GI Joe Classified Series VAMP Review

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 15 มี.ค. 2024
- For Episode 275, I'm breaking down the G.I. Joe Classified Series VAMP. This has been a highly anticipated release for me. Does it deliver or stall out?
Note: I realized the extinguisher can be positioned in the latch behind the seats after recording. - บันเทิง
Since the flag is on the right shoulder, the US flag has to be reversed, just like if it is on the right side of a vehicle. The blue rectangle with white stars cannot be towards the rear because it signifies retreating. The US does not retreat in battle. When the flag is on the left side it doesn’t have to be reversed because it is facing forward and signifies charging the enemy.
Thanks!
@@LylesFigureFilesYou got it, brother! 🤘🏼
Great review! 2 things you missed, The hood opens up so that you can work on the engine, and there’s a clip behind the seats that holds the fire extinguisher… It’s supposed to go there.
Thank you!
It's crazy how much they packed into this. I completely forgot the hood and realized after I recorded about the clip behind the seats.
What? The good hood comes up?
FYI the flag is not backwards. The stars always face forward. Think of it as a Calvary horseback rider charging into battle, carrying the flag. I’m really impressed with this vehicle. Couple of wishes: extra pair of driving hands as the trigger finger hands work, but clumsy. And would’ve liked a way to clip the ammo boxes down below the 50 cals. so they don’t move around.
Thanks!
There is a "fix" for the ammo boxes. Position them vertically in the space and they'll "lock" in place.
I never came across your channel before, so I was very excited when I came across it today because I have been reading your written reviews for quite a few years, good job! As a totally blind collector, it is important to me that a review, no matter video or written, have to be full of details that I can't see and your reviews have always been very enjoyable to read.
Thanks so much. I'm glad to hear you've checked out the written reviews too. I'm posting my write-up of the VAMP very soon. Really appreciate the kind words!
Love it! Keep spamming YT with these VAMP reviews. Mine just shipped but should be here early next week!
LOL. I was reading about that drama and happy to share the fun of getting it. Hope you enjoy yours!
Great review Jeff. What stands out to me the most from the video is how pumped you are for having it! I know how much I love toys, but it feels good to watch a video review and read the comments section and be surrounded by other folks that do to!
Thank you RR! Unless there's some major QC issues, I'm usually excited about most of the figures I buy. There's a few lemons of course, but this one definitely blew me away!
Great review. You can put the fire extinguisher behind the seats, between the headrest. There is a ring, it can slide into.
Thank you.
I realized that after I recorded it :-(
Thanks for showing the VAMP with all the Joes loaded up on it.
That is something that really shows the VAMP's potential.
Thank you, AP! That's how my Joes have to load up on these vehicles!
Sweet score Jeff! No doubt you'll be test driving this in the backyard for a Spring photoshoot now that the snow has thawed??
Oh you know it Blake!!
You are literally the only person on the planet who likes putting on stickers.
No....there is another.
3:31 😅😆😁😄 Fortunately, places like toyhax are able to survive on a consumer base that doesn't breach single digits.
@@LylesFigureFiles Me, well maybe. Putting them on can be stressful but I take my time and love the different look they give you for customization. The sticker sheet for the Haslab Skystriker is a great example. You have so many different options to customize your jet with that.
I knew I wasn't the only one@@malcolmar! I love being able to shift things up with the sticker placement!
@@malcolmara number of transformers fans enjoy it. but i have terribly unsteady hands so i am less than happy when i have to. (there is even a third party company dedicated to making stickers for transfomers)
Excellent review. I appreciate you zooming in on clutch to show off the details of the figure.
Thank you. I'm still working on improving my figure reviews so the feedback is definitely helpful!
When you said Snowcat, I yelled out "YES!" hahaha I like how you put a bunch of Joes on it. Cool look. Great review! #VampSpam
Thank you! Seeing how well this turned out I definitely need a Snow Cat pronto!
I love it. I wasn't too crazy about the return of the gummy-weapons, but over all it's an awesome set. I also noticed that the treads on the wheels do have a direction and if you install them right out of the box, each side goes in a different direction. You can pull the tire off the rim and reverse it so it matches correctly, but that would just be a minor detail aesthetic. What I can't wait for, is to see what sort of tow-ables that the team puts out. Obviously, the SMS is going to come; that's a no-brainer. But when I was a kid, I had the twin gatlin-guns. I loved that combo.
