Already a refreshing honesty. So many people justify their choice of camera with their knowledge of specs. Whereas you have the courage to simply say you want the camera because of the idea of the camera.

    •  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hi Matt! Thank you for watching and commenting. Yes, I guess most people justify getting a camera for the specs, but I think it's mostly internal desire in the end. You want a camera not because you actually need it but because it's cool.

for what it's worth, i ordered a new black X100V for $1400 from Adorama on 27 September 2022. It was on back-order of course. It arrived at my house on 22 November 2022. It is not necessary to pay a $600 mark-up to some crook on eBay and you don't have to buy an older model (unless that's what you want). The X100V can be bought at list price if you're patient.

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

Hey Mike! Thanks for watching and commenting. Maybe in the US but here in Italy is difficult to find a new version under 1500-1600€. How are you liking the X100V?

My wife sells Toyotas at a dealership that does not mark up prices. Currently, customers have to wait three months to receive their vehicles after making a deposit. Having to wait two or three months for the X100V is not too bad.

I shoot the XT3 and XPro2 professionally. My X100F literally goes with me everywhere, every day. I’m also enjoying my slow XE1 with a manual lens because of the Xtrans 1 sensor and how it renders colors. Nice video, glad to see the X100F getting some love because it’s still a great camera.

I fell in love with the X100F years ago but I didn't have the money at the time, and recently I was looking to buy the X100V and I couldn't justify such expense, so I decided to pull the trigger on a used X100F and man, I couldn't be happier with the desition, it comes with me wherever I go, the image quality is great and I saved a ton of money. I used to shoot with a Fujifilm X-T100 and I upgraded to a Sony a7iii and the size difference really made a huge difference and most of the time I couldn't even be bothered taking the camera out with me, since I got the X100F that problem is solved and photography has become way more fun and simpler, I absolutely love this camera!

When i bought The X100F everything changed. I was a Canon user and I also used Lumix for video. I fell in love with fuji so I sold everithing, X100F included, and passed to Fuji XT3 with my most used 35mm 0.95 lens, The 16-55 2.8 and The 23mm 2. A few years passed and I knew that I missed my best camera. The X100V is on The plan, But a you said is quite untraceable. You got a great camera rares! Keep it❤

EDC for its size and backup of more "pro" cameras. It's excellent for street, will do landscape, portraits, family, and vacation. All around'er, imho. F2 is outstanding for most work. Waterproof helps a lot and the size doesn't scare people.

This video hit different. I recently fell in love with the Fuji line of cameras and am excitedly waiting on the arrival of the XE1 I ordered a few days ago and I couldn’t put my finger on why the thought of my new camera made me feel like I wanted to go shooting and why I don’t get that feeling from my work canon eosR. And you answered that question. It’s because that camera has become just about work and about needing the best specs or the best photo for a client and became less about the love of photos. It became clinical rather than fun. Love the content it so nice to hear someone who feels the same and can relate 👍

It's a weird thing but what made me choose a fuji as my 1st camera is the massive plus point that a large majority of the cameras made in the past few years all come with the same sensor. From the flag ship to midrange and you don't feel like you're getting less and you're always confident that it's not the cameras fault you took a bad photo and you can really see your improvement when you learn.

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Julian! It is so true, you basically get the same image quality with different advantages and disadvantages in every camera. I wonder how the new X-E5 and the new X100 will look like...

Nice video and I totally get your points. I'm having a really hard time deciding should I go for one (X100 or maybe XE3 or XE4), as the thing I love the most about it is the form factor and the thing that I would probably take it more with me for casual situations than the stuff I have. My work cameras were eos 6D/eos R, which then got upgraded to R/R6 mk2, I love shooting primes 35/50, wide aperture, and I absolutely love my cameras, BUT they're big and cumbersome! I sometimes take the plastic 50 1.8 with me even though 50 1.2 is such an amazing thing, only to have a less attention seeking camera in my hand when taking casual street shots. Also, I fear that the shots with Fuji would be way less ideal than the mighty R6 setup so I should just forget about the size issue and take the big beast everywhere with me but the Fuji bug just never leaves my mind. :)

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, I feel you. When you get the fuji bug it's hard to get back ahah Anyway probably you should go with a more recent fujifilm otherwise you'll feel the difference too much coming from an R6mk2. Probably the XE4 is the best choice in this case. It has quite a lot of features in both video and photo modes.

I was thinking about the x100v or any of the older models, but I could not justify the price they go for these days. So I got the xf23mm f2 for my Xe-2 instead. Perfectly happy with that setup for my needs.

