I remember this completely baking my noodle when I first seen it. The PS2 was new, the super-slick graphics, the Zanarkand Theme (!!), and one of the most mysterious Openings to a FF game. Legendary!! Should've included the Intro movie though dudo 😁

Its a pretty interesting implication, Sin is not sending him to the future, he's "summoning" Tidus just like any Aeon is summoned.