Wow. Didn't even realize the tread detail. Thanks for pointing that out! I'd love both of those and the HAL too!
Thank you for the review. Especially packing as many joes as you could. This was what I wanted to see, but not other reviewers weren't showing.
My Vamp will be here this week, can't wait.
Thank you! I HAD to see how many Joes I could cram in there. That's what the VAMP is for, right? I know you're gonna enjoy it too!
Great review! Great looking figure and vehicle too.
Thank you! I really had fun breaking this one down!
Great review. I'm part of the Vamp gang! I got mine two days ago. I wanted to watch a few reviews before i opened mine up.
It looks cool with a bunch of Joes piled on. I'm gonna use my Mezco SnakeEyes and Roadblock with it. I heard the Deluxe Roadblock is too big to fit comfortably in the Vamp. I'll see.
Anyway, great review, and I'm looking forward to more vehicles from Hasbro.
Thank you, Stephen. I've seen some pics and looks like Roadblock fits in there just fine.
This really made me look forward to more vehicles!
Mine is arriving next week and I'm SO EXCITED!! Great review :)
I am sure you’re gonna enjoy it too!!
This is very nostalgic for me because this is the first Joe toy I ever owned. As a kid, I entered an art contest at a local TV station and won the vintage version. I entered another contest later and won the Cobra vehicle that was similar and had the red rockets on the back. That launched me into collecting Joes. I will never forget on Clutch's card it said he "greased his hair with motor oil" and still calls women "chicks". Fun times. I'm so glad I ordered this one.
Clutch just seemed like such a wild and fun Joe. So glad he's in the line. Thanks for sharing that story. That was really cool.
Excellent video and review of a great figure and Vamp.
Thank you so much. I had a blast working on that one!
Great review and a great shirt i love the vamp i will order another one when it comes back in stock
Thanks James! It was one of my favorite vehicles and so happy it was done right!
Mine is in transit currently. Very excited, but bittersweet. I sadly had to skip both the HISS and the Dragonfly (unexpected financial woes both times), so this will be my first larger Joe vehicle. Regardless, it looks great! Solid review as always, thanks! 😎👍
The VAMP cut the line on my HISS so I still need to review/open that. I think you’re gonna really enjoy it!
Good review fam, the vamp totally impressed me. A lot bigger than what i thought.
Thanks man!
Me too man! It's taking up some nice real estate on my Joe shelf :)
Oh yeah, my email is lylesmoviefiles@gmail.com
Love it! Great review, buddy!
Thanks so much man! It was a lot of fun!
Outstanding Review Jeff!
Thanks 80s!
💯
Hey Lyle. Thanks for the review.👍
Thank you for watching!
I received my Vamp yesterday and I absolutely love it!!
It is so much fun!
Great review. Bring on more vehicles
Thank you! I'm looking forward to more vehicles too!
I didn’t know this! Thanks! Looks great!
Thanks for checking it out!
Totally worth it! I am waiting for tracking info for my order!
Looking forward to hearing what you think!
@@LylesFigureFiles I just got it today. Dude, totally worth it!!! I am getting a display case for it so it can sit on my shelf and be dust free!
I thought you would dig it!@@ICECREAMAN1701
Well done review bro. Mine is going to be delivered in a couple of days.
Thank you! I know you're gonna enjoy it!
@LylesFigureFiles Actually got an update that my VAMP will arrive by end of day Sunday. I'm hours away is all now. Looking forward to the SMS and the Ferret as well. We are so lucky to have GIJOE on a great run now. Still wonder what the "Whip Snakes" 2 pack is though. I need Cobra troopers badly. Only have 1.
The fire extinguisher goes right behind and in between the heads of the driver and passenger.
Thank you!
I love this size of vehicle. I can't wait for the Sky Hawk.
Me too! That's gotta be in the works soon.
absolutely worth it! cant wait for the mk2 n stinger.
Oh those will be fun repaints/updates.
@@LylesFigureFilesbetter ones IMHO, prob wont get the nok version just due to space
Thank you😺
Thank you for watching!
