This game is THE best game ever. Period. There is no game in the world that can compete with this game's depth, characters, freedom, level of challenge and tactical possibilities.
This should have been used in the trailer for BG3, at the beginning of some battle... starting from the drumroll at 0:16 so that people would suddenly realize they are watching baldurs gate 3 trailer.
Having finished over 150 games, Baldur's Gate 2 is in my opinion still the best and most memorable and this theme never fails to give me goosebumps. If you didn't cheese it, the difficulty was just right. The companions (Minsc, Jan, etc.) were some of the most memorable characters in gaming. Even the romances were tasteful (My god, you mean sex ISN'T the ultimate goal in a relationship?). I got teary at the epilogues. One of the pinnacles of gaming. "Ah, the Child of Bhaal has awoken..."
still haven't found game better than this...few times started it over, simply can't get it out of my head...story, gameplay...today's games may look much better but game expirience is far beyond this
I love this so much.. Me and my friend just had an argument on whether classical music is better that this. Classics are generally accepted to be the exemplars of music itself, yet I would prefer Baldur's Gate 2 or Arcanum or Morrowind themes to almost any of the classical ones. A melody doesn't have to be complex to be beautiful, which is the case here.
Baldur's Gate -series blew my mind back in the days and it still does O.o The dialogue, characters, plot, combat, MUSIC... Hell, bloody everything was fantastic.
Just got the urge to play the game and it's expansion again after so many year, so I bought EE and I gotta say when the main theme blasted from the speakers I felt a tingle in my spine, almost felt like tearing up.. it was that feeling of meeting an old friend after long years!

Got to the character creator screen right about where the main theme is done and 0:52 kicks off on loop... Gave me 'the feelz' xD. I'll be taking this game with me to the grave just incase there's an afterlife with functioning desktop PCs....
Baldur's Gate II was one of those rare sequels that was actually better than the first game! Black Isle and Bioware really outdid themselves with this gem!
Meh, I was raised on "new" RPGs, but I wish modern RPGs were actual RPGs, and not those so called "Action RPGs" or "New style RPGs". The gameplay is just incomparable, then it was tactical and engaging, now it's button mashing. Just look at Baldur's Gate, KOTOR, Neverwinter Nights and then at Dragon Age, Skyrim or even The Witcher 2 (which was excellent in every aspect, aside from gameplay).
War... War never changes... I would also mention Mass Effect series... even though enging was kind of crappy :D on the other hand, one of most important "RP factors" is immersion. So, right after Fallouts, BGs, KotORs and MEs comes DeusEx, or System Shock 2... and finally... a game, where you eat and grow fat, visit a gym to build up muscle, ocassionally date some girls, participate in many "side quest" activities, like burglary or firefighting... and more... game that has interesting and funny main storyline... so, yes, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is, in some way, quite complex RPG game :D
Yeah, San Andreas was surprisingly complex and all those activities were actually fun there. Never tried Deus Ex or system chock. I'm not too fond of that cyberpunk atmosphere and the graphics are kinda off to me. (I'm not graphics whore, but I just can't bear early 3d graphics. I preffer 2d graphicss to them). Buut I guess I should at least give them a try sometime in the future.
So Baldurs Gate 3 could have used a little more inspiration from this song, BG2 music score is darker, but yet heroic. The score for BG3 is good, but I think it is a little too light hearted.
They tried to re-create the music in the menu with BG III but its just not the same. I dont think any game will be able to surpass BG II theme (at least in my eyes).
Hah, says a guy who cant appreciate what came before 😂....Baldur's Gate 3 is great game, but lot of of us had wished that its soundtrack would have been more in line with previous games, especially the theme.
All RPG's that are made with love and devotion to the details, extra quests, bonus stuff, a lot to do aside the main story and with heart and soul ARE ALL the BEST RPG of ALL TIMES ;D Riddle solved ^^
20 years past and it is still the best main theme ever.

Such a pleasure to spend minutes and minutes (hours in total) while creating your character while listening to this :)
The best game ever created.
ABSOLUTNIE KURWA
Baldure's gate is everything epic and amazing in RPG, it is still the greatest story for computer based RPG gaming of all time, the entire BG series.
This game will bring tears to your eyes. Words can't describe how amazing it is.
The BG 2 : Throne of Bhaal theme is also awesome.
It's today guys. Today.
Remember the first time I launched this game and this music started. I could tell that this was going to be a fantastic game. I was not dissapointed!
I bought the steam enhanced edition, just had to replay this game but I lost my cd's. Playing kensai/mage dual class
+Ruslakall Do.... do you even need a party with that? Just go get Viconia and do the whole thing as a couple...
+Saeyabor Nope, that's the idea
0:00 when you get caught secretly filming your friend doing an embarrassing dare in public

Baldur's Gate II was one of those rare sequels that was actually better than the first game! Black Isle and Bioware really outdid themselves with this gem!
Baldur's gate 3 OST doesn't even come close to this masterpiece.
This ain't it chief
I heard it, it's your average fantasy generic crap. Not much better than stock music, and it could have been composed by an AI algorithm.
@wjwjjri 8 months me doesn't care about your opinion, today me says: "fuck off mate"
2020 this song is in my heart
Meh, I was raised on "new" RPGs, but I wish modern RPGs were actual RPGs, and not those so called "Action RPGs" or "New style RPGs". The gameplay is just incomparable, then it was tactical and engaging, now it's button mashing.
Just look at Baldur's Gate, KOTOR, Neverwinter Nights and then at Dragon Age, Skyrim or even The Witcher 2 (which was excellent in every aspect, aside from gameplay).
I think Dragon Age Origins is also a very good game. But DA2 and DA:I are crap in my opinion
War... War never changes...
I would also mention Mass Effect series... even though enging was kind of crappy :D
on the other hand, one of most important "RP factors" is immersion.
I feel sorry for you... My condolences. Please go buy BG2 on steam.
HTakara82 Pillars is the spiritual successor to BG2 though
I'm not ready for these feelings of nostalgia.... Sadness
See, Baldur's Gate 3 needs to take a page from it's elders and make their main menu theme this epic.
I calm down at the 0:52 part, almost involuntarily.
So Baldurs Gate 3 could have used a little more inspiration from this song, BG2 music score is darker, but yet heroic. The score for BG3 is good, but I think it is a little too light hearted.
Been playing the baldurs gate and Icewind dale games since i was 11 and still get the urge to install them again. Timeless classics!
They tried to re-create the music in the menu with BG III but its just not the same. I dont think any game will be able to surpass BG II theme (at least in my eyes).
I agree, feel the same.
No RPG I've ever played has ever come close to this or Icewind Dale. Icewind Dale and Baldurs gate are the best RPGs ever made.
Bunch of salty boomers in the comments 😂
Hah, says a guy who cant appreciate what came before 😂....Baldur's Gate 3 is great game, but lot of of us had wished that its soundtrack would have been more in line with previous games, especially the theme.
What does a zoomer here? You will infect this materpiece, get out here
You have a mandalorion pfp, so you clearly have awful taste
All RPG's that are made with love and devotion to the details, extra quests, bonus stuff, a lot to do aside the main story and with heart and soul ARE ALL the BEST RPG of ALL TIMES ;D
Riddle solved ^^
