very environmentally frendly farmers need help and support and they are not getting it well done for standing up and speaking out
Hi Karen, I am a recent viewer/subscriber and have just viewed your video "A bad end to the day". I started watching your channel due to the recommendation from Adrian on the Ifarrn Wefarm channel. The Ifarm Wefarm channel has 58K subscribers - a wide audience to hear that he supports what you do. I love your channel even though I live in Australia and am not a farmer. Ignore the "haters" - leave them to their own pathetic thoughts and actions.
Well said, Karen . Things need to be sorted out. Not by someone sitting in an office, but by people who know. Keep going Karen, our thoughts are with you and your dad. Not forget the cattle.
You are 100% right Karen I wonder if the cats and dogs in Dublin Cork and all the other urban areas where getting TB I bet the government would really try to do something about it to keep the voters happy the fact is rural Ireland is always going to be way down the list on political party's agenda we don't have the votes maybe we should campaign to get cattle the vote if they had a vote the problem would be solved in no time. I wish you and your Dad all the best of luck and although I know it's not easy try to stay positive 👍
Hi Karen, another great video, I see that you're getting a lot of good comments. i agree you made a very powerful video, with i totally agree, i hope we'll see major changes to sort out this TB problem .I hope Karen you're the one that will get changes started. 🙏
100% correct in what you say, and well done for having the courage to say it as it really is. Trouble is nobody in position of power has the will or courage to do anything about it here in Wales anyway, or by what you said in Ireland either.
I totally agree with everything you said theirs vacancies that other countries are using for tb why are the not using them here wild life control is essential For the last year and halve TB is rampant where i live most of my neighbour's went down with it one lost his whole herd 200 cows another lost 45 as well several other farmers went down having 1(2 animals with TB The stress on farmers losing animals in this way is unimaginable how they deal with it i don't know This was the best and most honest video I've seen on the subject of TB Thank you Karen Moyhinan hopefully the next tests will be clear wishing you all the best and sorry you had too go trough this on you're farm
Hi, that's been a tough video to watch being honest, but you are so right in what you say, the disappointment in Ur voice & face says it all really, there's got to be a better way of dealing with this issue, it's tough going for you and Ur dad at the moment but hopefully it will all be ok, wishing you all the best, you know that ye have great support & fair play to you to point everything out that alot of people are genuinely not aware of.
A powerful video and I agree with everything you say. I’m aware of the seriousness of the Deer situation in Kerry and also here in Galway. If you had badgers you would see where they were rooting up the ground. I lost 8 cows 🐄 to TB a number of years ago. I found a badger in the middle of the day. This is a definite sign the badger is sick. That caused my problem. Yours is definitely a deer 🦌 problem. Please god everything will go well for you in the next test.
Love watching all your videos and taunts and I never miss any one I no Tb is around big time sad to see one go but hope the rest will be good I could listened to you all night amazing finger crossed ❤
I’m not a farmer, I feel so sorry for you all.I know one thing,if the disease effected family dogs or cats then something would soon be done.Where I live there is a Heath , the fire service said required cutting right back down, someone said that they saw a badger in there once so it’s not being done!! I retired from the railway, badgers dig there setts into the embankments causing land slip effecting the tracks…still can’t get the badger culled..Wildlife needs to be managed🏴🇬🇧
They is steps been brought in the control of deer. They know there is not enough deer culled in ireland. They are in the process of change. could take a few years to take effect. unfortunately. Keep up the good work. Keep ur head up.

There is a vaccine, but it is not allowed because vaccinated cows would always test positive.
I agree with everything you said .

So so well said, so much stress put on farmers, definitely wildlife is the problem, deer is all over the place, thank u
Your point of view is put across very well.Too many agencies gaining .Farmer and and farm animals loose again.
Karen, the cattle look nice and clean and healthy. You know how to give wonderful care to your animals. I am so sorry your system is broken. Hopefully the system will be improved very soon. Blessings to you.

Very well spoken governments are afraid to deal with Tb
The stress on farmers is dreadful I'm so sorry ❤

