- The OnePlus 12 is an $800 phone with performance that comes very, very close to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It's got a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 silicon, a 6.8-inch 2K LTPO OLED display, and a triple lens system including a Periscope camera that can produce 3X optical zoom shots. The main camera is also using the new Sony LYT-808 sensor.

Really impressive review of this flagship smartphone.I didn't know about this phone coming out this month, but it does seem like a significant upgrade over last year's One Plus 11, considering this phone has a better display, better battery life, and a much better camera system than the one from last year.And it even trades blows with the Samsung Galaxy S24 ultra for the most part in the camera department.Very interesting.
I'm new to your channel. Very nice work. You said many words correctly for example calling 6x a crop clearly distinguishing from digital zoom. The 6x photo is 16 megapixels.
You clearly explained the "ai" exclusivity to the google software.
Now, several weeks later when OnePlus has updated software with some ai, that sort of nullifies your mild complaint. And on top of that, some of this new ai is being done on camera.

Did you mention how much RAM and storage or if there is an expandable storage options for the One Plus? I've been on the Samsung website looking at trade in values for my s23 ultra, and take advantage of their double your storage promotion. I like the idea of the new flat screen on the s24 ultra so you can put a decent screen protector on it. And 7 years of updates versus the three that are left on my current phone is compelling to trade. Also, another thing I can now take into consideration after having the experience was that I broke a screen on this phone. Having readily available customer service centers in the area is helpful and I'm not sure what OnePlus has to offer with reference to customer service.

For me, one plus customer service was quite satisfying. On top of it every detail is mentioned on their website including the charges.

Well, you a truly great reviewer!! I was leaning to the Pix 8 Pro, coming from the Pix 7 Pro and the One Plus offers $360 f trade in for pix 7 pro on their website..I think I'm going with 1+, looks like a steal with all the hardware, beautiful display The only a1 I will miss is the call screening..

hi ben, i switched from mate 20 pro to s23 ultra and im massively dissappointed about the camera. i liked my huawei for the zoom pictures. my s23 makes the ugliest zoom pics with no dept of field and bad quality. which one is the king at the moment? im more into 2,5x / 3x / 5x zoom pictures. should i wait for honor 6 magic pro?
Curious if the screen reduces to 1hz if you set 120hz in settings, rather than auto.
your content is awsome and you nail it every time. I like the fact you talked about the AI features in the s24 but keep in mind that samsung said they will become a paid subscription feature in the future, so I think they don't matter that much for this comparison. keep it coming, we love your reviews.

I was watching your x90 and x100 reviews for the last couple of days and I'm seriously considering jumping ship from OP (many reasons for it). What would you say the main differences are? I'm a huge camera user (hence the vivo), but software features are also a big issue for me.
Still think the Nubia has a more compelling camera setup. Do you still have it to compare their cameras?
hi can you do a comparison regarding speed and over all performance of this with s24 ultra including battery life. I'm being more inclined to buy this one for now, look like more bang for the bucks.

I've been very happy with previous Oneplus smartphones purchases. The company is not greedy like the other competitors. Their phones are not only durable and well made but also very affordable. I am still holding on my One plus 7 pro, even thou its battery is already slowing down. This is the phone I will be replacing it with sometime this year; even thou I only paid $550 for my 7 pro on a promotion special in 2019. I am waiting and hoping for the Oneplus 12 to lowered its current price of $799 on a promotion special later this year!? even thou it seems fairly priced and very competitive for the $799 price. If my current phone dies, this is going to be its replacement!!

Not being a fan boy of any brand but how many years support updates is Oneplus going to do for this phone. Are they going to fix the video jitters in upcoming firmware. How many watts does it support for generic wireless power bank, since it claims 50Watt fast wireless charging only for their Oneplus charger that is plugged to the wall..

I'd swap the SPen (that I NEVER use) for the IR blaster and bigger battery in a second. For some odd reason I can get the S24U in Australia, after all the magic cupons for a lot less than the One Plus. I even considered the x100 pro, but it turned out to be, at its cheapest, A$100 more than the S24U.

No mate, it's the S24U 512GB - I got it for A$1,528.37, A$100 cheaper than the cheapest global X100 Pro I could find here.

One question nobody seems to cover: I use my phone in the car and at home for quality streaming music (with LG V60's headphone jack and their excellent D/A converter). Does either phone come close to that music quality?

