Great video.. I have a whirlpool top load that runs the same way and the setup is the same, direct drive shaft.. Mine was agitating but not spinning when it reached that cycle. Changed the clutch still didn't spin. Checked the coupler and it was good. With the cabinet off I checked to see if the clutch was spinning when the machine was on, it wasn't. Took off the transmission and manually turned the motor, didn't turn. Decided to go into the transmission. As soon as I set free the plate that covers the transmission, where the oil and gears are, about a cup of water rushed out. So I decided to drain all of the oil that was in the transmission, and half was oil and half water. Cleaned the transmission with kerosine and a clean paint brush, allowed it to dry, topped back up the transmission with 16oz oil and assembled the machine.. Machine is now perking, agitating, spinning and working like brand new.. Before this episode I had to change the tub, upper and lower shaft seals due to a leak. I guess what happened was water leaked into the transmission causing the gears to slip.

Thank you, it was the coupler and I discovered it due to your video. No one else gave as thorough and understandable explanation as you did.

Replaced the coupler on my Whirlpool last summer, was surprised how easy it was. Still running good. Washer is about 14 years old.

I the exact Maytag model in this video. I replaced the motor, the coupler is in good shape. I suspect it’s something in the dial. It’s makes a humming noise and I can smell the motor getting hot. I have to unplug and mess with the dial to get it to work.

My 2003 Electrolux Frigidaire Crown Series White Front-load Energy Star Washer model CRTF1240ASO will not agitate or spin, but still pumps & drains the water. Also, the Selector Timer knob moves quickly through all cycles of wash. What part do I need to replace or how to fix my problem?

Hey I just bought a brand new belt for my maytag washer. I lifted it up because it still wasn't spinning or agitating. The belt is spinning along with all pulleys but it's still not spinning or agitating. Do you want it maybe?

I have kenmore direct drive. about 75% of the time it won't spin and close are soaking wet. But If I turn off the power during spin cycle, and turn it back on, 100% of the time the spin will work normally. I don't think its the clutch or the coupler, and lid switch is bypassed. Im thinking its the timer, or the transmission not telling the clutch to engage. But not sure which one it is. RECAP: won't spin unless power switch is turned off and on during spin cycle.

@@memo503046 Yeah was a bad Timer switch.. I opened up the timer and all the contacts were black. I may have caused the damage by shorting the lid switch when that went bad. Anyways working great for a year now after timer replacement!

Did the belt turn in agitation mode, but not spin mode? My belt spins in agitation mode and makes really high pitch noise in spin cycle and the belt doesnt turn? Any suggestions, the belt is frayed and the pulley doesnt have much tension but it still spins in agitation

What if it goes into the spin cycle and you hear the motor humming but it wont start spinning until you get it started by hand, then it will spin fine?

I was about to ask the same question, I just replaced bearings and seals and now mine needs help starting. There is a motor start capacitor on the side of my motor, I wonder if that could be bad? Maytag centennial 12 yrs old.

Well my washing is like literally from B.C. and it’s probably all mechanical up at the controls
When it was spinning i switched it from (2 Rinse to 1 Rinse) and right when i did that i heard a sound (ticking) and it never worked again
Note: it agitates it doesn’t spin
This is a kenmore 80 series
If you want to keep reading go for it
So in order to test if it worked i started a load like normal and left it to do it’s thing but i was standing close by and it stopped agitating and I waited and waited and nothing happened it wasn’t even draining without spinning so here comes the fun part
I took all the wet clothes out and rang them out and set them in another room with a huge fan to dry them off (there was a blanket in there) then i went with a cup and scooped all the water out manually because there isn’t a drain hole in the back so i did that and put it all in the floor drain and after that i used dehumidifiers to take all the water off the floor
Problem is my dad is probably going to kill me
    So yeah
FOR EVERYONE HERE I HAD THR LID CLOSED

    I hope someone can
help me. I have a washer that I am unable to turn the coupler on the
transmission clockwise it will only turn counter clockwise BUT with motor and
transmission out of washer both spin freely. Since I am currently unemployed I
have to determine if its the transmission or something like the brakes dragging
or basket drive assembly. i noticed the cam has no play outside the washer but
while turning the basket drive assembly counterclockwise to get it back up into
the washer it is difficult maybe its supposed to be? Also once in the washer
there is alot of play in cam. One other thing I noticed was once the
transmission was in the coupler would spin clockwise a little bit but not
enough to turn the tub then I would hear a click and it wouldnt turn anymore
and it never turned far enough for the tub to spin. Is that click something
locking up with the brakes or in the transmission? i disassembled the brakes
took of the spring to make sure they move freely. There was no play in the
brakes so they seem okay to someone who doesnt know what they are supposed to
feel like. Also we replaced the transmission fluid with 90 wt. Ugh someone please help we have been watching
videos and searching the internet for a week. We replaced the capacitor before
figuring out it was bound up somehow. thanks in advance for any help you can
    give.
