Bruce MacAllan Hey, Allan MacBruce, I was thinking that the bagpipes should be used in symphonies and such. The ability to hold a note for so long and such a saucy sound really appeals to me. Can I be an honorary Scotman? I think that Robert the Bruce would approve. My middle name is Alan; does that count. (;->)

It is not a musical instrument; it is a weapon of war! Seriously, I've not a drop of Scot blood in me, (Though a wee pint or two of Irish & Welsh) but the pipes can stir my soul to battle, or tears with a good pibroch or Amazing Grace.

    • @MatteoMi

It's not underrated, it's just limited: one note for drones and 9 notes from the chanter. Its irish cousin (the Uilleann pipe) is a lot more popular thanks to its chromatic scale.
