    A few clarifications after Monstertech reached out about a couple things in this review.
    The bit about scratches, apparently the "Scratches" are not scratches, but aluminium residue and can be cleaned off completely. Monstertech sells the cleaner in their shop here www.monstertech.de/en/product/anodizing-cleaner/ (To note, I've not verified this personally, just what was explained to me from Monstertech)

      Jabbers the cleaner works MARVELLOUSLY. I can attest that it will restore normal scratches and dents.

    Hey Jabbers, thanks for the detailed video! For anyone worrieng about the scratches, it is just aluminium residue and can be cleaned of completely. Anodizing on the profiles is extremely tough. We do have a anodizing cleaner in stock that we use in production everyday. Feedback is always super helpful and we will strive to improve some of the things you mentioned. Thanks Olsen

    I use both the standard and long mounts by monstertech. I’m very impressed with the excellent quality and I’m a very satisfied customer. The high quality quick release system is also a big plus. Because my flight pit is also my workspace I need to make room quite often, because of this system I’m able to remove/replace the throttle and stick very easily and in a safe manner. I agree price is quite high, but the quality is also...high. Thanks for the review.

    Jabbers,
    Thanks for the video, saw this some time ago and just got mine . Very nice. In regards to the scratching, there is a product that will probably help you with this. It's been thirty years since I've used it but you can probably still get it. It was suppled by a gunsmith tool supplying outfit here in the states. The name of the business is "Brownells". You should be able to find it, probably in with their blueing supples.
    It comes in a small bottle, can be applied with a Q tip, works instantly, can be applied without heating, isn't very expensive, and has no strong smell (although I guess that doesn't mean it's not toxic). Isn't everything toxic?
    It will not make your product look like new again, but it does a fair job of disguising the scratches.
    Take Care, Steve

    Your review was spot on. I also own some Monstertech clamps and the MFD attachments and I couldn't be happier with the products! They are well built and they work really well. My gripe is also with the shipping and handling price. I wish they would have a distributor here in the US instead of having it shipped all the way from Germany. I wanted to buy the optional mouse pad but I just don't want to pay for the S&H. Anyhow great review!

    I have wanted this kind of product for a long time, and with my desk setup I had to do modification to be able to use a HOTAS, albeit uncomfortably. As such, I have not taken advantage of my gear, of DCS, or Elite Dangerous as a result. But when I saw the price of these products with shipping, I changed my mind. I found a very similar solution on Amazon for two mounts that would cost me $100 less, BUT the mounting plates are universal! Which means my nearly faililng X55 can be replaced with almost any other throttle and I don't have to worry about ordering more plates.

    Good review. I've been using this desk mounting for 2 month (for my Warthog), and yes, it's very cool thing. And if Monstertech make something to cut delivery cost it'd the ideal deal.

    Great review mate, I totally agree with the shipping comments especially overseas shipping and then you get hit with import tax etc that's the biggest drawback when looking to buy flight sim gear.
    It's not the fault of any company, I'm sure they're trying to produce products at a reasonable price whilst also trying to pay their staff but it should be something they consider when it comes to pricing. Keep up the good work.

    • @mumblerinc.6660

      I don't really get the issue with shipping costs.
      We buy sticks and throttles, VR goggles, TrackIR and other peripherals for literally thousands of dollars without even factoring in the PCs. We buy EA modules for 80 dollars a piece despite still not having seen even one actually finished.
      But $50 in shipping costs to CONUS is where a surprising number of people draw the line? I mean, I'm seeing people in these comments who *I know* have insanely expensive gadgets like the RS force sensing base that costs ~$500 a piece, but still being so dramatic as to say "I can't afford paying $30 in shipping!"

    • @Bitchesgivehigh5s
      @Bitchesgivehigh5s 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mumblerinc.6660 Yeah, but charging 50$ for US Shipping and thats the only option is insane. 50$ for shipping on a 300/400$ piece of equipment is understandable. Even for shipping protection. I bought a set of Wheel spacers for my car. 10$ shipping. No reason for it.

    They are made of solid gold, judging by the price - like all good sim equipment. They are also way too bulky and permanent for my liking. I’d like a more easily removable, cheaper and lightweight version.

      My Pien mounts are rock solid, after all aluminum extrusion is aluminum extrusion no matter where you get it really. Same stuff 1/2 the cost or more like 1/4 the cost if you factor in shipping!

  • @85LARGE
    @85LARGE 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If you dont like the shipping price why dont you go to your town's aluminum extrusion profile manufacture and purchase directly the profiles from them for 5 times less the price. Then assemble them yourself. That is what I did. The clamp can be bought off ebay.

    At 5:00 - is that the standard mount with your cm2 base and a short extension? The long version seems like it might be overkill for less than 200mm extensions - is that incorrect? Thanks in advance!

  • @davedice4688
    @davedice4688 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    What’s the S extension you’re using for your VFX grip? I’m hoping the shipping comes down when this US warehouse opens, because it’s ridiculous right now. For example, I placed a 90 cent profile cap cover in my cart and it was $40 to ship today. That’s robbery.

    If i had a keyboard drawer (for an actual piano) under my desk and wanted to place one of these mounts in front of it, how much room would I need to be able to use the clamp at a minimum? I'm hoping I can get away without needing to extend the clamp out towards the wall all the way.

    I would be all in on Monstertech with their products IF they had a stocking distributor in North America. Heck I would love to be that distributor for them in North America; I have experience as a stocking distributor of various items in the past and would be willing to do it. Also I would toss in the allen wrenches as well if I was running the company. Having to buy a set of allen wrenches is ridiculous as well.