👍🏽 Jeff! I’m going to try and heat up the ammo belts, put them in place while still warm. Maybe the ammo box will sit more flush. If not sticky tack will take care of it. I love this vehicle. Can’t wait to get mine on Monday.👊🏽
I like that idea! It's the one thing that is even remotely a problem for me with it.
@@LylesFigureFiles I saw another comment online saying that the ammo boxes stay in place if you put them tight in the back corners of that little shelf on the turret
Just put the boxes on the shelf so that the ammo belts start in the middle of the shelf - that is, create a heart shape with them. They sit fine then
Cool set up with all the joes on there
Thank you! No way I wasn’t loading out my VAMP with Joes.
Best review so far on the vamp. I was hoping other reviewers would show how multiple figures can fit on the vamp. Good to know it can hold 5 or more figures.
Thank you! I always maxed out the space on my vehicles. That's why I always so confused with the cartoon when every Joe would drive a separate vehicle. Course now I realized it was just to sell toys, but it didn't make much practical sense to me then or now.
I’m kicking myself for not buying this, during preorder. I was thinking that there would be some available after pre order. But the bean counters… if it were positioned as a HasLab, I would have had the urgency to pre pay for it. (I purchased two Hiss Tanks during the HasLab as well as Two Dragon Flys (for perspective) hopefully they restock this unit 🤷🏾♂️ Your review is awesome, and I see that You are enjoying the hobby! Keep on keeping on!
Thanks so much for the kind words. It was a lot of fun breaking this bad boy out. And I really hope other collectors can get another crack at it.
There is a slot behind clutches head for the fire extinguisher
Hasbro hit it out of the park with this one especially at its price point. Originally I was staying away from the Classified line because I don't need another line to collect for but this set was too good to pass up. This my be my gateway drug into Classified because now I want the RAM Cycle only to find out I missed it :( I really hope the original RAM Cycle deco will be re-released, otherwise there is Evil-bay. I did back the Haslab Dragon Fly though. I can't wait for that to arrive. Thanks for the review. My VAMP should be arriving soon.
BTW, the flag is reversed because America never runs from a battle.
I didn't realize how much the RAM was going for now. Target was selling it for $16 at one point! Hope you enjoy the VAMP too!!
@@LylesFigureFilesThanks. $16!?!? Wow. :(
Got mine today. Totally worth $100. The Vamp is frigging sweet. Now bring on the Stinger.
Absolutely!! The stinger is gonna look so good!
Congratulations! I love mine
It's soooo much fun, isn't it?
What a treat! I really enjoyed this unboxing/review. I've only seen a couple of people review this already and I didn't even finish those videos, because they pretty much reviewed the figure and just talked briefly about the Vamp while it sat there in one position.
A few things, First, if you look at an official uniforms for military or first responders, whenever the American flag is on a right sleeve it is oriented that way. It's always stars forward to make it appear that the flag is flowing in the wind.
Second, DON'T GLUE THE AMMO BOXES!!! I'll send you a photo of how they lock in under the 50 cals. I snapped the extinguisher in the clip behind Clutch, although, I guess his shotgun, could go there. Your solution, does make the gas tanks fit more snug, however. The tanks rattling around loosely is my only super minuscule gripe. Where did you put his shotgun? I wedged it next to the passenger seat.
All in all, I LOVE this thing. I think the size is pretty perfect. I got so much joy and nostalgia opening it and putting everything together. I enjoyed doing the decals back in the day, but I know some people hate them. Now we need a towable, right? I'd get the MMS for sure, but I'd love a HAL to go with the Vamp.
Thanks man! This was a two-get for me! No way I was gloss over the VAMP!
Appreciate the clarification on the flag! I keep fiddling with those ammo boxes. Sure seems like there’s something I’m missing with it.
There’s a little space on Clutch’s left side that the shotgun grooves into and stays locked in so that worked for me 😊
I always had the MOBAT towing the HAL since I imagined that being too heavy for the VAMP. I want the MMS first so we can get Col. Hawk!
good review bro
hello from Quebec, French Canadian here,
I ll say I saw many vamp reviews before, but it s worth watching your joy of getting it man, D
fyi, I might not get one here, $120 tx in perhaps? so lucky you
the main pic brought me here, as you loaded the vamp with so many agents, D
ah man, each of you guys get a great personal shot!
these are exactly the guys I wanted to see next to the vamp,
I m an early 82 adopter, man, this brings me back, sigh...
