  • 1966 F100 on stock twin I beam front and stock rear suspension sells for record price in a downturn economy. Zero body mods.
    This Raptor Crate ENgine powered '66 with a 10 speed automatic a huge hit at Mecum Glendale where it shattered everyone's expectations. Hidden in a tent away from main stage it was seen by few. With buyers fee hit a record 165k!!

      Retirement only a few months away. It was a tough decision to let it go but will open new doors for me. 3-4 yrs ago when the RaptorR was a for sure set a goal to buy one at MSRP. July 18th Last year got the call from my dealer & was offered a allotment for one. At that time I figured sell all the trucks but then decided to button up a few things on this truck and listed it in January for April 1st sale. It's scheduled to be built week of May 15th now but still unsure if I will keep it and sell more of the old stuff. My brain and body are toast from spending so much time and $$ over last 50+ years with little to no pay. Learned a lot, Right now I think last count was 10 more 1965-66 trucks. I have one for sure that will be a keeper a clone of truck my dad bought new which I have gathered parts for but not built yet. Would like to save 3 trucks one for each of my daughters and families. Time to slow down and wish to end up with something new to keep. For sure will take delivery of the R when it shows up but will see then if I can afford to really keep it some way some how. Play it by ear I guess.
      Not regretting the sale of truck at this point but do miss it for sure. Hoping next week I will get paid for it then take it from there. Thanks much for following along and taking the time to comment.

      Thanks a bunch! Owned it 23yrs and was very hard to let go. The longest by big margin I have ever owned any vehicle. It met every goal I set for it in beginning and then some. 600 rwhp, 900 miles on a single fill of fuel, 25 mpg highway, The braking really wowed me with 60-0 stops in under 3.0 seconds! 500 mile day trips and still felt great. Comfortable, quiet and smooth with probably 700 rwtq was a great driver. Now the challenge will be to build the next one even better . . Old age is here but a few tricks left.

    Hey man I been following for a minute I found you because I’m doing a 19 raptor swap on my 17 xlt well I already did it dropped right in as planned I decided to go with 5 star for custom tuning but for some odd reason it’s doing something similar to what it was doing before the tune where when you run it it shoots hill assist and service a the emergency braking all while it deciding to restart at the same time I wanted to reach out to you to see if you have any ideas what I could be missing I figured if you can toss a similar motor into a 66 I should be able to do this with ease but still havnt figured out the kinks yet

    • @randysrestoration
      @randysrestoration  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Would need a lot more info. What PCM, BCM, what was prior engine. What wiring harnesses were used etc

    • @Shmokingas710
      @Shmokingas710 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My first swap so everything still a little new to me, my original motor was a regular gen 2 3.5L ecoboost since my trucks a xlt the wiring harness that came with the H.O wasn’t compatible with the truck so we used the old wring harness from the original motor, everything else is oem, I havnt messed with anything else other then giving it a 93 tune, I noticed it likes to do upon acceleration where it seems to almost lose power for a split second,I havnt had it spit out any check engine lights, I have the the stock pcm and bcm, the guys in the ecoboost forum told me maybe I need to get a fourscan and clear the pcm and tcm, or even check the codes from those to go from there, I was thinking maybe the break light sensor was acting up?

    • @Shmokingas710
      @Shmokingas710 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Update: I’m thinking there’s a loose wire or a ground wire just not getting the proper connection it only happens when I hit bumps and upon harder acceleration

    • @randysrestoration
      @randysrestoration  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      most likely a ground issue
