The Sooner You Realize You Are Not In Control of Your eBay Sales The Better Off You Will Be

  • This pretty much applies to every reselling platform out there that utilizes AI, algorithms and a management approach that puts shareholders ahead of sellers (you know the one who actually build platforms). This does not apply to FCMP or Craigslist which actually shows peoples what they are searching for.

Jeff you still speak what you feel instead of putting out excess content just to skim views for max ad revenue.
I think part of this of course is when resellers reach monetization of TH-cam. It takes stress off of them when they realize they can make x amount by just making an extra live or video.
Most say they will never change but the change is always evident. I haven't noticed that with you. I'm kind of sick of most content from others.
The easiest path is not always the best way.
    Keep it up! Never change.

I get a chuckle out of the Ebay apologists. I've been doing this for a long time. I sell stuff people want. When my store gets visibility, I sell a lot. But my store gets very little. Now, those stores that are doing well really need to be grateful. Ebay could switch it up anytime they feel like it. :)

I keep saying since promoted sales have been restricted! Not many people understand this but I used to have a 20% sell through rate then after promoted it went to 2% so they would rather stop growth by grifting off promoted than let the site run free from promoted and profit from final value fees from increased sales plus the growth will be there! Buyers are sellers too and eBay got rid of thousands of sellers! They used to give coupons and free listings if you remember! No now!

100% this is how it always was prior to the pandemic prior to even April 2023 but for me it was at least consistent the switch was turned on and then off then on then off but April 2023 SOMETHING definitely happened and the Switch control was like put in hyper drive so to say meaning they were turning it off alot more then they use to as of April 2023 so i always knew eBay controlled sales 100% meaning they controlled how many you get NOT who buys your items again you cant have items people want one day and none the next day specially with a 15-20k store its mathematically IMPOSSIBLE Unless there is 100% control

actually i have had the best sales month i have had in a long time this May, April was pretty good too and i had 3 0 days in April and 3 in march and 2 in may i can only hope this is how summer is going to go but not holding my breath and why i really stopped sourcing since Jan i sourced for the last 10 years HARDCORE i have at least 2 full storage units of items that are my back stock i was sourcing for this point like James my great reselling life is now doing he is going through his entire back stock pulling things from storage i made the new years resolution this was the year i stop sourcing with the thought i have to source to because i need inventory i think i went out like 5 times in the last 5 months i have a huge back stock of items i took pictures of (there in folders on my PC) but just never got around to listing them (i did organize them in to my bins) so now working through those folder by folder my goal is to do one folder a week i have 50 or so folders of 1000ish pictures each item having at least 2 pictures so that is a max of 500 items per folder x about 50 folders so yea i have enough items to list for the next year so i was able to save up a lot of what i netted over the last 5 months for the summer slow down i am lucky though my wife works outside the home so its how i have been able to reinvest in inventory over the last 10 years well further back from then but hardcore the last 10 years what my wife makes pays our hosuehold bills but now that im not buying stock just listing it lol what i had planned 10 years ago is working being able to list sell package and rinse and repeat and not have to worry about going out and sourcing since i already that for the last 10 years i now can source from my folders and my storage units im serious its like treasure hunting all over again im cropping photos and i totally forgot i purchased this item or that item or im like im glad i let this sit in there for 10 years its now wroth such and such. i hope to be at 20k by dec in time for the holiday rush. i look at how crazy prices are and I'm so glad i did what i did for 10 years and i was sourcing from all avenues local non local Online you name it i was doing it and building that back stock for this very movement so i will never have to source (or need to source ill only source if i want to) ever again or at least for the next 10 to 20 years

I don't understand the odd sales bursts either. It's happening regularly to me too with just listing my personal items as an online yard sale, so thought I would share. I am either selling so much I can barely fit it in my mailbox and need to go to PO or nothing. This has repeated over and over. I don't expect lots of sales with many non-high STR rate items, but that makes the bursts of sales make even less sense. (BTW higher sales are not falling on traditional paydays either). Ebay may very well be giving items more visibility on some kind of rotation. I am noticing too, some of my older items listed at a similar time will all of a sudden start selling. Not sure if someone with a large store would be able to track this and remember like I can...This is the weirdest one from this month: Two vintage sweaters, same brand and similar styles, listed on the same day 9 months ago, just sold to two different buyers within an hour of each other. I'm having the opposite thing with my store. I'm a clothing seller but I recently started listing a lot of my own anime items to get the clutter out of my house. And they are flying out of my store! It doesn't seem to have a cap. I guess we'll see as I've been collecting for over 15 years so I have enough of this stuff to list for months to years. For most of my anime stuff there are very few US sellers listing the same items (mainly JP sellers as competitors). So it may be different than other collectibles categories. I think having these fast selling items is boosting my clothing items too but I also ran a store category markdown sale for my clothing and that seems to be helping those. My clothing sales haven't been up that much this year, at least not more than I would expect for the amount of time I put into listing those and also sourcing more.

yes ebay has made it almost nearly impossible for buyers to combine items into one order .....why do you ask its very simple ebays 3 pillars of revenue as they stated in multiple quarterly earnings calls to there shareholders are one Managed payments, Promoted listings and Ebay International shipping program. SO why would they limit or make it as hard as possible for buyers to combine items into on order because as you stated you sold 100 items i use to get orders like that every other day but if ebay made buyers buy those 100 items you sold separately they make .40 per transaction so what is .40 x 100 $40 what is .40 x 1 transaction of 100 items .40 see how much money ebay is losing on that sale you just got this is why EBAY has made it almost impossible for buyers to order more then one item......this is not anything new it has been like this since they took over payments from PayPal they took over payments in 2019 so they have had since 2019 to train buyers to pay for each item separately i feel this is another reason they ahve lost alot of buyers because buyers that were accustomed to being able to combine items into one order and now having to purchase each item separately and then ask sellers for a refund on the additional shipping NO buyers should NOT have to do that and its why they are leaving the site after tinkering with things i found a work around to allow my buyers to easily combine items into one order screw ebay i could care less if ebay is making $40 on 100 items sold or .40 on 100 items sold

@@colewilliams767 well you are still wrong. It is eBay matching buyer intent. Not all buyers are looking for your fast sell through wonderful stuff. It is up to sellers to use keywords that match buyer intent. Period. Guessing keywords and using description words is over. Some brands will always sell faster than others. Some sellers don’t have sources for all brands. We sell what we can get.

@@colewilliams767 Try listing 5 brand new lululemon shorts all in slightly different shades of blue,...after a few days some of the shorts will get 50 views, and the others will get 0 views,....so that makes me think that they won't let you sell so many iPhones,....in fact ebay has admitted this...based on their growth responsibility program
