Any chance you can review the Forte GT manual transmission model? The manual transmission should be good, but I don't know about the turbo. Why not a civic Si? because I'm cheap and don't want to spend extra money if I don't have to and Toyota Corolla no longer has a manual transmission.

My dad got a new 2019 Kia Forte FE a few years ago - absolute base model, with the regular 2.0L naturally-aspirated port injected engine (same as this one), and a 6 speed manual, for maybe about $17k. He said that even if he only gets the warranty period out of it (10 years) that he'll be happy cause of just how much car for the money it is.

Your dad is a smart man. We all know Corollas/Civics are great and they're several thousand dollars more expensive than a new Kia Forte. Not only is the Corolla MSRP higher, Corollas also have markups and accessories which people are happy to pay for since Corollas are in such extremely high demand. My point is, Corollas are expensive nowadays! So no harm in purchasing a cheap new Forte!

I rented an Optima of that year and thought it was a great car. I like it better than the Camary. It was more comfortable than the Camry I rented prior. The Camary sits too low. I had to raise my seat to make it easier to exit but, the rearview mirror obstructed my vision. I'm 6' tall. CONSUMER REPORTS mentions the ingress and egress was a challenge. The 2023 Camary has the same issues. Since I was in Cali, the rental car company only had Chargers and Camarys so I reluctantly chose a Camary because of better gas mileage. I totaled my Chevy Cobalt in an accident in early 2021. "Found" a car almost identical to it two days later at a local Kia dealership 15 miles away. I asked a friend to drop me off there the following morning on his way to work. When I got to the dealership, I was crushed to find out that the car I was there to hopefully buy had been sold the previous afternoon. Because it was minus 15 degrees that day, I ended up driving off the lot in a new (leftover) 2020 Rio. 45k miles later, I still wish I'd had the opportunity to look at other vehicles at different dealerships, but it's been a reliable ride and consistently averages 40mpg.

I recently bought a 2013 Kia Forte to replace a 2019 Cruze that was totaled by a deer .( GM Quality ?) The difference in overall quality is like night and day ,the older Kia is light years ahead of my previous Chevy in comfort size and overall build tolerence. No i am not biased ,i actually retired from the plant that built the Cruze just before they closed it so they could import more Korean made cars. The Kia has 109k miles runs perfectly and as you point out half the price of a Toyota and the Kia is much better on gas mileage ,noy quite as good as the Cruze but is a bigger car

I’m not a fan of Kia or Hyundai but my wife and I rented an Elantra when we went to Vegas last year. We drove it to the Grand Canyon and I was shocked the thing got 50 mpg and it was just a base model, not a hybrid. And the interior and ride quality was a lot better than I expected. It seemed solidly built with no rattles or anything and a nice, quiet ride. Dare I say this but I liked it.

Kia has come a long way! The newer ones are actually quite nice and they can last at least 200k if you keep up on maintenance. We want rented a brand new Toyota Camry the had around 20,000 Mi on it. That thing had a bunch of different error messages popping up when you would go into the information on the dashboard. It had stuff wrong with the steering system and a couple other things. You can have problems with any car you buy. You just have to make sure and take care of those issues when they pop up and then you can make most cars last a long time.

I owned it for 5 years and have about 65,000 miles on it now. I had some minor issues with it, but its reliable and has a good gas mileage. Mine had some issues with electrical cords and engine didnt turn on, but that was fixed easily. I also have an issue with my center screen - it has some type of an air bubble inside, but I can still see my screen no problem and didnt fix it yet because i was lazy. Its overall a low maintenance car and saves money. I tried driving an $55,000 SUV inbetween, but everything was so expensive and ended up selling it back. More expensive on gas, insurance, registration, double the car loan payment, need hand car wash, and etc. Im done with my kia forte's payments now and im absolutely glad I didnt end up keeping the expensive SUV.

I bought 3 Hyundai Accent 1.6L turbo diesel cars with actual automatic transmissions, not CVT. They are zippy AF with the turbo diesel. I had my personal one tuned also with Borla exhaust, remapped, EGR commanded to never open which boosted torque from 159 ft pound wheel torque to 212 ft pound wheel torque in a super light car. After tuning it still gets 40mpg and drives mostly like stock unless you hammer it because I left the intake side stock. I'd buy another one for use when I'm in the USA but they will never sell them. Interior is basically like the Kia there, except I added custom leather seats with extra cushion to combat small car ride and my wife is vertically challenged anyway. Biggest problem is getting the wife out of my car and into one of our Toyotas, which we also love. Fortuner and Hilux.

If that kind of transmition is problematic, buy Kia with manual one. In Europe Kia gives 7 years of warranty or ~112k miles (180k km), and two years on spare parts. They have been doing this for a while now. It's not Toyota quality, but it's pretty good, and probably beats Toyota in value for money segment. Btw France tried to impose additional taxes on South Korean cars (Hyundai and Kia at least), because they admitted they can't compete with them (Allegedly Hyundai/Kia sell cars at loss, and that may be true. E.g. this is old info but I doubt much has changed, 15 years ago VW was making around 180 € profit / car on average.).

New Corollas have a 23k starting price including the mandatory $1095 delivery fee that everyone must pay. So your 21k figure is false. Also here in Dallas, new Corollas are still marked up over MSRP due to extremely high demand

@@jimkelly1613 Kind of. They have a "launch gear", that reduces wear and tear greatly and makes for a smoother start off the line. But yeah, they cost a lot more than 21K.

What is funny is the 3 cylinder Corolla hot hatch is blowing up and burning to the ground, the Tundra engines are blowing up....Toyota is not what it used to be.
