To think Tidus isn't even a real person but just a dream... if he knew that from the beginning he wouldn't have recovered from that and stuck in an eternal depression.
Yeah he let everyone in Yuna’s party find out for themselves just how corrupt the whole pilgrimage system really was and was confident that they would come to the right decision to fight against it.
it wouldnt have mattered much if he just told them everything they all lived their entire lives STEEPED in religious indoctrination and brain washing and one man, unless is was mika himself, wasnt gonna even gonna scratch that. sure it would create a little doubt but he had no evidence and as respected as he was, he was still a stranger to most of them.
It's sacrilege to say this, but I've always thought Tidus' voice was absolutely perfect. I don't care what others think. James Arnold Taylor really blows it out of the park here. I can really feel his frustration, whilst still sounding young and confused. The way it's written is excellent as well, each sentence and word feeling completely appropriate. It feels so raw, so real. The voice acting in FFX feels more raw to me than any other thing I've seen, perhaps because of its imperfections alongside the immensely talented cast carrying it so well. This is one of my absolute favorite scenes, because the two best voice actors in the game get to play off of each other so, so well. When Auron says: "It's all right." his gentle tone makes me feel so soothed, like he really does mean it. And the music is perfect. Transitioning from silence, to Auron's Theme when he speaks of his old journeys, and finally, to Wandering Flame, symbolizing Tidus' feeling of being lost and like he has no other choice.
Totally agree. Its not sacrilege at all-I wonder if the people who say that even played the game or just hear jokes about the laughing scene and assume. Like at 2:27 when Tidus retorts, "I *don't care* about your stories!" The raw emotional response is great :)
FFX's English localisation is a fascinating topic. It was ambitious, and they got a lot right, but also a lot wrong that could have been easily avoided. It was early days for that sort of thing though, nobody had tried to dub a 40 hour+, voice acted game with a rom hack before. There's a lot of really broken scenes in it. The localisers bit off more than they could chew. Everyone knows they couldn't adjust the length of any audio clips, and Japanese is less verbose than English usually, so a lot of meaning got lost. But they also tried to match the lip syncing, which just hobbled the translation further. It's like it has the issues that hurt FF7's english localisation and fitting stuff in text boxes, but in audio form. To top it off, the direction was really off in some scenes, sometimes by so much it comes across as having been recorded line by line randomly with no context at all. My guess is this could possibly be from retakes done at a later date. This scene isn't one of them though, it's by far one of the best parts. Auron was the best acted character in the English dub, partly because there were no lip movements to sync up giving the translation a bit more freedom, but I think the actor did a great job too. I also like James Arnold Taylor as Tidus, but FFX is clearly early days for him. He's come on a long way as an actor in the last 20 years. However Tidus probably suffers most from the audio clip time limit problem, and there wasn't much JAT could do about that. Despite this, Yuna really bears the brunt of the localisation and acting issues in FFX. Probably the most important character, and they really needed a more experienced actress than Hedy Burress was then. It was a perplexing casting choice. In the more newly recorded stuff I feel differently about her though, and it makes sense at last. That scene in World of Final Fantasy was genuine and nicely done. Exactly how she shoud have been originally.
Not only that but for a 2001 game, the graphics were also ahead of it's time and groundbreaking. Many games in 2001, or the late 90's to early 2000's in general, was a period of unprecedented creativity in more polished 3-D graphics, animation, epic cinematic music and voice acting in gaming history. Without the cutting edge foundations of this time period, we probably wouldn't have a lot of the high definition and advanced gaming aspects from 2004 and later on.
FFX was also the first FF in the franchise that featured voice acting. Despite the animation and lip syncing looking so wooden and doll-like, the voice actors and actresses did a phenomenal job portraying their characters.

This is my favorite scene in FFX, You really feel Tidus' frustration, he's just a teenager who got swept up in to a different world, a world that's consumed by death, and the reveal that all of Spira's suffering is caused by Jecht, his father, who is Sin, is crushing.

His brothers were tricked into sacrificing their lives needlessly, he lost his entire life in the ranks of yevon and his place in spira before the pilgrimage and his literal life after. He spends a decade raising his fallen brother's child, then loses all of the people in that life as well. He comes to spira and sees tidus' hopeless demeanor reflecting his own, and he says "it's alright"
It's more than that jecht tells Aaron that tides is a cry baby and needs someone to look after him. Aaron said I'll guard him with my life. Since he was dead he got kimarhi to watch over Yuna in his place, remember Kumarhi found Aaron dying on Mt gagzat and took him to rins shop, before he died he ask him to watch over Yuna, funny that kimarhi knew Aaron was unsent the whole time and said nothing. Only question I have is did Seymore fight sin as a child and die? His memories were in zanarkand
It's definitely one of my favourite moments in the game, Auron really tries hard to be a good mentor for Tidus but he's not really good at it, but at least he tries because of his promise to Jecht.

