This may seem an odd project, bit this car (or others very like it) represents the childhood memories of the world gliding past the rear window of so many people now we'll into their fifties. I have a restored "exotic", but it is not particularly fast and probably offers no more visceral a driving experience than or of these FD Vauxhalls. This is a.lovely car and it is so representative of every High Street and every car park and every Motorway on 1970. Good job! Enjoy the car. It looks good.
+lecturer09 Because they were lovely cars. If you couldn't afford a Rover or Triumph 2000 this was the car, so stylish and nice to ride in. My Dad had one in a lovely honey gold with overdrive. The Ford Concertina was just so, well just so Ford, and clumsy by comparison.
Very unlikely, as there are only about 250 Vauxhall Victor FDs still running in Britain out of a total production of almost 200,000 between 1967 and 1972. There was the 1600, 2000 and 3.3 litre Ventora.
I had a 69 FD 2000cc. Its engine always rattled from start up because of low oil pressure as the oil pump is on top of the engine under the distributor. Even with a new oil pump it still rattled. I went back to F series'. Still think the FD had style though.

Why on earth anyone would want to 'restore' an FD Victor is beyond me, but still, credit where its due for a nice job.
I'm surprised no one has commented on what you said by now..