I loved to see Stalker standing up next to Clutch in the vamp
shooting rows of supremacist fanatic blue troops, D
gi Joe is theeeeere!
you must know about the extinguisher...
aside from the mag wheels, which were better on the og,
everything else is greatly improved
I especially appreciate the working winch and hooks
it s best to knock out doors with the winch to bust Cobra bunkers, D
it s only afterwards that you tie them up together with the cable...
my version had no cables on the turret
it was obviously rc controlled, one comic showed a remote control in hand
but even before that, by myself, I could see no place a guy could stand to shoot and live to tell...
on principle, an all terrain vehicle will go where there s bumps, a lot, and with Clutch too, D
soooo, no way I d be tricked to hang there for a sec bro
oh yeah! Stalker and Snake, they won t go far hanging like that, but it looks fab! D
well, you sell my case for Hasbro to sell loose rams
I ll never put more than 2 guys with the vamp man, never did
the answer is more rams and jet packs, like in 82....
still, it s fun to see other guys see it differently
I like my story to be [tv] mission impossible, A - team inspired
realistic, but 13+, and the vamp will go off road
so now you know...
good show bro
Thanks so much my friend! Yep, I started collecting right when they started so I've got special love for the original crew. They have not disappointed.
Did you read the comic back in the day too? They used to pile in the VAMP a lot back in the early issues. How many RAMs did you get?
@@LylesFigureFiles yes I did, and yeah, the comics were not always realistic, D, had one in the 80s [13], did nt have time to get more $, but now, I got Breaker coming, and sure d want the new nightforce Shockwave, did nt like blue, but he s coming grey urban camo now, and that fits my palette so much more, loose, I get up to 4 now thanks bro
If you stand up the ammo cans [where the floor is where the bullets come out towards the sides] they latch into place on that middle square.
Thank you! I was able to try that and it did work!
I am trying to figure out where or what the middle square is. 😂
Word correction.... the Ammo cans sit upright in the cradle tray theres a indentation to hold them in place not shown in the directions!!!
Good video. This thing really ended up being way more sturdy and heavy than I was expecting. I’m ready for that Stinger already. Also the flag is that way cause the U.S. marches into battle so the flag is flying that way.
Thank you! It really does have a nice heft to it. And I can definitely see grabbing the Stinger if it's this price point and quality!
Mine arrived yesterday.
I've always loved the joe vehicles when they first came out and still do. I just wish i had space for them. I really want to get the trouble bubble because its small, but i dont like the one target has on sale
Yeah, the Python Patrol colors are an acquired taste.
The backwards flags are legit. It is the same on tail flashes and uniform patches. Think of it like this: the flag is flying towards the opposition
Yup these colors don't run
I don't and won't collect any 6" lines but I'm just really happy for those who do and to see the excitement generated in the line itself that arguably hasn't been seen since the 30th Ann. 4" line. Hopefully one day the success of Classified will regenerate a 4" line, even in a very limited capacity but at any rate it's just awesome to see GI Joe talked about regularly..
Those 30th anniversary figures were awesome. Did you get the updates Retros of Stalker, Grunt and the Cobra Trooper? Those were really well done.
@@LylesFigureFiles yes I did get those retro collection figures and was definitely impressed with all of them. Grunt was really well done, and the Troopers are nice and of course loves the extra weapons. Wish they'd bring those back too.
@@guywillis1281 They were so well done! I'd love to see them again!
Good review by the way,
Thank you, Todd! Had a lot of fun with it. I definitely need to do a double pin on the ammo boxes and the flag. Lot of comments helping me out with them!
Clutch has the same mould as Rock n' Roll. Any height difference is based their heads! The flag on Clutch's shoulder is backwards on purpose. There's a tradition of making sure that the stars part of the US flag always goes into battle "head"first.
The VAMP is going to be such an awesome addition to compliment the Dragonfly when it arrives. I love this line.
This makes me want the Dragonfly so much more now! 🙂
Nice review.
Thanks so much! Had a lot of fun with that one!