Same here. This game has left a profound effect on my life. I listen to music and scenes and even play it at times. It brings back great memories as a kid playing it countless of times. Bringing nostalgic moments back into existence. Ffx is a world of its own and continue to hold a special place in my heart and soul for all eternity.
Absolutely amazing game for its time. The combination of the music and the dialogue is so good for 2001. At a time when voice acting in video games was new, this was incredible.
@@lordshenfan6625the game was bold for a final fantasy. Instead of playing as a badass epic anime guy with amnesia you play as a regular sports playing guy with relatable trauma
I just finished playing ff15, although Tidus' voice can be somewhat annoying in this game, the voice acting and story/writing in this game blows FF15 out of the water, not even close. This was one of the best stories in all final fantasies if not the best, Auron was an awesome character.
I loved this scene because Auron comes right out with it and gives Tidus the time to process it and not do something dumb because he's feeling emotional.
This is the kind of reveal that wouldn't be shown in most stories until like 80% of the way through. The fact we see this scene not even 10 hours in just how crazy the narrative eventually becomes.
Tidus's complaints in this scene hit a bit too close to home, especially this one "You tell me it's my decision! But I don't have a choice do I?" As life continues on this seems to hit more and more true, you can choose to do any number of things, but in reality choosing not to choose is like choosing death, eventually there comes a time when you really are just stuck, you might want to do something else, you might want to be free, but it doesn't really matter in the end, choosing to be free is choosing to give up, even if you hate following along this road ahead of you. Even for a Final Fantasy game, I think Tidus's early stages and complaints here are extremely mature and realistic, I can't speak for everyone, but for this past decade or so, I feel like I've just been getting dragged along, but it's not like there's a better choice, applying to jobs nowadays is a lot harder than it was, so I've been jobless for a while now, and it's left me feeling somewhat hopeless, and like Tidus in this game, I had to leave my home behind and I've been living here for so long. Originally this comment was much longer too, I decided to delete the rest of it, I just hate it so much here, so some of what I had to say ended up being repeats, when you hate something so much and you're stuck with it, it's hard not to bring up the same points over and over again, it's all your brain thinks about when you don't distract yourself from it, how bad is it? Let's just say that when I'm not distracted I'm probably one of the most depressed people you could ever talk to. I don't really know where the Tidus hate comes from, a lot of what he says is coming from a place of immense stress and frustration, he's been taken away from everything he knew and can't go back, on top of that, he knows nothing about this place or what's happening, he has no choice but to go along with it, speaking from experience I know had bad that feels, and it's worse than you might think. It's not just as simple as being homesick it's a lot worse than that.
Remember seeing this comment a while back, forgot where I read it and glad I found it again. That's pretty deep ngl, never saw the scene this way and its very true to life in some regards, hope things have gotten better for you in the last 6 months
Though you have to remember (spoiler) We find out the actual existence of Tidus, which without its sequel the standalone game pretty much takes the life out of things
The music of Wandering Flame along with Tidus' naive but rational frustration at the reality of consequences out of his hands, you side with Auron because you've been there too, the fatalism in his chuckle
Imagine a world that is completely fair. A world where every deed that you do is given back to you. In such a world, evil wouldn't exist. Why? Because all the evil people would have died from getting their evilness inflicted back onto them. Sadly, we don't live in such a world. We live in a world that is unfair. In reality, the Laws of Conservation of Energy and Mass states that matter and energy cannot be created. Meaning that you cannot create something out of nothing. If you want something, you'll have to take it from something else. In reality, the only way you can gain something is by taking it. And if you give something away, you lose it. As you can see, we live in a world that rewards selfishness and punish selflessness. This is the reason why not every effort is rewarded. This is the reason why good things happens to bad people and good people suffers from it. The cruelty of the world is a testament to the ultimate truth. Life is unfair. Happiness is scares and suffering is abundance. But the essence of life is not about unfairness. The essence of life is and has always been about opportunity. As long as you live, there will always be opportunity for you to suffer. As long as you are alive, there will always be a chance for you to be sad. But because you are alive, there will always be a chance for you to be happy as well. The little happiness that you obtain from eating a piece of candy, watching a movie, and playing a video game. These are the happiness that you will never obtain again if your life ends. Whether or not these little happiness is worth living for is for you to decide.

