Really impressive review of this flagship smartphone.I didn't know about this phone coming out this month, but it does seem like a significant upgrade over last year's One Plus 11, considering this phone has a better display, better battery life, and a much better camera system than the one from last year. And it even trades blows with the Samsung Galaxy S24 ultra for the most part in the camera department.Very interesting.

Lol there are still apps for that but they all suck in quality! Samsung's quality is really good.. nothing on Android or iOS at least that can compare with it
I'd swap the SPen (that I NEVER use) for the IR blaster and bigger battery in a second. For some odd reason I can get the S24U in Australia, after all the magic cupons for a lot less than the One Plus. I even considered the x100 pro, but it turned out to be, at its cheapest, A$100 more than the S24U.

Agreed to ben. If you don't care what's Samsung galaxy S24 series AI features OnePlus 12 is a great choice. I don't understand why this phone ranks so low in Geekbench 6 at 10:40 - It confuses me about Snapdragon 800 Gen 3 performance - And many "Tech News Outlets" don't even understand there's a "Galaxy Version" of the SoC as well.. But if this gets 941 / 4738 while S24 Ultra gets 2,200 / 6.8 - 7.2k - Then that's a big difference, and something that's impacting my main reason if I should steer clear - We don't know if this will be patched.. I've been very happy with previous Oneplus smartphones purchases. The company is not greedy like the other competitors. Their phones are not only durable and well made but also very affordable. I am still holding on my One plus 7 pro, even thou its battery is already slowing down. This is the phone I will be replacing it with sometime this year; even thou I only paid $550 for my 7 pro on a promotion special in 2019. On paper, this should always be compared to the highest tier phones such as the S24 Ultra or iPhone 15 Pro Max. To have the same tech (RAM, Resolution, Processor) or better (battery/charging) and to be a cheaper price screams value all around. As a former Samsung owner, the S pen is not enough to separate the Ultra phone into a class of its own. Furthermore, many if not all of those AI features are going to roll out to the other Samsung phones and exist in some fashion for other Android phones. Also, Pixel owners will get many of these features by default anyway. The only knock I see is that the phone is IP65 rated instead of 68

How will Xiaomi 14 Ultra compare with the OnePlus 12? Mainly the cameras I'm interested in. Wondering what phone to get. Probably will go for OP12 as I think the cameras are good enough for me.
Makes me think the overall OS experience makes it perhaps a better worthwhile choice over the edge in camera performance that Vivo x100 pro and upcoming x100 pro+ / Oppo findx7 ultra (and S24U) offers, right? Especially value for money. I was about to ditch OP12 given vivox100pro+ is going to beat camera/performance but funtouch OS is lacking to offer a supers experience.
@@StartreckTu honestly I'm going back and forth, the more i see the level of details and bokeh in the bigger sensors the more i want to wait for x100 pro+ as long as it comes with funtouch os. Quiet a few reviewers mention just meh camera performance of OP12.
The price starting at 1000 Euros in the EU is such bs, why can't we get it at the same aggressive pricing than in the US? The s24U and OP12 are priced almost the same where I'm at
I am currently on my 4th consecutive Samsung and had enough of the Camera side of things! They just tend to overexpose and oversaturate the colours and that is why I am looking for a different Brand I tend to like the Samples of Google and Sony Phones and since this one has a Sony Lenses I think it is a Great Proposition.
One question nobody seems to cover: I use my phone in the car and at home for quality streaming music (with LG V60's headphone jack and their excellent D/A converter). Does either phone come close to that music quality?
Not being a fan boy of any brand but how many years support updates is Oneplus going to do for this phone. Are they going to fix the video jitters in upcoming firmware. How many watts does it support for generic wireless power bank, since it claims 50Watt fast wireless charging only for their Oneplus charger that is plugged to the wall..
Thanks for the review 👏 I swear not to buy a phone with a central front facing camera or island. That's the only reason I'm not getting this one. Wish they keep the corner camera. Can't wait for your impressions on the ZTE Nubia Z60 Ultra 😍
You cant beat oneplus phones fir the money you get a powerful phone im getting op12 16 gb and 512 for 800 is unbelievable I think if more people tried the OnePlus phones they definitely would switch over to them The battery life is unbelievable and the fact that it charges in 22 minutes is even better once you go fast charge it's hard to go back to any other phone
hi ben, i switched from mate 20 pro to s23 ultra and im massively dissappointed about the camera. i liked my huawei for the zoom pictures. my s23 makes the ugliest zoom pics with no dept of field and bad quality. which one is the king at the moment? im more into 2,5x / 3x / 5x zoom pictures. should i wait for honor 6 magic pro?
Same. I have the regular S23 and it's the only size that works. I wish companies can make smaller versions along with there main flagships. Also trying to fit a 6.82 in your pocket doing day to day activities.
As always a great review. At the price for anyone not wanting A China varient phone oneplus offers great value for money. AI and enabling it could well be a lot worse than having spyware on your phone with a few years worth of data stored about every aspect of your life. I am sure insurance companies are dying to get hold of the data to triple your premiums.
Great review! Definitely the best overall phone for the price. I am just not sure which one between OP 12, VIVO X100 Pro and the to be released Xiaomi 14 in India to go for. Vivo has the best Camera but the software support and durability is something I am not sure. OP 12 a great All Rounder with wonderful display and software support with Oxygen OS. Xiaomi 14 may be has a better camera than OP 12 but most likely will be priced higher.
I've preordered my OnePlus 12 here in the UK, upgrading from my OnePlus 7 Pro, it's been a fantastic phone but I recently broke the screen and it's time for a replacement! It retails at £899 on the OnePlus store but because I was one of the first 1000 to preorder I've got a free Bang and Olufsen headset that's worth £449 coming with the phone! I'm over the moon, even without the free headset I wouldn't be paying the extra for the s24 ultra it's personally just not worth it for me but Im not knocking it either, I like the design and it's features but I'm after the best value for money and my OnePlus 7 Pro has proved that for me tenfold over the years.