Great figure and vehicle! Thanks for this in-depth look at this set. 👏👏👏 Btw, the flag is always reversed when printed on the right side of clothing or a vehicle. If the flag were on a pole it would appear that way in a charge forward. This is done so that the flag never appears to be in retreat (unless the person walks backwards??? 😂)
Thanks for watching! That flag thing is interesting. So no retreating even if it’s tactically smarter?
@@LylesFigureFiles Lol, I guess it's more of a visual/psychological effect, so even if they turn and run in retreat, the flag itself is still moving forward.
got my VAMP & Clutch yesterday. It's an awesome set! I never had the original toy but this more than made up for it. The VAMP is bigger than I thought it would be and comes with a ton of detail, parts, and great decoration in lieu of stickers. The build quality and heft of the vehicle is very impressive. All in all this is a fun collectors item. Wish the price was about $20 or $25 less than the $100 tag, but I'm OK with it.
Minor nitpicks: gummy plastic for the Clutch's shot gun and helmet, VAMP wheels are a little wobbly but secure, no posts to secure ammo cans on turret shelf.
Over-thinking a fictional military toy: why would they put two .50 caliber machine guns over the driver/passenger seats? You'd be deaf after the first volley of rounds downrange and the shockwave generated from the rounds leaving the barrels will shatter your teeth!
I definitely look at this like we’re getting the VAMP for $75. Like Cover Girl I’d pay for the vehicle with the driver so paying together is simpler for me.
When you put the magazine boxes on the shelf, you had the ammo belts on the outside. Turn the boxes around so the ammo belts are in the middle of the shelf, and the boxes will sit flat and snug.
In other words, make the ammo belts create a heart shape.
Thank you. It seems like I have it wedged in there properly now!
Is this going to show up in stores or online only?
Pulse exclusive
Something has been bothering me about the fact that Clutch comes with a shotgun but I couldn't figure out what it was until this review. It requires two hands to fire and reload. He can't hold it out the window/door and shoot while driving (unless he can reload one-handed Sarah Connor-style, but that would be really awkward). I thinj I'm going to give Clutch Airborne's submachine gun, since I'm giving Airborne Mutt's assault rifle.
Great review, as always! Can't wait to get my M.P.A.V. on Monday.
Thanks so much Ryan!
I'm looking forward to Airborne...and Mutt...I'm getting behind and not loving it ;-)
LOL -- I'm not weirdly confused why they just didn't rearrange the phrasing to match up with VAMP.
This will make for easy Dreadknok repaints, such as the 4x4 & ram cycle Dreadknok Sears set! Considering, Classified Dreadknoks don't have any vehicles yet.
We’ve gotta get the Thunder Machine as our first Dreadnok vehicle though, right?
@@LylesFigureFiles Definitely!! I don't think it has to be a Haslab either.
The Ammo cans sit upright in the tray cradle there's a small indentation for the to plug into and hold them in place!!! Not shown in the directions 😮🥴
I have some QC issues with my figure, his neck peg was broken...
That's not good. Think there's any way you can fix it?
@@LylesFigureFiles no, it must have been defective
My only gripe with the joe line is that they should include the C grip hands. Looks strange holding a knife or the other end of the gun with another trigger hand
Maybe just swappable hands?
Really glad we got a decent vehicle without paying haslab prices. I'm sure we'll get a cobra version. and a tigerforce. and a nightforce. but this will probably be the only one i get. (glad to have the plastic windows BAck!)
I will most likely get the Stinger and maybe Mark II. This one was the priority for me!
You ordered it on your birthday, I received mine on my birthday. 😂
Niiice! It's going to be a heck of a birthday present. Happy belated BTW!
@@LylesFigureFiles thank you 🙏
There's a hook behind the seats where the extinguisher goes.
Yep. I added it in the note section that I missed it while doing the video 🙂
Need the mobat now and the snow mobile.
Yes! There's not too many vehicles that I wouldn't want in all fairness.
I gotta say when I opened that shipper box and saw the V.A.M.P. I was like My my My this thing is a thing of beauty I got disagree with you if Hawk is coming along he’s riding shot gun I saw notification it was out for delivery when I saw that FedEx truck in my neighborhood I was waiting with anticipation and I was not disappointed this thing is special. I think Hasbro should do something with Ertl the Model Company to do 1:12 model kits where we can build are own Mauler, Wolverines, Rattlers, Skyhawks etc. so we could deck out and decal to the way we like
So what did you think when you opened yours? I'll put Col. Hawk in there with him, but I can't put Gen. Hawk in the VAMP ;-)
@@LylesFigureFiles it could have been a smidge bigger but it’s still dam nice though.
