    Brutal. Nothing ‘Pro’ about using tanks and snares. Use your hands and hold your breath like the big boys.

    This person is going out to catch crays legally in West Australia. He's after a feed that's it. If he is lucky enough to have scuba good on him. We go for a feed and getting them quickly gives you more time to sit back and have a beer. Yay
    We have to clip the tail immediately so they can't be on sold illegally.
    Thems the rules :)

    do you prefer the snare to the net and stick method? I never used a snare before, what do you do if they are deep under a rock? I am really bad at catching them.

      In Western Australia the snare is preferred and is handy to get into hard-to-reach places. Not too sure if it's legal to use the net and stick method here. Sometimes if they are in a tight spot within arms reach you can just reach in and pull them out by hand. Just keep on trying and eventually you'll get the hang of it. You'll miss alot in the beginning and it will be frustrating, but when you develop the knack it becomes much easier.

    What is that you are using to catch lobster? It looks like a pipe with rope at end?

      Armand Orsolino It's called a snare. They are available in local tackle and dive stores. It's basically a steel tube with a multistrand wire insert. This method is only allowed in certain Australian states such as Western Australia.

    • @GetfishingAu
      @GetfishingAu  10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi Elle. This is a legal requirement when catching lobster in Western Australia. It is to prevent recreational fishers from selling their catch to commercial premises like seafood stores. Seafood stores for example can only sell lobster with their tail in tact. Hope this makes sense :)

    It's so weird seeing lobster without claws. Do you guys eat the meat from the legs as well? We do here in Canada but Atlantic lobsters are much different.

    • @fairlanewhip79
      @fairlanewhip79 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it’s pretty much just the tail with decent meat.

      Yeah and to make it even more confusing the rock lobsters here get called crayfish or 'crays' despite not actually being crayfish

    Why do you want to cut tail

    • @GetfishingAu
      @GetfishingAu  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question. It is a legal requirement required by all recreational anglers in WA to ensure the fish cannot be sold commercially.

    You're not a pro if you use SCUBA gear and a lawsuit try going with goggles and then make your videos catching crayfish by hand and you get a lot of comments trust me not trying to be a fence full but do it the old way that's how people like it trying to give you a tip I live in every single day and I get heaps of likes on Instagram

      no need to be a cocky bastard, this is legal and this is how he prefers to do it, so if you don't like it go away. At least he is sharing content with us.

    lol anyone can catch crayfish in a scuba gear.....

    • @tcutler2009
      @tcutler2009 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do both scuba and snorkel.
      It would be almost suicide to try to find crays at 20 to 30 metres snorkeling.
      You go where the crays are and why do more work then you have to?😀

    Maybe just try snorkel and use no tools. And our limit is far off from 14 !! Were only allowed 6 per diver

    Why did you snip the tail fin?

    • @mahery6124

      Recreational Cray fishermen must do this so they can't sell it to restaurants and stuff.