Totally agree with you Karen and it's so hard when you're a small farmer hope everything goes well for you for the future
Keep the head up your doing great
Totally agree with you well said Karen . Let’s hope that it all works for you and your family.
I no the feeling girl I am in the same boat as you I went down with tb on Monday all 300 animal's on the farm has to go well sayed
You are 100% rite deer and badgers are the scourge of all cattle farmers
Well said Karen . The situation has not changed one iota since my Fathers herd was decimated way back in 1958.
I just got myself a night camera off Amazon just to see what's out and about
@@karenmoynihanfarm we are shocked what we see. Phone and talk to John if you want advice on the camera, took him a while to get it right. Xx
@@anndavidson6690 Thanks very much. I must have a look at it during the week
Great video 100% spot one. Too many pockets been lined.
very very well spoken, I had no idea what ineffectual bureaucracy and poor government policy you had to deal with when dealing with TB .
Very good speech Karen well said
I just watched the 'Sisters in wellies' channel and they said about the same thing about the hassle that you go through for positive TB tests.
Crikey. So much pain and emotion in your video. I am so sorry for you, and hope that the luck is with you for the rest of the herd
I can hear the pain in your voice. Much love from east anglia❤
Great video karen well done you have great stock and pets made of them the dears should be tested fingers crossed you will have a clearer test in March
Very well said about the tb problem in Ireland
A great speech on tb and all people making money on it and no wildlife control
Karen at times like tb you for a young lass have a lot on your shoulders , you should be so proud of yourself, the livestock want for nothing , I really hope you can get a cull on deer 🦌 problem , can the government sit up & listen to your cry for help , Karen keep up the excellent work you do nothing but love & attention to your livestock omg the emotional story 😢 you are one amazing young dedicated lass god bless ❤
Thank you! ☺️
Well said bless you and hope all goes well
Omg Karen, my heart breaks for you.
First of all I want to give you a big hug 🤗 not easy loosing cattle I lost 5 to TB test in May I know what you went through it's a 💩🤬and I agree and said most of what you have 😮i'am lucky we've done 2 60day test both were clear and I hope you we be too🤞🙏🤞may be one day someone will listen to farmers and sort it
Take care 😘
You are 100% in your analysis of what is wrong remember that money talks and someone Is profiting for the farmers misery
That’s what is hard to change
Well Done Karen well said you are a fantastic speaker 👌
Great video. A video that should have been made years ago to get a proper TB eradication to get things under control. Well done 👍
That was a good informative video, you are spot on
Karen, kudos to you and your findings and opinions! Great Spokesperson, indeed!!!
Great job on explaining what goes on with TB , I hope it doesn’t fall on deaf ears. I agree with you. 👍🏼
Karen well said it seems to me that the here in the uk anyway the government dont want farmers they wouid rather import our food not very environmentally frendly farmers need help and support and they are not getting it well done for standing up and speaking out
I just watched sisters in wellies & they have just lost 9 cows due to tb here in the uk down to badgers, it’s such a shame, thank you Karen 😊❤
Thank you so much and thanks for having a look on Adrian's recommendation
Well said, Karen . Things need to be sorted out. Not by someone sitting in an office, but by people who know. Keep going Karen, our thoughts are with you and your dad. Not forget the cattle.
Well done karen well said my heart going out for u and dad
You are 100% right Karen I wonder if the cats and dogs in Dublin Cork and all the other urban areas where getting TB I bet the government would really try to do something about it to keep the voters happy the fact is rural Ireland is always going to be way down the list on political party's agenda we don't have the votes maybe we should campaign to get cattle the vote if they had a vote the problem would be solved in no time. I wish you and your Dad all the best of luck and although I know it's not easy try to stay positive 👍
Karen my tears for you are hoping you are ok.
Hope they find the Root of the problem.
Sending Hugs and love to you all ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Karen, another great video, I see that you're getting a lot of good comments. i agree you made a very powerful video, with i totally agree, i hope we'll see major changes to sort out this TB problem .I hope Karen you're the one that will get changes started. 🙏
Thank you karen.im really hoping u will have a next test clear.
Powerful message from you Karen, hopefully the powers that be will take on board your comments and deal with the issue.
100% correct in what you say, and well done for having the courage to say it as it really is.
Trouble is nobody in position of power has the will or courage to do anything about it here in Wales anyway, or by what you said in Ireland either.
I totally agree with everything you said theirs vacancies that other countries are using for tb why are the not using them here wild life control is essential
For the last year and halve TB is rampant where i live most of my neighbour's went down with it one lost his whole herd 200 cows another lost 45 as well several other farmers went down having 1(2 animals with TB The stress on farmers losing animals in this way is unimaginable how they deal with it i don't know
This was the best and most honest video I've seen on the subject of TB
Thank you Karen Moyhinan hopefully the next tests will be clear wishing you all the best and sorry you had too go trough this on you're farm
As someone from the states who doesnt have to deal with this at all can someone explain the reason behind the testing and slaughter
Hi. Karen i totally agree with everything you said. All the best
Thanks for the update on the tb test hopefully it's just the 1 🤞🙏 spot on with everything you said
They is steps been brought in the control of deer. They know there is not enough deer culled in ireland. They are in the process of change. could take a few years to take effect. unfortunately. Keep up the good work. Keep ur head up.
Badgers that have TB like to cool down in drinking troughs like baths that are used for drinkers for cows
