    I wanna note that while as you said it doesnt massivly matter what oath you start with if you intend to break it anyways, it is worth noting that Oath of Devotion and Oath of the Ancients are easier to break by just doing something "bad". On the other hand Oath of Vengence can be broken by saving the goblin at the druids grove, so it doesnt require you to be as "evil" to break it, incase that matters to you.

      I broke mine by killing the tieflings that captured Laezael tried to trick them into leaving failed my roll. Had to pick a side. I needed Laezael and she helped me back on the ship. So I killed them having no other choice. Killing Laezael wasn't justified either because well she had helped me earlier and vengence requires righteous cause. So either way my dark urge character was like screw it.

      Evil doesn't take sides between lesser or greater evils, Fiends and Undead are categorically evil, blackguard is the mortal champion of said evil.
      Dark powers come at a cost. Both are evil and sometimes evil doesn't play nice or play fair.

    I just got aura of hate on my oathbreaker and stopped playing him until they patch it. Right now it only effects melee weapons and not melee attacks, so even though the slam attack from a zombie does not count as an unarmed attack in tabletop or BG3, it does not get a boost from aura of hate, which it should. This also includes ghoul claws, mummy slam, and spore zombie slam. In other words, aura of hate does not effect ANY undead in the game save for a few that you have to successfully charm and none of them that you can summon. Considering my group is built around a 20 cha oathbreaker/warlock and a spore druid, this is a huge hit.

    Oathbreaker by itself is not as great as it should be. Multiclass into Warlock (Blade) and/or War Cleric and you do 3-4 attacks per turn, and do bonkers damage, because BOTH str and cha feed into your melee attacks. Absolutely amazing and fun, with only downside being that you have to long rest almost every bigger fight. Have Karlach as a Wild Magic barb to recover some of your slots, to keep yourself a bit longer from having to long rest between fights.
    Try Oathbreker (6 lvls) + Eldritch Warlock with Blade pact (5lvls) and 1 level to War Cleric to get another Extra attack.

      It's funny. We had the exact opposite feeling when I played with my mates. One of them was an Oath of Vengeance, and another was an overly aggressive thief that would leave NOTHING either plundered or murdered. The paladin commented multiple times on his amazement that the thief never managed to be the cause of a broken oath. That thing just would not break, but then again, he wasn't actively trying to break it.

    This is the best video. I’ve been searching for this kind of video a month ago, when I bought the game, but I had to simply not play the game for entire month because I was pissed at the absence of videos that would show a goddamn gameplay of any class. ALL of the videos on Baldur’s gate 3 classes are simply a character creator/editor screen and these dudes just talk and talk and talk, without showing ANYTHING they talking about. I simply can’t understand a thing about this complex game without seeing the action. I swear to god, I don’t get what’s the problem of all BG3 content makers, why do they only show the description of abilities and never show them in action. How does a non DND person supposed to get an idea of what those nerds are talking about if they can’t turn off the damn character editor screen for a second. I’ve been looking sometimes for a whole month if there’s any properly made video and I finally found it. You perfectly show everything you’re talking about, so I finally understand what a paladin is. Nice job mate. This is what I wanted to see for every class, especially considering that aestetics, visual effects is important for me when choosing a class in any game.

    I wish more games had similar consequences for a paladin breaking their oath. Not cucking you out of your magical powers, but turning them into something entirely different. It's mechanically rich, and has excellent roleplaying potential. Was it a willing choice that you broke your oath? Do you seek redemption for your betrayal, or do you revel in the newfound power? Do you still believe in the tenets of your old oath, or will you follow your own ideals? Obviously, a way to restore that oath should be provided - at a cost far greater than just paying some schmuck an incrementing amount of money.

    I know, 3 month old vid, but I just got the game and found out about OBP. I have a few questions:
    1. Is it possible to have 2 undead minions I.E. one raised and one controlled, or is it one it the other?
    2. What is the difference between raised and controlled undead? Are raised undead better since it's unlocked later?
    3. How does this decision affect your party? Will raising the dead lock you out of any companion interactions, or lose affinity with "good" characters?
    4. If you're controlling 1 undead, can you release it in case something better comes along? Or do you just send it to it's "death" to free up a controlled spot?
    5. Since Aura of Hate affects melee weapons instead of melee attacks, is it possible to animate or control weapon-possessing undead? Or does the act of raising/controlling strip them of said weapon?

    • @kohlicoide2258
      @kohlicoide2258 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      1. Not as Oathbreaker, when you rly want a undead "army" i prefer Wizard with Necromancer, as Oathbreaker you have just 1 undead minion. (you can make a multiclass Oathbreaker/Necromancer but its questionable how good this is.. Oathbreaker learn Aura of Hate with lvl 7 but Wizard most of his usefull raising undead spells with lvl 6 means you have to sacrifice one of that)
      2. Raised "your own creation" means you use to spell to create a zombie from a corps, controlled means you fight against a _enemy_ undead and make it your minion (there is also a version of this spell for animals) its literally "Ey you damn zombie, you fight for me now!" "Okay." Raised its better because in many areas you will have problems to find undeads to enslave
      3. nothing i play a "chaotic good" Oathbreaker Paladin (tbh like a Darkknight) and nobody in my group cares about that, you can still be the good guy most of the good characters start to hate you when you do something really evil like kill the Tieflings in Act 1 etc but Karlach, Wyll.. even Druids like Halsin etc dont care about you raising zombies (or just dissaprove but dont leave you more like "Meh.. not cool but i still want to help you!") (in most case) or using necrotic or other "evil" magic
      4. you can realise it like every other summon beast, just take controll of your pet like one of your companions and there must be a button to "let him free"
      5. tbh im not sure.. maybe i find something about that

    • @robo30000
      @robo30000 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      a vampire isn't an undead in the baldurs gate and dnd world though so that's why it works. Vampires are simply humans turned by true vampires to become vampire spawn, astarion is one of those vampire spawn. Skeletons, zombies and raised from the dead corpses are classified as undead. Vampires never died, they're not undead.

    personal experience, Oathbreaker isn't worth it. Control Undead turns the party hostile to you every time without fail, and Aura of Hate doesn't actually work on any of the Undead you can raise with Animate Dead, Danse Macabre, and Create Undead.

      my Oathbreaker is 17 Str 8 Dex, 14 Con, 8 8 and 15 CHR

    • @Omaha01
      @Omaha01  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would go 16 str, 10 dex, 14 con, 8 int, 10 wis, 16 cha to start out and then at level 4 get your strength to 18. But that's just me.