Name a better cast in the series that brought the world of Final Fantasy to its knees, not only by being the first in the series with voice acting, but with a diversity of personality behind the characters that had you falling head over heels for at least one of them.
The first two games, possibly only two, to illicit emotional responses from me were Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy X. This, to me, is still the greatest of the JRPG genre. While FFX may not have the best game play of the series, it is the only one besides VII where you had any emotional attachment to any of the characters.
I would agree, but that truely isn't the case for me. I've gotten emotional over other RPGs in the past, especially from Lost Odyssey, FF7, FF9, FF10, even recently FF15 gave me some emotional hits during some of their best cutscenes.
@@lordgenome777 wow that’s definitely a lot of work! I was focusing on finishing the story again and did! I’ll get back into it and aim for the platinum. Filling out the sphere grid is an incredible grind.
I love how Auron throws such a bomb of information so soon in the story and Tidus just needs to deal with it. Making him mature through, questioning everything and not just knowing it until the end like most cliche storys.
Let this comparison sink in; Compare Final Fantasy IX, which was released in 2000. To this game, which was released in 2001. In just 1 year, the quality in terms of graphics are groundbreaking, not to mention the setting was very well designed.
Goodness, I got so mad when Tidus yelled at him at the beginning. I would have tackled him in a bear hug, especially since he's the only person there he knew from his old life.
I'm keeping in mind that Tidus didn't exactly have a good upbringing since his Dad isn't the kind of Dad some people would live up to be. He was more immature than his own son. At least Tidus had a reason to struggle with growing up, mostly due to how his Dad treated his son over something that Tidus couldn't control at the time. Tidus was a young tyke mourning his mom's passing. You can't always expect a child to grow the way you want to when said child has challenges internalizing and emulating. At the very least, Auron was clam about it. Which is a boon considering he could keep Tidus in check when he wanted to.
The faces look so good and life like for 2001 and they gave them botox barbie doll more animeish faces that take you out of the scenario in the remaster.
@windy. The character models were actually redone from scratch, and they did change the faces a bit (Tidus in particular has a dramatically different facial structure). However, that isn't really the heart of the issue. The real problem is that they didn't re-animate things correctly for those new models. It was done by some cheap company they outsourced the work to. Fortunately, the KH remasters, as well as FFXII's were done in-house.
When I was younger, I wasn't really interested in stories in games. I would pretty much always skip them no matter the content in them. And then I got this game for Christmas when I was 10. When I first heard Tidus say "Listen to my story." In the beginning I was like "Alright fine..." As events progressed I was slowly more and more enthralled by the story and characters. And then it skyrocketed during this scene. Unfortunately I was "underleveled" later in the game when I fought the anti magic machina, Seymour 1, and Evrae. And then my disc broke. Needless to say I was distraught and I wanted to see more of the game. (Which I did by watching a Let's Play) Thankfully now I have the HD version on the PS3 and I have gotten farther than my original playthrough. Also I don't suck at the game as much now!
Auron, Braska, and Jecht banishing Sin is kind of like the dark warriors in FF3 or dawn warriors in FF5 that sealed away ExDeath. And Tidus is the son of one of the warriors, like Bartz. And Auron is of the past warriors, like Galuf was.
To think Tidus isn't even a real person but just a dream... if he knew that from the beginning he wouldn't have recovered from that and stuck in an eternal depression.

Is it possible to have a mid-early-life crisis, because I think this video just sent me into one. I remember the first time experiencing this game and hearing these songs and it was so long ago and my life was so different then.
Who says video games don't make impacts on lives?
Right there with you. 😔
Same here. This game has left a profound effect on my life. I listen to music and scenes and even play it at times. It brings back great memories as a kid playing it countless of times. Bringing nostalgic moments back into existence. Ffx is a world of its own and continue to hold a special place in my heart and soul for all eternity.
All my best memories are from video games, or connected to video games. I still play the soundtracks of FFX/FFVII/FFVIII daily, after all these years.
guy said this 9 years ago..crazy
Absolutely amazing game for its time. The combination of the music and the dialogue is so good for 2001. At a time when voice acting in video games was new, this was incredible.
Sure if you like your main characters to be whinners...
Voice acting was new for the FF series, not for video games...
@@lordshenfan6625the game was bold for a final fantasy. Instead of playing as a badass epic anime guy with amnesia you play as a regular sports playing guy with relatable trauma
I watch this clip each day just before work. I think it’s one of the few things that keeps me going.
But I don't have a choice do I?"
As life continues on this seems to hit more and more true, you can choose to do any number of things, but in reality choosing not to choose is like choosing death, eventually there comes a time when you really are just stuck, you might want to do something else, you might want to be free, but it doesn't really matter in the end, choosing to be free is choosing to give up, even if you hate following along this road ahead of you.
Though you have to remember (spoiler)
We find out the actual existence of Tidus, which without its sequel the standalone game pretty much takes the life out of things
Truth.
Goddamn, the original looks so, so much better. I should've done a whole cutscene marathon right after I finished the game. Also, Auron looks like Hugh Jackman.
For the first game with actual voices. playing ff7 to this is magical tidus is such a relatable character and i love this games dialogue and characters
the song is called wandering flame... I love it too, downloaded it on my iPod :)

