    That is an insane amount of work, I cannot even imagine the labour cost. I removed my soul red cover, replaced the entire mirror for £60 that came off a wrecked mazda 6 tourer that I was able to confirm worked. Just to prepare for future issues, I bought a second one. The thought of gutting everything for a motor that has no resolve when it comes to inclemate weather is just a step to far time wise. Cheers for the guide.

    Thanks for the great video. Unfortunately, I called my Mazda dealership, and the parts guy said they don't sell just the motor (or a motor repair kit). They only offered to sell me the mirror body, which they wanted $309 for.

    • @JB_Auto
      @JB_Auto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are not willing to help, not everyone does, and that repair kit is commonly used even if the warranty period has ended. Replacement of mirror body only when damaged, try another dealer.

    I had the same problem on my Mazda6, then I found this video on TH-cam where someone just sprayed WD-40 behind the mirror (glass bit) to lubricate the motor of the wing mirror. Dude kept turning the button on and off and helped the mirror fold and unfold with his hand. A few seconds later? .................. PROBLEM SOLVED! Give it a go before you start spending crazy money on a new one.

    Had a 2016.5 CX-5 Touring. Do you think can retrofit power folding mirror using this kit (GRY0-69-16ZC) and the GT control switch (KD3566350)? Are the wiring of a GT and Touring are the same?

      You can do it with a hair dryer, but it will take more time. Mazda has improved the sealing of the motor, not sprockets. I've seen those sprockets on that shopping platform, and it could be a good idea to try them.

    Use SILICONE WD40: it's vastly better than simple WD40. Spray behind the mirrors every month or so (depending on weather) and the mirrors will work forever. My early 2017 CX-5 has been perfect.

      You would need to add: disassemble the electric motors to clean sprockets from time to time. Also, do not use folding mirrors during wintertime. Then protect them just in case somebody pushes them passing by while on parking lot. Remember, those sprockets are fragile and plastic. I utilised silicone spray on my car, and yes, it extended life compared to other vehicles where lubrication hasn't been used.

    • @JB_Auto

      That's a good question, within five years of the warranty period, we replaced even two kits on some vehicles, that was caused by external mechanical damage, meaning if you push mirror and fold not using switch or RC, the sprockets may crack, they are made of plastic, some cases people are using mirrors when frozen.