Incredible! After the OnePlus One (which I still own, but its battery died months ago), this is the very first OnePlus phone I would gladly buy. Well done OnePlus! If they are gonna trade in Italy as well a phone in exchange of a 100€ discount, i will give them back the OnePlus One 😁
I am sure soon enough there will be apps that can mimic what the S24 ultra is able to do, which will put most phones back onto a level playing field.
Unfortunately it will not be the same at all, Samsung's strength is to perfectly integrate its OS and not to have a third-party application which will not provide the same ergonomics.

Lol there are still apps for that but they all suck in quality! Samsung's quality is really good.. nothing on Android or iOS at least that can compare with it

Naah man. You may regret that choice if camera and AI is important. See mrwhosetheboss's camera comparison. I'll definitely choose even base S24 over this even due to the IP68

If the S pen isn't a must then the 24U is overpriced. That's basically it lol. Camera is all subjective. Most phones camera is more than good enough for everyone. Other wise, get a professional camera. No phone can beat that.
The S24 has WAY better cameras but the OnePlus 12 is a better phone overall. While with the s24 plus it's really close

Agreed to ben. If you don't care what's Samsung galaxy S24 series AI features OnePlus 12 is a great choice. It can handle everything you needed on a phone for the price it's a killer for Samsung and Apple even to Google in the US on my opinion. But outside US though you have a bunch of Phone Brands that is good. 10:19
Got the s24 ultra for $400. Easy win for me. Plus, the S Pen is a must for me. "Better Camera," I personally think, is wag over rated and overhyped. 99% of good phone cameras are good enough for everyone. If you are a professional photographer, you'll be using a camera. That simple. Comparing the camera is meh. All phones take good pictures. But what separates you from the rest?

greetings and nice review.... As always through European taxes the prices go through the roof. if the base price in the USA is 800 dollars, and with the trade at 700 dollars, in my state the minimum price is 1000 euros ... which brings OnePlus to a price that becomes 50% more than other markets

Well done mate. Good review. I like oneplus 12. I did order the S24 ultra though. But because i had lots of discount (512gb same price as 256gb version as pre order promo. 12% discount because I'm samsung member. So I could buy a S24 ultra 512 with a 450 euro discount). Otherwise maybe i would have picked the oneplus this time. And i'm a big fan of the S-spen (especially because you can use it for taking pictures on a distance)

Makes me think the overall OS experience makes it perhaps a better worthwhile choice over the edge in camera performance that Vivo x100 pro and upcoming x100 pro+ / Oppo findx7 ultra (and S24U) offers, right? Especially value for money.
I was about to ditch OP12 given vivox100pro+ is going to beat camera/performance but funtouch OS is lacking to offer a supers experience.
Am in the same boat. OP12 is 150$ less than x100 pro

I was looking for best camera phone.
Unfortunately, best cameras are on chinese phones not really working fluid in Europe. Than was trying to like the s24 Ultra as still good camera phone, but this is really huge device. Was motivated to like it, but no way. You need huge palm to feel comfortable with the size of this device.
Oneplus is the one I have now. This is the most fair device for the money, but Vivo x100 and most of it Oppo find x7 ultra are seriously outperforming the OP12 cameras. Biggest problem with OP12 is night video stabilization, it is like none in comparison.

On paper, this should always be compared to the highest tier phones such as the S24 Ultra or iPhone 15 Pro Max. To have the same tech (RAM, Resolution, Processor) or better (battery/charging) and to be a cheaper price screams value all around. As a former Samsung owner, the S pen is not enough to separate the Ultra phone into a class of its own. Furthermore, many if not all of those AI features are going to roll out to the other Samsung phones and exist in some fashion for other Android phones. Also, Pixel owners will get many of these features by default anyway. The only knock I see is that the phone is IP65 rated instead of 68

I am just not sure which one between OP 12, VIVO X100 Pro and the to be released Xiaomi 14 in India to go for.
Vivo has the best Camera but the software support and durability is something I am not sure.
OP 12 a great All Rounder with wonderful display and software support with Oxygen OS.
Xiaomi 14 may be has a better camera than OP 12 but most likely will be priced higher.
I like ultra because they offer 7yrs Android update😊
And a subscription fee for the AI features. Maybe they will charge for the updates too 😂
