I begin the Main Quest up through Mirmulnir since it's required to begin the Civil War. Stormcloaks are faster, because you can just skip the battle of Whiterun. But I begin with the Imperials, since that way I don't have to go all the way to the Serpent Stone, and instead I have to go to Fort Hraggstad, where I have to go during the Stormcloak questline anyway. So that's one less location I need to go to. Also, I realized after doing this run that you can clear out Fort Hraggstad before going to Rikke and avoid taking two trips.

In all that playing time I don't even decide which character to create.
At first I was like "Yeah, for the Empire!" Then he discovered a Stormcloak camp an I was like "what..." Then he discovered Fort Hroggstad and took the oath from Tullius and I was like "Yeah, for the Empire!" Then he gave the crown to Ulfric and I was like "traitor!"
I suppose it's all a matter of what's faster? Does the Stormcloak storyline from Whiterun onward take shorter? Maybe because you don't have to face waves of soldiers at Whiterun and can just rush your way to the palace? []
it's faster mostly because of the battle of whiterun. the imperial beginning is faster since you get the fort hraggstad fast travel point for later

which skyrim are you playing is it classic skyrim or is it skyrim special edition/anniversary edition. also how are you turning around corners so fast while you are running?
-original because the fadein animations are faster (which adds up to minutes of difference)
-high mouse sensitivity and (in windows settings) turn OFF mouse acceleration
*Could you do the College of Winterhold next please?*
the plan is dragonborn questline next, then college, then thieves guild extended (until guild master)