Pointy end first on those belt fed 50 calibers
Ah-ha! Thanks!
Clutch's flag isn't reversed. The Star's lead the flag. Imagine you have a flag on a pole moving in the wind. It's something the Hasbro team got correct to the U.S. Army. I'm glad you're enjoying your Vamp. I'm digging it too.
It's such a fun vehicle!
This is an amazing toy and really begs the question: Why was the Ghost Rider car $350?
Great question. The lights couldn't have cost that much, could they?
The fire extinguisher goes behind the head rest, and the pointy end of the bullets go to the front of the guns.
Just saying.
I had almost no issues with the Vamp. Ammo cans not being clipped down was annoying. Other than that I love it.
The ammo cans were really my only issue. Such a great vehicle!
@@LylesFigureFiles Update, watch a bunch of other people. None of us had the ammo can orientation right according to the instructions. Which btw are vague as hell. But if you rotate the cans with the belt facing inwards and place them on the platform under the barrels they stay better. still does not excuse having clips missing.
Hopefully the HASLAB this year will be the Rattler and the Stinger jeep will Hopefully be coming this year as well. I would be the happiest man if that all comes this year.
I'd love to get The Rattler this year...for next year ;-)
@LylesFigureFiles Amen brother...Amen
Great review!! #Vampspam
:-)
Thank you!
I would be more excited if it ever shows up around here.
You ordered it and it still hasn't arrived? It's not coming to stores.
just getting back into line hoping Hasbro restocks this
I hope so. This is definitely something that should get a re-release for folks who initially missed out.
If you can afford it ....And have the room .I was gonna buy the 1st order tie and realized I don't have the room ...Solider s Xmen and valverse creeping up on my bed .
Should have mine by the time u get home from work
Nice!
I'm still annoyed that they said this was gonna be available at retail, but then they released it as a Pulse exclusive.
I don't remember them ever saying this was for retail.
@@LylesFigureFiles Right back when it was first revealed. That's why I was excited about it..
When the Flight Pod came out, everybody was complaining that all the vehicles were exclusives, and they said that their upcoming vehicles would be small enough to be available at retail.
“Room 112,
where the playas dwell …”
😄Always dig when folks catch my music/movie references.
Respect!!
Mine is “out for delivery” this a.m.!!
The Kevin Samuels of action figure reviews... well I'll be... lol... just love seeing I'm not the only brother collecting action figures...
Not at all.
Only flaws is like all classified vehicles it is a bit under scaled lager figures like roadblock , gung ho and sgt slaughter don’t fit in it, even clutch is a real snug fit other problem is the guns on the back really make no real logic sense there is no real way for a character to fire them……🤷🏻 but it looks cool……that aside I am very happy either way mine and it was totally worth the price
Outside of re-enacting issue #22 and 23, I probably won't have Roadblock around the VAMP much at all.
The ammo boxes should be sitting the tall way, it looks like u have them short way
Thanks! I've got it fixed now.
That helmet looks like a ninja turtle
Which version of the turtles?

Appreciate you helping the algorithm!
@@LylesFigureFiles always

Sorry you don't like it.
Honestly it’s not. For 50-75$ I would be content.
The figure alone would be $25 though. I think the price point is pretty close, jmo.
Did you end up skipping it?
@@LylesFigureFiles I actually purchased one for myself and my son. After assembling and playing with it. I decided I didn’t see the value. I think a 75$ price point would have been correct. But I also don’t think the Haslab sentinel was worth the price either.
HOW MUCH IS THAT PLASTIC CHEAP BASTARD?🤔 OVER $40 AIN'T WORTH IT. 🤬
You think the VAMP should have been $40?
@@LylesFigureFiles Nah. But plastic junk ain't worth $100, either. ✌️ I could've made that plastic piece of crap. Where's the unrustable metal. Solid metal body. Real rubber tires. A Real American Hero shrunk down to an atom, or two to drive the thing.
Look for the price, I want more.