heard this weighs 220gms and if we use the case it's going to increase. What do you think about using this as a daily device with a lot of calls. How's the in hand weight distribution? Will my wrist hurt ?
Every flashship phones are heavy nowadays 😅
Should i buy now because of that $150 CAD reduction or wait for more to come?
I'm in Canada also and they're offering the 16gb ram with 500gb+ for free until Feb. Too good of an offer to pass up on. Besides the iphone I would get the OnePlus 12.
@@alb.4089 Canadian here too and I was weak...I just did it. Now the problem is finding a case here. Looking for OnePlus case in Canada is a pain in the ass
hi can you do a comparison regarding speed and over all performance of this with s24 ultra including battery life. I'm being more inclined to buy this one for now, look like more bang for the bucks.
Great review, Ben.
Thanks!
Choosing between this or the Xiaomi 14 Pro. Which do you think would be a better pick?
Ben, do u have comparison between oppo reno 11pro vs xiaomi 13t pro?
As an ex 8T user, the specs of this phone are very attractive. Sadly I take alot of photos and I think they are still behind in terms of photos. It really just needs google's post processing and I'll definitely buy it
funfact about the fingerprint sensor: when i calibrated my finger i assume i used too much pressure so after a while my phone didnt recognize my fingerprint anymore, luckily i remembered the unlock code. i then did a new calibration with the same pressure i would use when i would unlock my phone and up til now i didnt have this problem anymore.
does it have the weird focusing issue like most OP ?
Compared to vivo x100 pro, which takes better photos and videos?
Vivo
Am in the same boat. OP12 is 150$ less than x100 pro
They just tend to overexpose and oversaturate the colours and that is why I am looking for a different Brand
I tend to like the Samples of Google and Sony Phones and since this one has a Sony Lenses I think it is a Great Proposition.
Nice review Ben👍🏼
One question nobody seems to cover: I use my phone in the car and at home for quality streaming music (with LG V60's headphone jack and their excellent D/A converter). Does either phone come close to that music quality?
Can i use with any service
Best review of the oneplus 12 out there!! Great video
How many versions of OS and security updates?
I woukd probably get a One+ 12 Pro with better cameras and AI.
4years of OS updates
&
5yrs of security updates
Thanks for the review 👏
I swear not to buy a phone with a central front facing camera or island.
Wait, colorOS includes Google Lens, you can search based on your screen, just bring the side menu abd hit teanslate, it will bring Google Lens
hi ben, i switched from mate 20 pro to s23 ultra and im massively dissappointed about the camera. i liked my huawei for the zoom pictures. my s23 makes the ugliest zoom pics with no dept of field and bad quality. which one is the king at the moment? im more into 2,5x / 3x / 5x zoom pictures. should i wait for honor 6 magic pro?
It's soooo big though. That is my only hang up on OnePlus. I have little hands and the size of the regular S24 is really perfect.
Same. I have the regular S23 and it's the only size that works. I wish companies can make smaller versions along with there main flagships. Also trying to fit a 6.82 in your pocket doing day to day activities.
I'm definitely sold 😮 I will get it today
I im looking for a new phone mostly im a camera guy and occasionally playing games is OnePlus 12 or 15 promax better? Im between these 2
S24 Ultra. Best allrounder.
Wich better oneplus 12 other vivo x100 pro?
Yes
OP 12 or Pixel 8 pro ? Same price ( Europe ) 950€ ,what do you choose ?
As always a great review. At the price for anyone not wanting A China varient phone oneplus offers great value for money.
AI and enabling it could well be a lot worse than having spyware on your phone with a few years worth of data stored about every aspect of your life. I am sure insurance companies are dying to get hold of the data to triple your premiums.
Oneplus is Chinese
i get Samsung not because of value but for One ui , better&longer OS updates and i know where to go when something with phone goes south
Oxygen OS is so much faster and without the bloatware. It is a pleasure to use everyday.
Oxygen OS 10 was... the newer roms nothing special but ok. @@machtschnell7452
For you, which is better, the OnePlus 12 or the oppo find x7 ultra?