I’m like this, I use the canon r6 and various lenses for work stuff. Then the Fuji x100v is for fun, I call it the Fuji fun…. And I’m with you on my previous cameras some aspects of them I miss, like the reward of getting a good picture out of it from challenging focusing. I was set to purchase the X100V just weeks before the pandemic started, in 2019. I was going to purchase it new, but found a new, used 100V on FB, offered to me for $900 by the seller. However, I was asking too many questions about the camera and the seller got upset and sold it to someone else, instead, lol. Yes, I did not buy it. A couple of days later, a used, almost unused X100F came into my path in the same FB Marketplace, and was able to purchase it for $585, including 3 Fuji batteries, a leather half case, 256G Lexar SD card, a square and a round hood, 2 mist filters, extended grip, red shutter release button, thumb rest, and a handshake. I couldn't be happier. Love this camera and I enjoy shooting with it. It is the camera with me all the time, wherever I go, just like my regular CP.

I keep hearing that the X100V is out of stock or hard to find but here in Australia there still seems to many available in stores or major online retailers. Even heavily discounted last week with Black Friday sales I could get either X100V or X-Pro 3 for the same price from a major camera store AU$1,930 which is €1,250. But you look on eBay and people are asking stupid prices 2nd when you can easily buy new in store cheaper with warranty 🤷‍♂️
6 mths ago I bought an old X-E1 so cheap and put on the ‘pancake’ XF 18mm f2. Like your X100F it’s my go everywhere camera. Slower and clunkier than my more recent Fuji but I live the vibe it gives. It’s also not rugged or have the great ergonomics of my big Pentax K-1 but that’s not the point of this retro design. Great images but it’s the pleasure from the simple things it gives. No complexity. One lens no decisions about focal length - just frame and shoot

Great summary Rares. I have had the x100F for a while then bought the X100V earlier this year. To be honest they both take great pictures and the improvements in the X100V are not really game changers. AF has not improved, new lens is good but I never shoot wide open close up anyways.

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

The AF has not improved at all? I don't shoot wide open either. I mostly shoot around F4 with the X100F. I guess it makes sense to make the switch if you know you're going to need the weather sealing. Thanks for watching and commenting, Dave.

do you think the x100f would be a good starting camera?

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

Honestly I think you should get a camera with interchangeable lenses. Any of the X-T lineup or X-E with a kit lens so you're not limited to 23mm. You could sstart with the X100F but it can get frustrating when you only have one lens and cannot change it. Probably I would start with the X-T3 or X-T2 or even a X-S10 or X-E4

Camera straps for 10 hour days and you won’t get hand pains😂

I've been using the x100t for 5 to 6 years, can't keep track! The battery life on mine is shit so I carry an extra 5 batteries just incase. Focus is garbage so I distance focus lock to avoid any non sense. Great line of cameras but not perfect 🤣

    •  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Totally agree with you. Although the battery life on the X100F is pretty good. The line has it flaws but in the end no camera is perfect. Or better there's cameras and lenses which are perfect for an individual in a given period of time in their life.

@ been shooting for 17 years, and find my self really preferring to shoot at a 50 to 75mm full frame distance than a 35mm or wider. I like getting peoples faces more then composition around them. I feel like wider only works well for me in crowds where you can easily get right up to them and get the shot which isn't normally the case in Chicago. Really want to get my hands onto the xt series or at the very least get the 50mm adapter for the x100

That's a great camera! I unfortunately, don't really like it particularly but I can totally understand why people like it. The most important thing is that you like shooting with your camera.

just buying xt20+35mm xc is the better choice.

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

Really? Is it pocketable? Maybe wit the 27mm pancake?

    • @ThanhThanh-it1pm
      @ThanhThanh-it1pm ปีที่แล้ว

      @size comparison: x100v: 128 x 75 x 53mm. xt20: 118 x 83 x 41mm. Xt20 is lighter than x100v. .478 g vs 383 g.
they both isn't pocketable lol. but It's much cheaper.
if you want smaller size 27mm pancake is good ideal.

Interesting video! In this moment the X100V is listed more than 1800. Euro on Amazon Italy.. and it is absurd.
You gave me some good infos. Thank you🙏
Obviously I subscribed to your channel. I am a fellow youtuber with my own small channel and I really know how important may be to have new subscriptions . And it is also nice to help each other especially when we are fellow TH-camrs.
Hope to watch more contents from you 🙏

honeslty starting to think people are just making these videos on the 100v for views... you cant tell me its coincidence that literally every youtuber photographer just randomly started wanting or praising the 100v or 100 series its like the M6 of digital right now

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

Hey Key! I guess you're right, the X100V is on trend right now amongst street photographers and on TH-cam people make videos on their experiences so that other people can get more information about it. They do it for the likes, views and subs and because (maybe) they like making videos and talking about cameras. At least I do it because all of the above reasons.

    2 xt4? Why not 10? Wtf

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

Why not? You see, when you shoot events you need two bodies especially if you shoot primes. I have an 85 on one and a 23 on the other so I can shoot both envirnmental shots and portraits. I also sometime mount one of the xt4s on the gimbal to shoot videos while shooting photos with the other. If I didn't do it as a job I think one camera would be more than enough. What about you? What camera do you have?
