  • We spent one month in Spain and this is how mush is cost to live for one month in Spain and you get an Airbnb tour! We were not happy with our Airbnb and so ended up leaving. This certainly drove up our cost of living this month! We switched Airbnbs, spent extra money on accomodations and travel because of this, but we were happy that we made the change even though we totally blew our budget! We hope you enjoy the tour of the "new" Airbnb we found and loved! We also get real about how much this change of plans cost us and we share wit you the reality of travel - it does not always go as planned, but that is all part of the adventure. We always try to remain positive, keep our sense of humour and keep the mindset that things happen for a reason. In our case, we feel that we were meant to explore another part of Spain and we feel blessed that we could take it all in stride and that we have all the time in the world to regroup, change course and carry on. Our travel "stresses" usually become funny stories a few days later!! Thank you so much for watching! We are off to a totally different part of the world after this final video in our Spain series, so we hope you are subscribed, so you can follow us along on our next adventure! Cheers! 🥂

Priority Pass have three levels of membership. Long time since I used them. Some of the lounges they use can be smaller than airline lounges. Enjoy your time in Asia.

Is that the one through MasterCard? We do have LoungeKey with the WestJet MC we have, but it is discounted rate. Also, we have used the Smart Traveller App/membership to get discounts to lounges in most airports. I think we will definitely look into Amex when we are back. Always learning.... And, Thank you!! We are loving Vietnam!!

Loved the comment about the dishcloth! I carry a kitchen container with me whenever we go long term. It’s a round ziploc container for a dishcloth, scrub daddy, spice mixes I make at home and a small dollarstore knife sharpener. I can’t stand using the Airbnb stinky dish sponges! Cheers!

We now have dishcloths and dish towels (as these are not always a thing in Vietnam it turns out lol). Also now a lovely garlic/multiuse grater plate from Portugal and a corkscrew (but not sure if the airline will let that one through! Lmao) we travel carry on only, so the extra items have to be very important! lol.

@@mitchandjan The carry on space is prized real estate for us too! I’d rather take one less pair of socks than not take that knife sharpener!

Lolol!! True enough!! But you also have to hope that there is a decent enough knife to even sharpen. We just went knife shopping today…hard to cut much with only a paring knife in the drawer!! 😂

@@mitchandjan we certainly are! Our youngest son and daughter in law (and bubby girl baking which we will miss meeting as due just after we leave 😢) are moving into our house which is great as we will have a bedroom to go home to for a couple of weeks every 5 1/2 months and to store a few things we can’t part with. We are busy clearing out the house for them to move in and sorting everything. Been selling our things for a year now which has been great so now just on the tail end of that. Hubby retires in 4 weeks today and we head off in just under 8 weeks. We’ve done lots but still feel there is plenty to do but we’ll get there.

We were in Spain in January! Very nice during the day, usually a little cooler at night. It was lovely! So sunny on the Costa Blanca coast!

Airbnb has some stunning places and a few duds unfortunately. This place is quite roomy and well furnished. Nice find!

Thanks! It was the perfect size! And yes, we expected to run across an Airbnb we didn’t like, just not this early in our travels. Haha!

Watching you from Tillsonburg, Ontario. Enjoying your tips. What is the cell phone plan you were talking about around 20:00? Enjoy your travels.

Well hello! Thanks for watching! The $20 plan we talked about is actually a Skype subscription (like remember the original video messaging service from a decade ago LOL - well it is still alive!). So it is essentially an app. We are given a US phone number (Canadian #s are not available). With this number ou are able to call the US for free and also Canadian 1-800/1-888 (toll free) numbers. We can also receive calls for free. We found this was necessary because we ran into two-step athentication issues when travelling (where Visa wants to send you a one time code to your Canadian cell phone number). The expense of keeping a Canadian number and then paying the international roaming fees to receive a text, is infuriating LOL. So this has been our work around. It does not work to call regular canadian numbers, its only real purpose is for us to be able to call Visa or banks or other helpful 1-800 numbers if we run into issues trying to use our credit cards when making online purchases (like airline tickets) when we are abroad. To get around the Verified by Visa issue, for example, we called Visa, answered many security questions and then they remained on the phone with us as we completed purchases. We have had to do this a handful of times already in our 3 and a half months travelling. I hope this helps explain what we have the Skype number for. We will be looking into other alternatives when we are back in Canada (like a cheap cell phone plan that can receive international texts, because really THAT is what we need to receive the verification codes!!)