If only they had actually showed the battle between Jecht, Braska, and Auron vs Sin. Or even made it a playable story fight. That would have been amazing.
You mean Jecht Sin vs Previous Sin lol
you mean Jecht final Eon @@fg009letyrds8
I want to be just like Auron when I'm older (in all the ways that matter, of course).
I want to be him in ways that matter and dont
You doing well, because you using Gatts picture on your profile. 😊
Dead?
You‘re older now, hope you became a good Auron
"You tell me its my decision but I don't have a choice do I?!
Meta-commentary right there.
Auron is a G, he was the only character I have like 99% of the time in my party, especially boss battles.
This is my favorite cutscene in the game
Wow, Auron looks even older and beat to hell in the original here
I'm still crying
Name a better cast in the series that brought the world of Final Fantasy to its knees, not only by being the first in the series with voice acting, but with a diversity of personality behind the characters that had you falling head over heels for at least one of them.
Damn, now i want to replay this game, lol. Good stuff, good times! I remember when they were working on this game. Oh the years just fly by. Sigh
Auron did a well job revealing Jecht's true nature early.
Wow i never knew the faces were this much better inthe original
Father - it is the one and only cliff, that you must overtop.
This is the I am your father moment and NOOOOO!!! I don't believe you moment
This is off topic but I need to say that the ps2 will always be a legend for giving us games like this.
Childhood memories...
We need a final fantasy jecht.
This game changed my life. It is more than just a game. Its a wonderful and deep adventure. I hope more games can be close to this masterpiece
Tidus: But you told me Sin betrayed and murdered my father.
Auron: From a certain point of view.
Auron - every story has an ending.. tell that to oda :p
I want a patch to change the faces in the remaster to those of ps2 version
0:30 is what I called "Laugh out Loud"
We rarely heard that from Auron xDD
when i finished the game i cried. i a man btw. so beautiful game
On top of that the game dabbles with real life religions!
Thank you Corey, I am also a Corey who love FFX.
this game is such a beautiful piece of art🥲😭😭😭😭😭
I’m still searching for my zanarkand. With a hope I will one day find it.

nah 12 is
but 10 is definitely the second to last 😭
Aurons just permenantly vallied lol
I love how Auron throws such a bomb of information so soon in the story and Tidus just needs to deal with it. Making him mature through, questioning everything and not just knowing it until the end like most cliche storys.
Dam this Shit gets me every time 😢
I hated my father for many years, and I just discovered a cancer, guess who is the sin of my cancer ?
Ese Sin is Jecht es una obra maestra.
Jesus, this is so good!
if you ever want to feel old. just know that there are comments from people 8 years ago wishing they could hav played this 12 years before that..
Let this comparison sink in;
Compare Final Fantasy IX, which was released in 2000.
Haha yeah I guess the music makes for it
@@cx5870 The music is very good in this game.
@@nicoleengelhuber3424 Totally agree, I also like the name of the track used in this scene, wandering flame
Auron the fucking GOAT!
I’ve never understood why this game is seen in the same echelon as FF7. It’s not even close.
I still own a copy of this game
you still got it? :')
@@KilluaZoldyck-qx9jf Yes I still got it 👍 it's one of my fav FF
BOOM! Like happy festivals fireworks, ya?
The faces look so good and life like for 2001 and they gave them botox barbie doll more animeish faces that take you out of the scenario in the remaster.
John Mc Ternan I dont think they gave the characters different faces. They're really just higher quality models and textures.
He's the trouble maker.
Sin is jecht...
Auron is mitic.
(Which I did by watching a Let's Play)
Thankfully now I have the HD version on the PS3 and I have gotten farther than my original playthrough.
Also I don't suck at the game as much now!
0:54 is best music
0:54
I wonder why they changed his face so much in the remake I kinda like his look better in the original
Anybody know the name of the song during the last minute and a half? I'd like to find it by itself, but so far no luck.
Wandering Flames
Auron, Braska, and Jecht banishing Sin is kind of like the dark warriors in FF3 or dawn warriors in FF5 that sealed away ExDeath. And Tidus is the son of one of the warriors, like Bartz. And Auron is of the past warriors, like Galuf was.
JECHT = DARTH VADER
TIDUS = LUKE
AURON = OBI WAN
THIS GAME IS BEST OF THE WORLD WITH FF7 😁😁😁😁
"Hmm hmmhmm hmm...hmm haha ha...ah haha ha!"
-Auron
OMG WHY DID AURON LAUGH LIKE THAT
Knowing that tidus is voiced by Ratchet hits different when your older
Wait what?
