Was DLSS enabled on cyberpunk? Also regarding max settings, were you using path tracing? Cheers
@@ufoludek Great question, took me a while to see the settings so here are the ones that were not on their highest setting:
- Path Tracing Disabled
- Path Tracing in Photo Mode Disabled
- Volumetric Fog Resolution Medium
- Ambient Occlusion Low
- Color Precision Medium
Everything else was high or ultra, or psycho something.,
For DLSS it was in quality.

Linux gaming keeps getting better and better. I just hope it also remains a very viable platform for older or more obscure games as well. Preservation is important!

Also agree my old games even with no cd cracks (wine also don’t support drm), seems to work really better or wine that modern version of windows.
I have had better experience with playing old games on linux than windows. I tried to play motocross madness (a game from 1998) on windows 10 and I got 7 fps (at 4k resolution). I then tried linux with wine and got 60 fps no issues.
I switched from Win12 to Ubuntu 22 LTS 5-6 months ago. I've had far less problems than I did before and everything just worked without having to mess around with configs. This is what "scared" me off using linux for gaming - I thought I'd have to spend hours setting it up and installing drivers. Nope. I think as more people realise this especially with Ubuntu - that it just works - there's going to be a huge pickup in users.

Some of the games taking 99% of the GPU to run is kind of insane seeing as the card in question is a 4090, but impressive nonetheless given that the games are running on 4K resolution. Thanks for showcasing this performance test!
Yes, this one when I was on 23.10. By the look of what has happened on 24.04, the gaming arena has changed. On some cases it creates better performance with less CPU temperature or GPU. So I am making a new one with 128 games using Ubuntu 24.10
Thank you for this compilation! It represents a really best-case scenario in terms of hardware, but I've seen much lesser hardware have very good relative performance. It's really important to show gamers out there that Linux-based operating systems are indeed a viable alternative. The more people begin to gravitate toward these OSes, the less game devs and publishers can ignore its significance in the market.

That's great! I'm working on some larger content creators at the moment to acknowledge the viability of Linux-based OSes as a solid alternative to Windows and it's been a positive experience.
While there are some drawbacks, it's really a great place to be. Windows will remain the gold standard for gaming, at least for the foreseeable future; however, raising awareness and correcting misinformation in the gaming community is really the mission we Linux gamers should be pursuing, rather than conversion... let the people decide, once they know they have a choice!!

How is input delay compared to windows? From what I understand wayland may have more input delay due to the fact that compositing is a requirement, whereas on windows games that are exclusively fullscreen have less input lag.
I do not use wayland yet. This is X only for now, until Ubuntu 24.10.
I would like to add that all Resident Evil franchise, all Metro franchise, Stray, Phasmophobia, Lethal Company, and light games like Hollow Knight and Planet of Lana run smoothly in my machine too : Ubuntu 22.04 with Ryzen 9, RTX 3080 mobile.

2 Questions:
1. Do games run the same, worse or better in general on Linux vs windows?
2. For online games that can be played on Linux (anti cheat issues for a lot of these games), is it safe to play on Linux wthout things like windows firewall + defender? Same for web browsing?

2. I can play Apex Legend, The Finals and Overwatch without problems. Games I can not play yet are Rust in multiplayer and PUBG. For security related, obviously you are a hell of a lot better on Linux. the snappier performance versus windows is quiet noticeable. And a lot of games are getting better FPS, well not just higher FPS, but I can also mention loading speeds. Some games open like something was chasing them.

@@xtremelinux oh sorry to reply to ur earlier question baxk. I’d like to see games known to have issues dead space remake, UE4/5 games ect they seem to have traversal stuttering (jedi survivor) Then games like cod that r very cpu heavy in warzone, the recently released horizon forbidden west (if u can) that game has a very good direct storage implementation and is a great port in general with no issues so it would be nice to see what a great and a horribly optimised game (traversal stuttering game) looks like on Linux.

Windows defender is basically a thing ms came up with to make security on windows somehow good (is it though? you be the judge), while linux is just designed from the ground up more logically and less vulnerable, and since everyone is on windows nobody makes malware for linux
thank you for showing this tests with us! since I've read something about a new kernel that improves FSP in all games (from double them to more) I've been looking for Linux compatibility not only for game but for apps too and seems pretty solid.
if I do a switch I'll do it totally and for now I'm gonna try to learn Arch with VMs and set it up.
How did you manage to play Apex tho? wasn't the penguin struggling with anti-cheat programs?

@@DJcoto1097-2 got it. Yes I only use linux. Mainly for all types of worl related things I do but now for benchmarking games. My steam user is xtremeLinux if you would like to test certain games out in multi-player.

I am running Ubuntu as well gaming on Steam, what are you struggling on ? Maybe we can help you. Have you enabled Proton in your Steam settings ?

Sorry im new to linux. Will it outperform windows in gaming or similar to gaming state on apple, runnable but suboptimal?
Ot actually depends on several factors. From graphics technologies used on the game, game engine, specific graphics tooling (nvidia or amd oriented, or even intel cpu vs amd cpu, etc), game optimization used for hardware, etc..
Now, are there games that run better on linux, for some reason the answer is yes.
I for one play Europa 1400 and it actually works on Linux and does not even work on windows 10 or 11.
There are many other cases like that. If you happen to have a game on mind that you know for a fact that it no longer works on windows 11 let me check ot out on Ubuntu.
have you used the new version on ubuntu? and do you ever had weird issues like fans not turning on?
I am but the videos got recorded before I installed 24.04. I will start doing videos on the latest after I finish a working project. For the fan issues those happened to me on 22.10 but that was because the asus motherboard and cpu came out less than a month before 22.10. What hardware do you have by chance?
hermano tienes algun video para ver como instalar todo configurar wine y todo trate de instalar wine desde la pagina oficial todo bien, pero al colocar que queria instalar la rama estable no me dejo me salio un error pero al darle sudo apt install wine si pero me instalo una version viejita jaja la 8.0 ni windoms 11 tiene eso, como actulizo la version esa y que mas me falta para poder jugar bien en linux ?

Best distro for amd user ?
The BEST ONE is Ubuntu.... Just kidding, the best distro will depend on numerous factors. You can see I have done a lot of hopping for over 20 years wiki.ubuntu.com/luisalvarado
But in reality, the best one is the one that adapts better to what you are going to be using it for. Along with the experience you have with Linux, the time you have to be doing certain things and what apps will you be using on a daily basis for example.
My particular case revolves around gaming, rendering, database, cloud and security and programming. So I stay with Ubuntu for simplicity, compatibility with more tools or the tools that I specifically use and better community for the things I use. But if you change the question to some of the best ones I have tried, then it would go from Arch, to Fedora, to Mint, Debian, Gentoo, etc..
As an AMD user, I would highly recommend distros that use or can use the latest Mesa. So Arch is one, Garuda also. Even Mint or ubuntu will work if you do the PPA for Mesa that I mentioned in one of my previous videos here. This would also affect your video card as well if it is AMD.
forza horizon 5 still crashing with NVIDIA?
I would not be able to test until either I get the game for free, someone invites me to their family valve to test or they REALLY lower those costs by a lot. For me it shows as $35 (with a 50% discount already applied). I would happily tested on Linux if it was $10 or less.
