The mazda diesel mechanic experts in Japan advise to not run the car above 2500 rpm, let it accelerate slowly with the transmission this is the key to not accumulate soot inside the engine. Above 2500 rpm the soot accumlation exceeds the elemination capacity of the engine. There is an interview on youtube of one guy who rode 500'000km on the first gen 2012 2.2L diesel in a CX-5 without issues and need for engine clean ups but he did mostly highway drives and at under 2500 rpm. Also did engine oil changes at no more than 5000km interval
Okay, lets say this works for the manifold/ports. But what about the DPF issue, which has the exact opposite modus operandi. The engine should run at higher rpm, rather than lower - to help the dpf regenerate/burn off the soot inside..
Just had a DPF clean and regen plus full service.. Car drove great. Three weeks later DPF and EML back on. I'm sick of diesel at this stage.. I drive 200km daily and this still happened to my 2010 Mazda 6 diesel 2.2
Hi mate, what are the newer 2018 > engines like for carbon? I've a 2019 Mazda 6 184ps which also has adblue, are these any better than the earlier engines that have cam / carbon problems
Great work! Indeed this a dirty and time consuming task but certainly needed. On this engine once you open the valves on one cilinder all the other valves are closed so you can safely clean all remaining 6 ports. Have you tried some sort of cleaning liquid for the ultrasonic cleaner? Does it make any difference compared with boiled water?
You can get cleaning solutions for ultrasonic baths and yes, it should make a difference. Oil does not like to mix with water... a bit of chemical help is required.
Great video Mr NiceGuy are you a mechanic by trade as it very professional. If you are do you offer a cleaning service for the EGR and if you do where are you located in the UK as it seems quite dirt work
I am not a mechanic by trade. I have a garage in Lingfield, Surrey where I offer various services not just carbon cleaning 😉 So feel free to reach out if you would like to get yourself booked in. I do a quite lot of carbon cleanings. You can message me on my facebook page. Same username and profile pic as on here. Best Regards 😉
I just did my 2017 skyactiv 2.2 diesel mazda today, it stared OK but turbo boost is not working. I didn't check if the valves were closed so maybe I've clogged up the turbo with the carbon that feel inside during the cleaning? Now also DPF is showing as clogged up
Yeah, no offense but you messed up. Sometimes it's better to do nothing than not full understand and make it worse with stuff like this. Now all that carbon went into your engine.
The gaskets will all need to be replaced with new ones, or can the old ones be left?

What?. I thought it was the opposite for burning the carbon deposite.
