This method should really only be used if you're going to put the exact same type of coolant back in afterwards.
It will flush coolant from the visible parts of the loop *only* and using coolant from a different manufacturer or using a different type is inherently risky for loop longevity. If you're changing brands or going from solid/opaque to clear, a proper tear down and clean is pretty much mandatory. Also, if you're going to use distilled water only, it's still recommended to add some sort of biocide or growth inhibitor to the coolant. Mossy forests are nice - mossy cooling loops aren't.
The pump o-rings, fitting o-rings and jet plate (as Ed pointed out) will hold onto a ton of coolant from the last setup - they need to be cleaned properly, too.
P.S. CPU power is called EPS, not EPC.

If you forgot a drain valve or don't have one for whatever reason, and have soft tubing, you can remove a part like the radiator or gpu (if you like living on the edge). Then hold the part over a bucket and undo a fitting carefully, then use that as your drain valve.

  • @MakinComputers
    @MakinComputers 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

You should tilt the system about to get as much coolant out as possible. Shouldn't take that much water to clear it out. If you are changing colour, you should clean the loop with Mayhems blitz pt2, which would properly clean the system without the need to take it apart. It would still be preferential to take it apart and clean everything properly as pastel coolant especially can work it's way into all sorts of places.

Absolutely love the editing where you had started filling it with distilled water before removing the little annoying tip/plug thing from the filling bottle. 😂
Just used the exact same bottle an hour ago to fill and clean out a new rad, and had the same issue. 🙌🏾
Btw. Am about to build my first loop today. Would it make sense to do this a couple of times with distilled water in the new build? Flush it through. I already cleaned out the rad.

Distilled water is cool and all for a quick flush but the build up irks me. A dilute-able acid would likey work out well without having to disassemble. Maybe a follow-up for removing the build up (if possible) without having to fully disassemble every component of the custom loop to get fully clean???

Damn man, that drain valve comment got me lol! I got a EK A240G (hopefully I got that right) kit. I had no idea about water cooling but got it first try. I have a lot more experience with cars. But after about a month now I want to clean it, noticing everyone talking about having a drain valve now. Oops! I’m going to do a 3 way splitter, all male, then attach a drain valve at the lowest point of the loop. I’ve drained it a few times already without a drain valve, it isn’t hard, just takes a lot more time.

Hi, my name is Aiden and I love your channel. This might sound like a lot but I would figure I would ask you out of all people. So my brothers name is Brenden and he is 20. He is currently studying to be a math teacher and he is doing his work on a chrome book. My laptop right now is a hp pavilion 15 and it’s better then a chrome book so I wanted to give it to him. I’m currently playing Valorant and trying to stream at the same time. I just started streaming and I’m not even twitch affiliate yet but I’ve been grinding for hours on stream. My laptop gets hot when I do that so I have to take hour breaks when I stream and game. I play at like 40 - 60 FPS and my game constantly lags. When I saw the setup makeover with Nathan, I was thinking like wow he is really lucky and I’m happy for him. The best part of my setup right now is desk. It would be amazing if you could help me in anyway with my setup. You don’t have to help me at all if you don’t want to but I thought I would give it a try. Much love bro. Keep grinding. Your awesome! I love your videos including this one. ❤️

A much easier way is to use soft tubing for the run into your pump and attach that to a gallon of distilled water. Place the tube that returned the water to the pump, the one you just replaced with the soft tubing from the gallon of distilled water. into the sink. Turn the pump on. This will power flush the system without introducing air. Use as many gallons of distilled water to flush the system as you want then reconnect all the old tubing and throw some cryofuel concentrate/color in to finish the job. Easy and fast.

Yea at first I thought he didn't do that so he didn't have to disconnect any of his tubing. Then he disconnected his tubing, so why not just use tubes coming from the pump? He did it the hard way.

how do i attach the soft tube to the distilled water source so that it reliably delivers the water fast enough for the pump not to run dry?

You are just putting in new coolant of the same colour, is it necessary to do a flush? Can I just drain and replace?

as a lazy person i can say: this is why i don't own a watercooled pc.
i'm too lazy to tilt, drain and add new liquid into the pump system. i would actually just use a pressured air can to clean the fans and parts rather than becoming a plumber. 😂😂
either way, i love your content keep going with this advices and tips for pc maintenance.
pd: still waiting to see the winner for the setup wars intro.👀👀

Hey, could you make a video about buying used pc parts? Ps. I hope there’s no one without a flush 😂

Do I need to flush my loop if I have a clear coolant? Assuming the cpu and GPU blocks have no air at any time, and the tubes are all plexi or flexi, can anything bad happen? I mean, an AIO unit doesn't need maintanance, so...
